User Image Midday.. Was bothersome.. The harpy thought from it's perch, a whole lot closer to the ground than was usual for her. Midday was preening time, not something she usually found herself partaking in personally, she did it in the morning and the evening but saw no reason to do it during the middle of the day. He perch-buddy, Kestral, however always had different thoughts on the matter. While she didn't make Xiomar join in her hourly preening, she did try and preen her at midday as well to freshen her up, something that the blue harpy did NOT enjoy or condone in any way shape or form. If she'd needed to preen herself, shed do it herself, damnit! Not let Kestral do it for her!
As much as she liked her OCD companion, she grated on her nerves like nothing else when it came to preening and especially at midday..
Which is how she found herself away from her usual haunt at the aerie and hiding out down in the trees, out of Kestrals sight.

Admittedly she hadn't alighted on the ground, instead she had set herself down, cross legged on a long abandoned, half-toppled standing stone. It was the highest point she could find that didn't involve tangling herself in the tree branches, and there was no way she would give her friend more of an excuse than usual to pick at her when she later returned.
She brooded darkly, her arms firmly folded, narrowing her eyes at the small clearing just beyond her perch, a heavy atmosphere surrounding her. She growled a little.

If Xiomar were to better assess her dilemma, Arion would say should he know her thoughts, she would find it was not midday that was the issue, but the other creatures around her. Creatures were bothersome, and sometimes it was better to avoid them altogether.

It was difficult, of course, when those creatures were bonded to you in one fashion or another. "Silence!"

There was nothing speaking to be silent, but as Arion walked into a clearing, his ears twitched as if something spoke---or was it as if he was keeping sight out for danger, as other animals did when entering an unshielded area? His eyes did not rove the clearing though, instead they looked down with annoyance and then with frustration at the instrument by his side. After a moment or two, the satyr snorted, tossing his head in a fashion that could have been a challenge, or an attempt to rid himself of some annoyance.

"I will not." His fingers moved over the instrument he addressed, a longing movement. It called to him, and despite his words, he very much wanted to give into what it said.

Sensitive ears caught the sound Xiomar made. Arion started, as if guilty of something, hand flashing away from the instrument, and focus now on the direction of the harpy. He couldn't see her from his stand point, not just yet, but he made his way toward her.

Other creatures were bothersome, but sometimes the company of one bothersome creature was more desirable than another. He was sure to be questioning his own logic when he realized exactly what sort of creature it was that he approached.

The harpy hunched a little more on her perch, hunching her shoulders to bring up her wings over her head and around her shoulders like a great vulture, as she should probably look, she thought a little bitterly.
She wasn't worried about being found by anyone, well at least, there was only one person she would object to, and at least she wouldn't have to worry too much about being found out by her. Anything else, she reasoned, she could easily deal with by screeching and taking flight.
And so she sat still, brooding away, watching as the sun slowly filtering down through the leaves as it ever so slowly made it's way across the small expanse of cleared woods before her.
She shifted her wings fractionally, hands resting on her knees as she saw slight movement through the small gaps in the foliage beyond..
Looking kinds earthy coloured..
She put on a little more of a scowl, "Kestral! If that's you, walking at me won't fool me I'll have you know!" She cried a small warning. Of course it would be a boar or something.. Or Grenth walking naked.. Neither she really wanted to see.
