Somewhere there's a stolen halo I use to watch her wear it well Everything would shine wherever she would go But looking at her now you'd never tell
Someone ran away with her innocence A memory she can't get out of her head I can only imagine what she's feeling When she's praying Kneeling at the edge of her bed
And she says take me away And take me farther Surround me now And hold, hold, hold me like holy water Holy water
She wants someone to call her angel Someone to put the light back in her eyes She's looking through the faces The unfamiliar places She needs someone to hear her when she crys
And she says take me away And take me farther Surround me now And hold, hold, hold me like holy water Holy water
She just needs a little help To wash away the pain she's felt She wants to feel the healing hands Of someone who understands
And she says take me away And take me farther Surround me now And hold, hold, hold me And she says take me away And take me farther Surround me now And hold, hold, hold me like holy water Holy water

A brown and green blur bolted through a large field, tears streaming down her cheeks. Her sobs echoed though she fought to suppress them. Her Father...was never going to change back. He'd never love her like he used to...she'd never be Daddy's little girl again. As those thoughts filled her mind she ran faster, trying to flee from the pain. She kept going like that until her legs could barely hold her up. With a thud she colapsed mid stride to the dirt and rolled a few feet before coming to a stop, scratches and dirt covering her as she shakes with hard sobs, barely able to catch her breath in between them. "...DADDY!!"

Ears pricked to the sound of someone crying, Niju hurried at a fairly quickly pace, arriving just in time to see her tumble to a stop. Frowning slightly as he realized he knew this lioness, he gently called out to her. "Kaya...?" he questioned. He would ask her if she was alright, but by the looks of things, the answer would be fairly obvious. Instead, he sunk low to his belly and nuzzled her nose with his own. "Kaya, I'm here if you need me." he said, putting on his warmest smile in hopes that it might calm her tears, at least a little.

A voice reached her ears but it seemed miles away. When a nose met hers her eyes opened halfway, though it was hard to make out who it was from her constant tears. The moment she realized it was Niju she reached for him with one paw, the other a bit battered by the fall. "N...n..niju...h...hold me...pl...please..." Fighting the sobs proved too difficult, and soon she was unable to speak.

Still smiling, Niju gently picked Kaya up and cuddled her in his arms, holding her so that her side was against his stomach as he gently petted her head. "There there, don't speak. Just rest. I'm not going anywhere, so don't you worry." he said, doing his best to sooth her. He gently folded all four of his wings around her, the slightly glow to them felt warm and the gentle humming was almost memorizing. He greatly wanted to know what was wrong, but would not ask until he felt she was ready to share. After all, he didn't want to make her even more uncomfortable or cause her more pain.

Feeling the big male pick her up and hold her in his paws soothed her tremendously. Feeling his wings fold around her and the warmth they give off warming her body her sobs soon stopped. Her sobs lessened to little hiccups from time to time until she just rested against him, clinging to the comforting warmth. "Oh Niju...father is evil...he's staying evil...." She looked up at him, eyes wet still as more tears threatened to spill. "...I've lost him...we used to be so close...but...but now..."

Still petting her, Niju's eyes remained warm and friendly. "I know it hurts Kaya..." he said, wrapping his wings around her even more. "I can't tell you that everything will be ok, but I can tell you that you still have those memories. Never lose them." he said, nuzzling the top of her head with his muzzle. He wished he knew more to say, or that he could help her, but for now all he could do was remain at her side and hold her.

"But why Niju...? Why him...why us? He nearly killed me and yet...I still...he's still my...daddy..." Her paws clung to his fur as she started to cry again, her shoulders shaking, though she wasn't sobbing again. "He taught me how to fly...how to...hunt..." She looked up at him again before burying her face against his chest. It hurt like hell but he was right. She couldn't keep breaking down like this. It hurt but she had to move past it. The pain would probably always be there but...she promised herself then that she would find a mate that would stay with her, keep helping raise their babies and be there even after they've all grown. Slowly she began relaxing, just cuddling up to him now, longing to have this comfort and warmth.

Niju held her even closer, petting her and gently licking the top of her head. "Of course. He will always be your father, nothing will change that." he said, curling his tail about both his and her hind paws. Smiling, he nuzzled her cheek once she had settled down. "You know I will always be here for you. I love you Kaya. I want to help you in anyway I can. But mostly, I want to see you smile. Your beautiful smile that captured my heart from the very first moment I met you." he said softly, and he meant it. Weather she loved him back or not, what he said was true and he would intend to be there for her in any way he possibly could. Through both good and bad times, he would stick by her side.

Kaya's ears perked when she heard those three words come from his mouth. Slowly she looked up at him, grey green eyes wide in shock. "N...Niju...you...love me..?" New tears formed in her eyes, though at the same time a warm delighted smile covered her lips. Her heart was pulsing so fast she was afraid it would pop out of her chest. "I've wanted to say for so long now...I...I love you too Niju...!" Her paws wrapped around him as she licked his cheek furiously, purring and nuzzling his cheek and chin. She'd never felt this happy before, nothing could ruin this moment.

Niju chuckled as she nuzzled him. His heart beat fast as well, though her smile captivated him more. "There is that beautiful smile I have been longing to see." he said with a grin as he took her head in his paws and pressed his nose to hers, taking a moment to stair into her eyes. He didn't want this to end, not now. She looked so radiant when she smiled. A welcome change to the tears that had preceded it. Drawing her back into a hug, he rested his chin atop her head, folding his wings to his back. "My love, we could sit here all day, but would you perhaps like to talk a walk? We can go any place your heart desires! Anything to see you smile more." he said, glancing around at the wonders about them. "Or if you wish to remain here, then so be it. I want you to be happy, and so I will do whatever you ask of me."
