I work at Rogers Video, where we sell and rent movies and video games so I get to play/ try a lot of them. Well at my work's Christmas staff party I won a copy of Assassin's Creed 2. I was soo happy because I own the first one and loved it. So here is my thing though. From reviews and customer's opinions, they say that it is soo much better than the first one. Which I do agree but they also say that it is totally different...which is where I do not agree. Playing it I seem to feel like it is very similar to the first one. The only real difference is where your mind goes to in this one. I was just wondering, am I the only one that seems to think that the two are very very similar?

I'm one of those people that think "Nothing beats the original" because without it there wouldn't be a sequel. So it gets more respect. But again that's just my opinion. I love both games for their similarities and for their differences. I liked the 1st game because of the game play, deep storyline and the art. It took games of that genre into a new level.
I liked the 2nd game because the mysteries of the 1st are explained and Ezio's entire life is portrayed rather than a small period of time. You see his struggles and his gains as to with Altair he was already an assassin who was just dropped in level. And after the end you don't know what happens unless you find the codex pages.
Again this is just what I think. The entire AC series is one of the best. And I don't think they could finish it in just 3 games.

i agree with Tiff for the most part. But yeah, I liked the 2nd one more becose the weapons and moves seemed more fine tuned. and you run your own friggin town! and also... the broom lmfao

I think people are saying it's totally different because of the drastic change in pacing and style rather than the explicit gameplay or motive.
They made it a LOT more linear, but less repetitive too. They streamlined a lot, cut out a large amount of the 2012 sequences...while at the same time adding the exposition about the 2012 stuff IN the Animus itself.
I think they did a good job and it addressed my main concern about AC1: the repetitiveness. I was so sick of doing those random three missions before every assassination and ended up tuning out a lot of the story because the gameplay got so boring.
I think they did an excellent job improving on it, and I can't wait til AC3. (especially with the way 2 ends...:X)

I do agree with the repetitiveness in the first game. And I guess I was just meaning the whole gameplay itself is just very similar to the first one. Graphically it has improved immensely from the first one and it also does not have glitches which is nice. In all I like it better, i just meant unlike some sequals where it is completely different, this one is similar.

Me too!! but I do like the way they transitioned the end of part 1 into part 2.
End of AC1: Desmond: What the hell? Meh, I guess I'll go to bed...
Start of part 2: *Desmond wakes up* OH s**t!!! I GOTTA GET OUT OF HERE!!! scream
i think with the way they ended part 2, the beginning of part 3 will jump right in where 2 left off.
