To Prove Oneself

Khaless trotted away from the pack's 'base' clearing, looking down to be sure that En was following her. The pup seemed strong enough to make it past Kirill's test, and so Khaless wasnt unduly worried. Hunting was something they all excelled at.
"Just stay close. We'll go after oe of the deer - its big for you on your own, but I will help you." she said softly as they began to enter the thicker forest.

En lifted her nose to the air and sniffed the air, a the quick scent of the deer filled her nostrils. She listened to Khaless without much of a word and stayed close behind her. "I believe I will be able to manage this..." En had grown from when she first joined Khaless and Kirll's home. Her claws had become sharp and her teeth honed. "But please do step in if I am getting thrown around." A deer was almost three times her size but En knew if she went for the neck and held on she could suffocate it, break its neck, or let it bleed out. Eithr or she had to proof herself.

Khaless almost smirked, but said nothing, merely nodded her acquiescence. En did need to prove herself to Kirill, and if the still-young pup could take down a deer even at her age, that was a worthy feat. Of course, Ikal'daka had the advantage over their wolf cousins, being by far better built as a predator. She dropped back as the scent of the herd grew stronger, letting En take the lead, leaving the decisions up to her, seeing how she hunted.

En stalked along the tall grass weaving around crouching low to the ground. Kha had stepped back to watch En work, she didn't pay much attention to it. Taking the lead she followed the scent of the sweet deer. A few moments later En halted and got low to the ground. A small herd of deer grazing stood right in front of them. En dug her claws intot he ground waiting for Kha's signal to go. She was ready, her shoulders back legs ready to spring. She was ready.

Khal slunk though the taller shrubs, her spines low to her back, her claws gripping the ground with every step, quieting her movements. Her body itched to spring into action as they crept closer, but she restrained her desire, moving only her eyes to focus on En. She watched as the pup coiled herself, ready to go. She gave the smallest flick of her ears forward, signaling En.

Noticing the slight signal she crept forward very fat but was some how quiet. She picked a younger male. It was better to take a male instead of a female only for the reason a male can't produce a baby. The young male deer hadn't noticed her yet. As he trouted towards En she got into her attack stance. In a quick moment En pounced and jumped onto the back on the deer sinking her fangs into its neck. The rest of the herd ran for its life as En attempted to bring the large deer down. Flinging her head left to right the blood flying and staining her coat. The animal kicked and bucked trying to get her off. En waiting for Kha to jump in for its legs or something to knock it over. En was not heavy enough to bring it down.

Khaless sprang forward after En had secured her grip, dodging the flying hooves with practiced ease, her teeth closing around one of the deer's forelegs, powerful jaws locking around the bone. She thrust her weight against the deer, bringing him down. she transferred her grip to a rear leg, immobilizing the deer - but she would let En finish him.

En never left go well Kah took the deer down. She growled and snarled as the deer whinned and yelped for freedom. As the deer fell En switched herself to land on her feet. Locking her eyes with Kha she got the hin to finish the animal off. Releasing her jaw she quicking she sank her teeth into its neck. With a crack cut off its way to breath. It coughed and choked for air but soon it feel silence. En let go, her jowls covered in bllod she looke dup at Kha and bowed her head. "Did I do good?" She was honoring the female with respect...hoping this would let her into the pack.

Khaless smirked at the little one, her fangs stained with blood. "Yes, En." She indicated the deer, "Choosing a male, and being able to bring him down with minimal help, shows you will be a valuable asset." Her spines twitched as the scent of blood made her teeter more towards feral instincts. "We can bring this back for the rest of the pack to feed, as well." They were still a small pack, so this would suit fine. She had included En withing the pack, letting the pup know she was fully accepted.

She was smiling and sank her teeth pack into deers neck, draggin it slowly with help from Kha. They headed back to the cave with the lovely helping of meat. She had proven herself.
