Zia wasn't fooling herself, Redfith was getting much larger, and even learning to fly, with practicing flying solo came manned flight..and after manned flight came the coldness of between. The greenrider shivered, but not just from the cold of winter as she watched Redfith start walking away from her toward the feeding pens. Bark, her small brown firelizard peeked his head out from inside Zia's furs curiously, he liked the large dragon, she was always willing to share her food.
I will fly back to you, Ziamine, like we practiced before, Redfith's voice interrupted Zia's moment of panic at precisely the correct time. I do not think that I am the best flyer, I know that there are others better than me.
All of your clutch mates are learning just as you are, Redfith. Zia reassured, her telepathic voice firm, You will all be wonderful flyers, no one is better or worse than you. The two were only practicing a short sprint of sustained flight and Zia did not allow Redfith to do many laps out of fear that it will harm her developmentally.
I trust you, Mine, Redfith said as she turned around to face her rider. The speckled green did not feel that she was nearly as adequate at flying..or much of anything as her clutchmates or many other dragons, but she couldn't tell anyone that..she told Hers sometimes, but she kept some of it bottled in.

Overhead, Sharath was (un)steadily gliding overhead when she saw Redfith and veered suddenly when she tried to cran her neck to look down. A bit of a struggle and she righted herself, though she dropped a fair ways and had to land sooner then she intended.
Amelia, however, had started running towards her dragon when the gold faltered in the air, a spike of worry coursing through her, "Sharath!? Are you alright!?" When she finally came up alongside the young queen, the goldrider smacked Sharath's hind leg as the dragon tossed her head and whuffled in what sounded suspiciously like a laugh.
I am fine, Mine. I thought I saw Redfith... so I looked. The gold replied, turning to nose Hers for a moment before lifting her head to look out over the area.
And there, not too far away, was her friend! Dear, green and speckled Redfith. Lifting her head high, the gold trumpted a greeting before nudging her rider to walk towards the others. Redfith! Are you flying too?

Redfith's wings tottered at the sound of someone bugling, she wobbled in the air and her altitude dropped slightly. I am flying! You fly so wonderfully, Sharanth! A moment later he speckled green landed next to Sharanth and walked along side of her.
Zia, Sharanth is here! She flies much better than I.
I can see that she is here. You all fly the same, Zia answered back teasingly a hint of exasperation in her voice. The young woman waved to Amelia, "Hello!" The greenrider often let her tongue go and forgot all formalities, "Isn't it such a lovely day? Great for some flying practice." She walked toward the goldrider and dragons.

The gold preened at the compliment and gave a draconic grin to the green as she ruffled her wings then resettled them, And you are doing well, too. You turn very quickly. And edge of envy crept into her voice - she'd noticed how very maneouverable the greens were in the air and it seemed, despite trying, she wasn't quite able to copy their agility. She was too big.
At least she could stay in the far longer then the others... even now.
Amelia waved back, smiling as well, "It is! How are things going, then? Redfith looks to be doing rather well. It's great to see the dragons flying but I can't get over how big they've gotten! Doesn't seem like it's been all that long." She chuckled, glancing up at Sharath. From a chest-high hatchling to a nearly full-grown dragon that stood twice her height? It amazed Amelia.
