Character Name :: Claire Marie D’Orsey
Player Name :: Eamane
Career :: Musical Theatre

Height:: 5’8’’
Weight:: 125lbs
Ethnicity :: Caucasian (French)
Eye Color :: Blue-Grey, almost a steel colour
Hair Style/Color :: Honey brown and pin straight. She wears it long, with a blunt end just below her shoulder blades. She parts her hair on the right side giving her side swept bangs that sometimes are a bit too long. She often pulls the top half up in a pony tail.

Attire :: Claire loves clothes and shopping. She tends to be a trend follower, wearing whatever is “in” at the time. Mostly she likes cool colours- blues, greens, and greys. Purple is her very favourite though. She prefers skirts over pants, and sleeves to sleeveless. Most of her clothes are rather modest. At the moment she is in love with tights and often coordinates a pair to match her outfit.

Personality :: Claire is a bit of an introvert in new situations. They make her feel awkward and she thinks everyone is staring at her. As a result she isn’t very good at making new friends- usually they have to make her first. Once she becomes more relaxed with someone though she is able to let her real personality show. She is sweet, the kind who will put others feelings before her own- though it does tend to make her indecisive as she doesn’t want to make choices that go against the group. She’s a bit of a follower, but she takes direction very well and is dedicated to any task she feel has been assigned to her.

Claire was born to parents George and Maxine D’Orsey the year after they emigrated to Canada from France. Claire grew up in Montreal and as a result has no accent but can speak both French and English fluently. Her Father is an architect and her mother is a musician so she has been surrounded by the arts for her entire life- though her father would have been much happier if she had chosen something with a slightly more stable income than acting.

Claire began ballet lessons when she was five years old simply as an after school activity to keep her out of mischief. Instead she fell in love with the movements and the music. She begged her parents to enrol her in a second style of dance, and began jazz the following year as well. She wasn’t naturally coordinated though and it took constant practice for her to keep up with the other girls in her class

Claire’s mother taught her to sing from the time she began to talk, and it came easily to her. She never put her two loves together though until her High School put on a production of Cats. Her ability to do both- sing and dance- landed her the role of Demeter. When she added acting to her two other talents, she seemed to blossom. The theatre became her passion working both on and off stage all through High School. When she graduated she applied and was accepted to Sheridan for their Musical Theatre program.

Deep breath in, deep breath out. Not too fast or she knew she’d faint- she had at her first audition after high school. Claire closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the hard cement walls of the waiting area. Waiting had always been the hardest thing for her, whether it was for Christmas morning or for the bank to open; she just plain sucked at it. This of course was probably a million times worse- this one little audition could make or break her career. Walk of Fame was famous, she giggled at the redundancy in her head, and with new management maybe even someone as inexperienced as her could make it.

She certainly hoped so because her bank account was getting a little tight, and she didn’t want to have to beg money from her parents yet again. Absently she stroked the soft fur in her lap, eyes still shut tight against the florescent light glare.

“Claire D’orsey” The woman holding the folder looked bored as she called out yet another name. Claire took the papers she was offered as she skittered by and then she was in the wings of the empty stage.

It was the spotlight she decided as she nervously wiped her sweating palms on her denim skirt. Anyone would be nervous to step onto an empty stage with a single spot of light right in the centre. Why couldn’t they have left the lights up? It was an audition, not an opening night performance! Hopefully she would manage the walk without tripping over her own feet. They never wanted to cooperate if there was no music.

One more deep breath and she slipped the headband decorated with elaborate cat ears over her hair. The blonde stepped out into the dim light and carefully- it really would be just too much if she fell over-made her way into the bright spotlight.

“Good afternoon,” she began in a timid voice that she knew would never carry to the waiting judges. She tried again forcing a false note of bravado into her voice, “Good afternoon, I’m Claire D’Orsey and I will be performing a scene from the musical Cats.” It was a dorky and probably tedious introduction, but she had managed to get it out without stumbling over her words. It was a good start and hopefully they would rate her performance good enough to make up for it.

The ears helped; it was silly, but true. With them on she could be Demeter and she quickly settled into the familiar role. It was this scene, her very first role, she had used to audition for Sheridan too. The words flowed naturally from her mouth now as she put her heart into the “Macavity”* lyrics; her feet automatically moving through the complex jazz movements. She let her face relax and take on the slightly seductive quality that Demeter had, infusing it with half amazed, half scornful attitude that the kitty queen had for the irrepressible tomcat. She came back to herself as she pulled her body into the alert half crouch that ended the song.

Breathing heavily she pulled herself upright and bowed to the dark audience. Well she had done it, now it was back to the waiting game. She hated waiting!
