He was stiff, he was sore, everything hurt, but he felt alive, every sense was open. He licked a string of blood away from his lip and grinned, today had been a good day. Anyday that he was able to spar with the goblin king and live was a good day. He was proving himself, he knew he was, he was going to earn some respect, and prove his loyalty to the alpha of the pack. He would make his mother so proud once she saw how high he had gone.

He limped towards the stream to wash off and ease the ache in his muscles. Nothing broken today, meant he could go right back to sparring tomorrow! Yes he was probably the only one thick skulled enough to take such abuse, but it also meant he was the only one really learning how to fight from their liege himself. He reached the stream and threw himself down with a grunt.

((Time wise I am placing this after my RP with Gabrielle, Liriel and the current one with Chernabog, so I hope this is okay.))

Moghedien glided across the ground with grace, she had been living in these woods for many moons now, granted she had spent a lot of the time also out of the pack lands but now that Chernabog has taken her as his mate and appointed her to the position of Queen she had remained within the packs territory and had began to make a mental map of the land in her head, allowing her to travel at her current gliding pace smoothly without having to worry about possible obstacles. She had meet with Gabrielle and Liriel herself but after last night with Chernabog he had informed her of Cassius where abouts. The male pup worked closely with Chernabog and though the alpha male knew him well knew Chernabog also seemed to like her opinion and view of things, thus she now went to where he had said they would be training that day. Moghedien had no desire to disturb the training session and thus it was now late afternoon when she went in search of the young male.

After a while Moghedien came upon a clearing that showed signs of their training, the ground was torn; clumps of earth flung from the ground where they had dug their claws in for anchorage pushing forwards and adding extra momentum to a lunge. The grass flattened where a body had been flung and she did not doubt that had been young Cassius. Moghedien pasted the clearing without much more than a quick glance, such things were not her forte and therefore didn't truly interest her. Not far from the training ground she spotted the young want-to-be warrior.

Moghedien glided up to him, coming alongside him. She stood for a moment as if taking in her surroundings and in her own time she lowered herself down with poise to sit daintily next to the beaten male whom was panting tiredly. She looked down at his reflection in the water rather than turning her head to focus on his physical body and simply waited. She had no doubts that he'd know who she was.

Cassius had shoved his head down to gulp eagerly at the stream, he was getting bulkier the brazen male, but certainly not faster. Injuries healed yes but slowly and the young male still felt old aches sometimes. He was becoming as tough as a battering ram, and unknown to him that was exactly what Chernabog intended to use him for. Cassius was like a first line of offense, a wall that others could batter against while his more experienced warriors like Geri, Freki, Valdis, and Liriel could attack around or use as a shield.

He lifted his head and gulped a bit as he noticed another approach. Cassius and Chernabog did not spend time with idle chatter, but never the less Cassius knew who sat across from him. Moghedien had already been a lady of high position, and now she was higher still, she was queen. He wasn't sure how to address her, part of him wanted to show proper respect, but the other part...well Liriel was his mother, he would rather have seen her as queen. Still...Mog had to have some special trait that had made Chernabog choose HER.

He tipped his muzzle lightly to one side. "Lady Mog..." He lifted his eyes to look at her curiously as if trying to assess why she was there.

Mog stared at the reflection in the water and watched as he turned his head to address her physical self. 'Lady' she was a lady no longer she was the Queen, what title and form off address that required she did not know though she had now grown accustomed to being addressed as 'Lady', she did not mind this but 'Mog' no; Mog was a shorten pet name and she never introduced herself thus. Her eyes grew flinty and she was quick to correct the young wolf, her voice like daggers, 'Moghedien.'

She looked at the reflection and then slowly she turned her head and lowered her nose to stare down at the wolf laying next to her. There was curiosity in his eyes and she smiled frostily at him her voice losing it's edge, 'Your King maybe training you in battle but your mother evidently has not been teaching you manners.'

"Lady Moghedien then..." He corrected, but there was an edge to his voice he couldn't control. How dare she, his mother had done remarkably in raising all of them! He'd like to see how well she fared, with her puny little frame, he could picture her laying there unable to birth pups for the goblin king...maybe even dying in the attempt...and then his mother could be queen. The idea made him smirk a little, he was terrible at hiding his emotions his face an open book.

"What brings you to the training grounds my lady?" He finally thought to ask eager to get whatever she wanted over with. He might dislike her, but if she wanted something he knew he would have to comply unless he wanted the king to break his spine.

Moghedien did as she did with any other wolf and analysed and broke down what they were saying and the manner in which they had presented it. 'Lady Moghedien then.' he wasn't apologising for his mistake and for the possible offence he could of made from him making himself overly familiar with herself, he was simply correcting himself in a manner that made him sound like a sulking teen that had been told off by an elder, which was exactly what had just taken place. This male adolescent may be training hard with Chernabog and maybe be surviving the gruelling task but he certainly had no gift with words and something concerned her.

She watched him, her line of sight travelling down her nose and at Cassius still laying sprawled out on the ground. He didn't hide his emotions at all, she could she his hatred for her as plain as day and whatever he was thinking to cause that smirk upon his maw she didn't want or need to know. She simply confirmed something with herself and then decided to ignore the question he presented her with, quite purposely and continued with her line of attack.

'You read like a book.' She stated simply, her voice bitter and cool but never risen, 'You have never met me before, eye to eye, so I can only assume your hatred for me stems from your mother. Lets get one thing straight.' She paused for a split second just so he really heard the name she chose for him well, 'pup.' Her voice dropped and became chilling, 'Your mother was tricked by a male, used and then left for waste, her bitterness towards me is simple jealously, she could of had a chance at what I've got but she threw it way. I was the better wolf and you had better learn from that rather than perceiving your mother as the superior female.'

Cassius was still relaxed he wasn't about to go get up and pretend to hang on Mog every word. Moghedien that was, hmph, ice queen the goblin king called her and then she spoke again and he knew why. Her voice was cold, the fur on the back of his neck stiffened a little.

He could feel his lip twitch and he had to suppress a snarl when she spoke of his mother. He didn't hate her before, but he felt a dark cold rage settle over him then as she continued to speak. Pup? Pup! He would show her! He moved then rising onto his paws with a low rumbling growl. Then he knew...he knew he was being goaded. His ears fell back and his eyes narrowed on the female before him....not just any female though the ice queen, his queen as much as he was loathe to admit it.

"I'll have to do my best to take a lesson from that then Moghedien, was there anything else you wanted to inform me of?" He used her name out of anger, he wasn't ready to address her as anything more polite after that barb to his mother. He tried to hold himself back then and slowly sat down struggling to cool his temper, he knew what kind of consequences there were. As petite as she was her dangerous silver tongue could cause more trouble for him then a whole slew of muscled enemies.

As he rose growling at her words her eyes followed him up coolly, he stood taller than her sitting most certainly but she had no doubt he was also large standing. Though size did not bother Mog any more, she knew she was petite and it did not bother her she had other tools at her disposal and evidently right now those where superior to muscle and fang. She did not flinch once as the male loomed over her, his lips curling with the snarl she simply watched his expression melt away as it slowly dawned on him what she had done to him. She'd goaded him, easily at that, and he'd taken the bait without a pause for thought.

She simply watched as he settled back down and again chose not to acknowledge anything he said, if he was going to continue to show her disrespect then she would not show him any either. She had right as queen to taunt any wolf she saw fit and if this teenager didn't know his place she'd let him know about it. She sat silently for a while and let the male stew before simply stating, 'Tell me Cassius, do you know the possible consequence of what you just did in the heat of a fight?'

Ugh, she knew! She knew she had taunted him, and worst of all she knew how easily he was brought to boil. His eyes narrowed as he watched her then, it really wasn't in his best interest to upset her any further. Then there was silence, and he had to hold back a sigh of annoyance, but it was so visible in his eyes and the little twitches of his muscles.

Then she spoke again and he had to struggle to keep his ears from falling back to show his displeasure. Oh there would be consequences, he knew, he knew better. He knew better then to rise to taunts. He also knew that he had to learn to recognize strength, learn when he was going to be bested. Mog might look like a slip of a wolf, but he should have known better then to be rude to her. He had to force the politeness this time and slowly he lowered his gaze.

"Yes...my lady...it would be unwise to break ranks for a mere verbal challenge..." He bit the snarl off at the end struggling with his manners, he so rarely had to use them.

Moghedien watched his expressions in the water and he clearly displayed his displeasure with having to wait before she had responded to him, the question she had asked to break the silence wasn’t something she truly needed an answer to, he had already given it to her as she read his eyes, the way they widen ever so slightly when he had finally acknowledged what she had been doing all along and then rapidly they had narrowed with anger. He was young and ill experienced and she wagered all Chernabog was interested in was training the young naïve male to simply harden up and then to be put forwards first in a battle before letting his more experienced warriors out, she wondered if Cassius had yet released this fact.

The male still struggled with showing her any form of respect or indeed yet showed any knowledge of her intelligence but the damage had been done now and she did not really care about the disrespected he showed her, he’d pay for it and if he lived long enough he’d know for next time. Moghedien knew she was no warrior but she was still a wolf and she knew of these things and thus she slowly turned to physically face Cassius, staring down at him with icy observing eyes. ‘It is not just your temper that will get the better of you. I can read every muscle twitch in your body, which to me I gain a great deal from your mood.’ She met his eyes with those words and made him realise the grave error he had made crossing her but she continued smoothly, ‘The same applies to other wolves and they will plan their moves accordingly and though you may be able to with stand a lot,’ her eyes danced across his body and the scars he was going to be left with after these training sessions with her mate, ‘you will not see the end of the battle.’

Moghedien was queen but she did not simply want respect given to her on a silver platter, she wanted to earn it. She wondered if the male would ever be able to see through that hatred of her formed by his mothers jealously and realise it would be Moghedien that tamed his trainer and suggested that he was trained as a warrior not just as a single entity that could act to wear down the enemy in a battle but not truly finish them off. If the boy had skill why waste it, if he had any ounce of his mother in him she knew his mind was quick and she did not like the idea of seeing it wasted.

"I will...do my best to better school myself then your majesty." He responded stiffly trying not to let his feelings show. How he despised having her get the better of him, and rile his temper. Hard as a stone, that was what Chernabog had wanted him to be, had the king meant his expression as well had to be like stone, impossible to read?

His deep thoughts was clear by the way his brows slightly furrowed, and finally reluctantly he spoke again. "Thank you for your advice your majesty..." He knew he would have been elated for advice from Chernabog, and she was his queen, so why didn't he feel so thrilled? She saw his weaknesses, Chernabog only saw what he would mold him into, giving him confidence, but to become what the king wanted he needed to follow the queens advice as well.

Moghedien sat staring out over the water listening carefully. The male's voice was strained and he held back his emotions barely but it was respectful in a forced manner but that would have to do for now enough that he was beginning to understand perhaps that he shouldn't let his own mothers politics become his own, they would bare him nor his mother no fruits and ultimately could become detrimental to his status within the pack and within life itself. Have gathered what she required from this meeting Moghedien rose gracefully from where she had sat on the river bank and without word she began to move away, back into the shadows though before dissipating out of view she turned and frosty blue eyes pierced the lighting yellow of the young male's. 'I will have words with your king and inform him of what I have learnt today and perhaps, depending on what he had already planned for you, he will listen to what I have to say.' She said nothing else to the male and neither did she wait to see if he would question her as to what she was to say. She simply took one last look at him and turned smoothly on her paws and glided off into the shadows.
