Ok... People do have bad grammar and terrible spelling at points... Some of which is intended out of pure laziness and looking "cool, 1337" and completely stupid.
But... I know this might sound daft but some people just can't spell or use grammar properly and I just think that the current attitude of users in the VGD (And maybe as Gaia as a whole.) is unnecessary.
Take my friend for example, you might have seen him around as he is abit of a flamer/ troll (Nickcpointless) and he suffers from a very bad form of dyslexia, he can't spell to save his life. Neither can he add a "decent" amount of grammar to his sentence structure. And I think people are taking this too far... Hell, I couldn't spell s**t when I first joined Gaia and I still can't get my head around spelling certain words, but do you see people jumping at me when I typo a few words? No.
People are just trying to be too elite, using people's misfortunes as a reason to flame them for no reason and I think it's got to stop.

3nodding Good point. People who spell bad are annoying. But those who try to be perfect are just as bad. And I'm sure all of us have done it once or twice.
It's all about finding that happy medium, which is rough..

If someone is being a total a** and is using grammar/spelling that a monkey would be ashamed of, I'll usually subtly mock them when I respond, but other than that, as long as it's understandable, it's no big deal. I use good grammar/spelling because I feel like it. If others want to be lazy, it's their choice entirely.

I don't really pick at people on their spelling unless they're like, trying to correct someone and try to be all l337, but then they screw up the spelling themselves. XD
Like, this one guy made a thread about gaming products and they spelled 'products' wrong.. So, this one guy said something like, '...Maybe if you spelled pruducts right!' (The dot dot dot was to represent the fact that I don't remember what they said before that. >>; )
They make the l337 God cry at night. sad

In the past I too have not flamed but advised(Nice flame ^_^ wink people to use proper grammer. I know that like your friend its not really posable. Also, this website is for humans of all ages. Weither or not someone is smart and mature enough to spell and use cuss words properly(I'm bringing in curse words because there are young people on here too) Dossen't mean everyone around them is as capable as them. I just got done reading Flowers for Algernon at my school, and the main character Charlie Gordon is well.. mentaly retarded. He can't spell and he can't use any grammer. He works hard to spell right and become smart but he just can't do it. Well my point is that some people literaly CAN'T type properly. Then people go and flaming them for it. Well.. this is GAIA Online.. not Grammer Online. It may be easier to understand if the grammer is correct but if you want it correct open up Microsoft Word and fix everything yourself (I acctualy do that sometimes xd ) Well.. no one came here to really talk about Grammer. They go to the VGD to talk about Games. Not get flamed for using bad grammer. Grammer dossn't make the post.. the debth of what the person is saying does.

My only irk is when some poster wants you to take them seriously/they're putting another group of gamers down and they talk like dis cuz its coolio 2 b talkin in da netspeak u noe!
There's a difference between not being able to spell and then there's just being lazy...and the latter is the kind i usually say something about.

Like I was saying the whole abbreviation s**t is what should be flamed at most. sweatdrop
I mean it's easy to tell the difference between spelling mistakes and "2 b cool" spellings. People learn over time and can't learn in an instant even if they do have the capacity to spell and use grammar efficiently. sweatdrop
And a happy medium? MS word type spell checker? (Because I doubt anyone would want to spell check using something else before posting, even if I do. *Always has Google open for words he find hard to spell or just to check he spelled them correct.* Would help people learn to spell and use grammar better aswell as keep everyone else happy. Would be throwing a nice bucket of water on the flaming fad that's going round.

Spelling was my best subject in school, and I'm looking to become an English (Creative Writing) major, so it's sort of a touchy thing for me to see grotesque abuse of the English language. However, it's rare for me to say anything about it, much less anything nasty. I like not offending people more than I like seeing proper usage of the English language, for better or for worse.

I try my best to not make fun of someone's spelling unless they do it to me first. Say, I make a typo and they point it out, and then they make a typo pointing it out, I'm most likely going to say something along the lines of "Practice whatcha preach."
But that's because I'm a douche when it comes to people pointing out my spelling errors. I use to be such a spell freak in school, but I type way too fast for my mind to think, so I make errors quite often. sweatdrop

And you know what, we probably all thought you did that on purpose. 3nodding As for my input on this. I agree. The only people who deserve a can of whoop a** are the L337357 tards who think they're better than everybody else. And netspeakers.......Well they're tolerable but I still............Gah
