When I wanna try more challenging poses, things often don't come to mind and I end up with some awkward mess in the end... Can anyone recommend some sorta specific difficult poses here for practise?

Check it out!

you can search the poses by angle, gender, and just about anything else you can think of! biggrin I highly recommend the 30-second drawing practice. 3nodding

I hope that helps!

Awesome. Bookmarked. And rotatable 3D models... crazy. This should be very useful, thanks. I'll give the 30 second thing a try.

I've been wanting to do the 30sec drill, but it crashes my PC every time. I have pretty low memory on it.

I can't believe how addictive this is. If you get a chance on a better computer, you should give this a try.

If somehow these poses in that site don't help....use a mirror or take pictures.try getting someone doing a odd pose and take the angle you're looking for.

use a action figure with posable joints and have fun drawing it in different angles

hehe wow this posing site is really good

However, just to give my 2 cents, I like to copy/draw (If i can be bothered xP) the characters I see out of the latest anime/manga I've seen recently. But, like the weird ones. For instance, Bleach is a really good anime for poses that have pretty basic, yet over exaggerated poses and expressions. I like drawing the expressions with the steam that Rukia gets when Ichigo insults her drawings xd

Another handy thing to do is, (as odd as it may sound,) use your hand, and just plonk it onto a nearby table. Now, study it. And then, using your imagination, imagine that the legs are the pointer and thumb, and go from there. For example, a 'V' shape with your hand could be a character that just smashed a tennis ball while in a tournament. I find it's not only the difficult poses that are fun, but putting them in buy-able scenarios with fitting expressions ^_^

I hope I helped, and I would love it if you could show a few of your latest poses biggrin

Good job! 3nodding

Hmm... I just kinda doodle on my DS sometimes, and it looks like I haven't been saving some of them. Here are a few I did save...

That female body in the first one doesn't seem to be going too well. The female in the second picture is mostly based on one of the poses I actually did draw in a 60 second drawing. I didn't use reference pictures or whatever... that's just what I learned, I guess. I think I had something somewhat similar to the third picture in a 60 second drawing, too, but it didn't really turn out right. I didn't really choose a specific pose at first, so things turned out poorly.

Here are some of the 60 second drawings I made a couple of days ago or something... Yeah, that third picture is sorta based on one of these.

The ones with exclamation marks are just some crappy things I drew for the hell of it without any reference pictures. I added a few details to the women in the top-right corner and bottom-left corner afterwards... I just wanted to complete them a little.

So far I've only done the 30 second drawings a few times (not necessarily having it set to 30 seconds)... It is quite fun, though, and it really only takes a few minutes. I should really do it on a daily basis. Even those few times have already helped me so much.

As for your advice, Supernatural Cow, I don't entirely follow the hand thing... But copying/drawing things from manga you've recently read does sound like a good idea, and I have been meaning to try it. In a manga series called Bakuman, the main character copied a hundred pages from various battle manga to get the hang of drawing battle scenes... seems like an interesting idea to me, haha. I'm thinking of copying a chapter or two from my favourite series sometime so I can learn more about their styles.
