I don't know why, but I seem a little apprehensive about the whole "5th generation" thing.. Isn't kinda too soon for them to actually announce the Pokemon and whatnot? Did they do the same thing with Diamond and Pearl after Emerald came out or did they wait for years?

It will still won't be untill next year till Japan gets theres, possibly even longer. However, you do have to think about this: The 4th Generation was mostly upgrades to preexisting evolutionary chains, as well as a complete regone system for the entire game, with new moves, new items, abilities, and the introduction of Wi-fi. Chances are, some of these pokemon where ideas that did not make it into Gen 4.
Also, they do not have to shot for a whole new system. Since it will be the DS, they don't have to waste time amping up graphics or formating the game.

I thought it was too soon too, but I'm not complaining, I'm glad they are coming out with the new game XD

Zetshimaru would say it is too soon for us (Americans). Because we don't even have HG/SS yet. Japan has had theirs for a bit now so it doesn't seem so strange to them. Or that would be Zetshimaru's guess.

That is true. They have had SS/HG for months now. We still haven't gotten ours yet.

I think they should wait a little longer after SS/HH has been out for a year everwhere before releasing another game straight after. Looks like they're milking money out of people....

That's actually what is going to happen... As I said, Japan is MONTHS ahead of us. By the time they get Gen 5 it would already had been over a year for them. So, it would be over a year for us when we finally get it. As I said in a previous post somewhere, we're most likely look at getting it, or atleast pre-ordering it, about Summer 2011. So, don't worry, we have a good looong while.

I must learn Japenese. Then I won't need subtitles on anime or to wait to get Pokémon games.

Last time I got a new pokemon game I still had a girlfriend. That was around 3 years ago.
I don't mind when they make a pokemon game every year. By then I'm usually wanting to start over again anyway but don't want to lose my progress.
I bought pearl and a strat guide
Then I bought Platinum and a strat guide
Then I reserved Soul of Silver and will buy the strat guide
Then I'll buy the 5th generation game
Then I'll even buy a Mind of Crystal or what ever they call the remake of the 3rd game of the second generation.
I used to have or still own:
Red, Blue, Sapphire, Ruby, Leaf Green, Fire Red, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Emerald, Pearl, Platinum, XD Gale of Darkness, Colleseum, Pokemon Rumble, Mystery Dunegeon (the first ones that were pokemon but havne't gotten around to buying the new ones yet), and I'll buy the 5th generation.
The thing that I'm most worried about though, is that I want the next gent o be DSi. Mostly cause I'll have a DSi by then, and pretty much the only DS games I play are Digimon or Pokemon. None of the other ones hold my attention longer than my PSP and PS3 games.
