Armel quietly sat at the fire he had built from the surrounding forest. He had spent a great deal within the mountains and felt more at peace than he had been before he came here. He scratched a bit at the fuzz that had grown along his chin since before he had gotten there. The incident that had caused the growth was vaguely connected to before he left when he had snuck into his Da's room of treasures and accidentally spilt some hair growth accelerant (the bottle was shiny and gilt in gold) on his chin and parts of upper lip. It was too late by the time Armel had gotten to the restroom to wash it off and since then the young Tale had needed to pack some razors with him and get a quick lesson in shaving from his Da before his trip.

He poked at the fire with a bit of a content sigh. The young 'almost-dwarf' felt ready to go home soon, maybe tomorrow. He could go see Khalindra, Vidya, and Donny. He missed all of his friends, truth be told, but he most those three the most. He reached up and scratched the bridge of his nose and got lost in staring at the flames.

Armel had grown though he couldn't quite recall when it happened he just knew recently he woke up and he was obviously much bigger...

She awoke to the crackling of flames.

The girl couldn't explain how she got there in the first place; all she knew was that one day, she was alone and lost, in a place she could only imagine was a forest. It seemed never ending; it was difficult to find your way when you were blind, and lacking that one important sense made an already confusing and upsetting situation all the more terrifying. She didn't know where she was, she didn't know what time of day it was, and her entire body ached from hunger and from the seemingly hundreds of various gashes along her entire body.

She didn't even remember falling asleep. Luckily, there were a few things she was aware of; she was dressed, more or less. She wore some form of nightgown that was torn and probably covered in dirt and blood...and another thing was that there was a bandage over her eyes. She did not wear shoes and her hair was long and matted with knots and leaves.

Shakily she got to her feet, clinging to a nearby tree to help her stand. While her world was a mystery there was one thing she knew for a fact; a crackling fire meant there was people nearby, people who could potentially help her. Of course, there was no guarantee they were friendly people, and for all she knew the fire could be burning the forest down, but either way it would solve as an end to her problems; she would either be aided, or dead.

Much too tired and weak to lift her arms to feel where she was going, the girl stumbled slowly along, following the noise of the flame. With some luck she came into the clearing, or at least she assumed it was a clearing; she close enough to feel the warmth on her marred and broken skin. The teenage girl stopped, swaying weakly where she stood.

"Please, I..." She whispered out, her voice harsh with dehydration. Her sentence was never finished as her knees gave out on her, her mind blacking out as she crumpled to the forest floor.

He had been about to turn in and sleep for the night when the figure stumbled into the clearing and made her short plea before she collapsed to the ground. If he had been a lesser person he would have just let her lay there and go to sleep but his conscience wouldn't allow for such chicanery and so he got up with a grunt and went toward her with a bottle of water. First order of business was to get some water in her and then maybe he would look over her wounds and try to do what he can for that.

Armel uncorked his water skin and lightly moved to elevate her head so as to safely pour some water into the poor girl's mouth.

"Looks like ye've been through 'Ell, girly."

The feel of water was what pulled her back to consciousness, swallowing what was given with a bit of a cough. Now awake she lifted her hands to grasp whatever fabric she could, clinging onto him as though terrified that he would disappear if she let go. She took as much as she was allowed to take, and not once loosened her grip. It was a man that helped her, she realized as he spoke. A man that smelt of the forest as much as he smelt like a blacksmith.

"I don't remember..." The female admitted quietly, feeling so much better even with just that little bit of water. It was a far cry from perfect health, but it was a relief. "Thank you so much, stranger." Her sincerity rang in her voice, biting back the urge to cry from relief. Despite the water, her mind was going fuzzy again; she fought to stay awake this time, not wanting to succumb again. He might leave if she did!

Armel felt a bit of relief when she came to, though she was rather quickly invading his personal bubble that he tended to maintain around strangers. He scrunched his nose a bit and let her grasp on to him for a long moment before he took one of her hands and pressed the water skin into it even as he listened to her speak in response to her words.

"Yer welcome. Y'can drink the rest o'that. We're gonna move closer t'the fire, that okay?" He waited to for her to respond for a brief moment before another thought cropped up in his mind. She didn't look like she had eaten much of anything in a long while...

"Y'hungry? Got plen'y food..."

The girl grasped the water skin that was pressed to her hands, patting it until she found the mouthpiece to it and holding her hand there for future knowledge. She'd take a drink later, he was talking to her now!

"Thank you." Still completely sincere, the girl nodded a bit when he informed her of a move. Still holding onto him as best as she could, she struggled to stand. While she could feel the warmth of the fire from where she was, it didn't mean she was going to walk any closer to it on her own. No, she'd wait for this odd talking stranger to help her, and when the time came to move she moved with him.

"I...I'm starving." She said miserably, pressing the hand that had the water skin in it close to her thin stomach, hissing a bit as she apparently pressed another cut. Food sounded amazing, but while she was excited to get some nurishment, she was also quite humble; he was already doing so much for her. "I would love whatever you can spare, Mister...?"

He wrapped an arm around her to help her stand a bit more and move her more easily to the nearby fire. He quietly moved her to sit down in the spot he had occupied prior which was close to the fire but not too close. She was near enough to be comfortable. Gently he moved to get her to let go of him as he let go of her, "I'm Armel," he said simply with no further introduction than that, he didn't feel that anything more formal was needed at the moment.

"Le'go of me so I can get yer food ready for ya, I'm not goin' anywhere," he said simply. It was a promise as much as anything else could be a promise. Besides she'd still hear him milling around. It wasn't like he was a stealth expert or anything.

"Armel." She injured woman repeated after being sat down, her free hand hesitantly letting him go to instead hold onto the water skin, her head tilted away from him still. In all honesty she didn't want to let him go, but he asked...and assured her he wasn't going anywhere. Food was also being made for her, which gave her quite the incentive to be good. She took a drink from the water skin, trying to be conservative for it.

"I'm Sarah." She said quietly, deciding after a few minutes of silence to give her name as well. It seemed only right, in the end! "...I think." She corrected sheepishly; when she thought of a name for herself, Sarah Kahn was what cropped up, without any explanation whatsoever. Another long drink was taken, and when not in use the skin was clung to.

He got her name without even asking for it, he was about to, but he got it without much prompting or any at all. He nodded a bit, "Sarah's a real pretty name," he said conversationally as he spoke to her letting her he was nearby as he left her to go get the food ready for her. Tonight's fare had been some roasted rabbit and a couple of wild root vegetables he had found growing in the forest to go along with it. He put it in a platter for her and moved closer and gently set it on her lap.

"So ye got amnesia? Das no good...An y'seem to be blind? Mind if I take a look?" It seemed a better to ask for permission if he was denied permission to do so then he'd do whatever he could for her other hurts, though he was no healer by any stretch of the imagination. He just knew enough to be dangerous (or helpful in this case).

"O-oh, thank you..." Through the blood and dirt on her cheeks, Sarah blushed; she never recalled ever being complimented before, but that was one in a line of many things she couldn't remember. She startled a tiny bit when the plate went onto her lap, setting the water skin against the side of her leg so she wouldn't lose it. Gingerly, she shifted the plate away from a sore spot on her thighs.

"I can't remember anything...the only thing I can remember for sure was hearing your fire." She wasn't quite sure what Amnesia was, but she could guess by both his tone and her predicament. Her fingers picked at the food, as eager as she was to eat her handicap made chowing down difficult, but she still managed to eat with remarkable enthusiasm. Her hands stopped moving when she realized that he had asked about her eyes.

"No!" She yelled in an absolute panic. The food she was holding dropped back onto the plate and her arms shot up to press her hands against the back of her head, both turning and leaning away from him with remarkable speed for such a weak girl. "P-please, d-don't..." She was trembling now. Sarah didn't know why, but the mere thought of someone going near her eyes was terrifying. "A-anywhere but there..." He could touch or look anywhere else if he wanted, but she just couldn't let him near her eyes.

"Welcome," he said with a small smile. She looked like a horrible mess maybe he could coax her into a stream to get a little cleaned up or something. Armel had some extra clothes that he had washed up and dried out now and he could give those to her to wear because that particular set of clothes he had outgrown a little. Even the ones he currently wore sat a bit tight on him despite his sloppy modifications.

"Mm, well its lucky y'found me, lass," he said quietly and watched her eat. He reached up and scratched at a bit of his scruffy jaw and sighed a bit thoughtfully. What should he do with her? He couldn't let her stay here all alone she obviously needed help of some kind. Maybe he should take her home with him?

He startled a bit at the reaction she gave to his suggesting that he take a look under her bandaged eyes. Armel reached out and gently placed a hand on her shoulder, a comforting one, "Aye, alright. I won't do anythin' y'don't want me to. I just want t'make sure everythin' is alright is all. S'why I asked if I can look but I don't 'ave ta if you don' wan' me to," he said in a tone he hoped was comforting and reassuring.

It probably would be way too easy to get her to go to the stream, she felt disgusting and could only imagine how she looked. The teenager nodded in agreement; yes, she was incredibly lucky to have stumbled across him. She was well aware that if she hadn't, she probably would have been dead very soon. To this man, she owed her life.

The hand on her shoulder did it's job in calming her down, her arms relaxing and eventually lowering back to her knees, curving around the plate on her lap. "Thank you, Armel...I'm sorry, It's just...I can't explain it." She said lamely, picking at her food once more. It must have been a lot longer than she thought since she last ate...after a few pieces her stomach was churning, clearly not wanting anymore. "I'm so...so sorry for yelling at you." The girl said moodily, managing to nibble on a piece of rabbit.

He let out a small laugh and shook his head as he let her go back to eating, "Don' worry about it. We all have our reasons for the things that we do and why we cling to certain ways," Armel dismissed the odd behavior for now for he had no reason or desire to try and get the cloth away from her eyes. Certainly he was curious but unlike most people he was able to keep his curiosity to himself and not feel the urge to press the issue about it. In the end it worked to the girl's favor.

"Af'er ye are done eatin' we can get y'to a stream so y'can wash off," he offered with a kind smile. Armel liked taking care of others it was one of the things he had learned from his family. He watched her quietly for a long moment, "I'll stay nearby but I ain't helpin' y'wash, but I'll chat wi' ye so you don' think I abandoned ya," Armel offered.

The girl nodded a little bit, swallowing hard. It was a good thing Armel understood. It could have turned out...very badly if he didn't. A small, thin smile crept into her lips and the plate was set aside...she had been hungry for too long, she couldn't bring herself to eat anymore. But it was enough to keep her from passing out again! That much she was thankful for.

"You are much too kind, Armel." Sarah said, her smile remaining. She slowly and shakily got to her feet, her body turned towards where she had heard his voice; it was where she assumed he was. "May I have you help me to the stream? I feel...very gross. I can only imagine what I look like..." She trailed off, her dirty hands twisting into her bloody and dirty tattered clothes. Clothes she didn't recognize, nor knew how the stains got on them; but she knew they were there, she could feel them.

"Ah...B-but I don't expect you t-to...h-help." Sarah stuttered out, biting down on her apparently cut lip once his words settled in. Help her?! No! No way! What if she slipped, and the bandage came from her eyes?! Yes, her priorities were a little off, but it was important to her...
