I use NOW Foods Grapeseed Oil for a moisturizer after I shower. It has a nutty, oily scent so you can mix in an essential oil of your choice to cut that and also to help whatever the skin condition is. (For example chamomile for dry skin or bergamot for weeping eczema.) If you do have eczema, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil might be better. Most NOW Foods oils are food grade, but you can also use them topically. The coconut oil in the link is a bit cheaper than NOW but just as good. Keep in mind it's a solid, but it smells amazing. You didn't say what the condition is but I knew a boy with eczema and he was very embarrassed by the flaky skin and redness. Store lotions only irritated it, even Aveeno. Regular oatmeal in the bath helped more because there are no additives.

the backs of my hands have been abnormally dry the winter, which is odd, because my hands have been soaked in olive oil more regularly than ever, when working bread.
I think all the hand working snatches stuff from my skin, tough.
Most people would tell you olive oil was great for your skin... The Romans would use it with a dull knife in a form of ancient exfoliation.

Sounds like keratosis pilaris! I have it on my chest in the summer time. It looks like chicken skin. Is that it? I was gonna buy some glycolic acid from Amazon for mine but I never got around to it. They say Neem oil also works but there's no cure, only treatment.

I like coconut butter. I put some on my face the other night. I also use jojoba oil. With my skin, I only use once a week. I wash my face in the morning with my shower and then use a face cloth at night. Otherwise it's just too drying. For body lotion, the only one I'll use is by Carina Organics. I bought the big bottle last March and I still have some left. The website looks terrible, but I've met the owner and he's a great guy. Depending on what condition you have, or what results you'd like to achieve, you'd probably would like to look at what your skin is getting fed. A good book dedicated to that is: the Clear Skin Diet book.
