Do you have to keep increasing/decreasing?

Say you're on a weight loss plan. Diet, exercise, the whole bit. In order to CONTINUE losing weight, do you eventually have to change your routine? As in, would you have to lower how many calories and/or increase the amount of time you exercise in order to keep losing? Is it possible for your routine to put your weight at a standstill, so that you have to change or else you'll just remain at your current weight? Or would a low-calorie, regular exercise routine that's helping you lose weight continue helping all the way to your goal weight without needing adjustment?

Well, I am not sure about that, but I do not think so unless you eat too few. I think you have to keep it at a healthy but low enough level to lose. I know it always worked for me at the same rate, as long as I did not go pig out.

You know, I've always wondered the same thing, so I was glad when I read this. xD

I'm not exactly sure myself, but as far as I can tell, an eating/excercise routine that allows you to lose weight will probably continue to work, but maybe slow down at some point, depending on what you're doing.

Though it most likey differs from person-to-person.

If a program you're using is making you lose weight you will eventually hit the point where it is just maintenance and in which you will either have to reduce your calorie intake or increase your exercise (or both) to keep losing weight.

I'm on my way to the gym right now but I'll come back and explain it better later.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. And if there's a way to tell right away when it's come to a maintenance point, so you won't finally notice there's no weight loss after two weeks of sticking to your usual.

It's basically the smaller you are the less calories it takes to maintain your body. Your heart doesn't have to work as hard, your muscles aren't carrying as much weight so you don't need those extra calories to just go about your normal stuff.

With WW you drop a point about every 10 lbs you lose. Once you reach goal you eat at your previous weight to maintain.

Example: Say I reach my goal of 160 lbs, I would then eat as if I were trying to lose weight at 170 lbs to maintain at 160.
