When you finally join a guild, any guild, you will have a beginning rank. Guilds may not share the same titles for each rank. Gaining ranks in your guild allows you access to more quests with higher rewards and pay as well as more techniques.
Each rank has a different set of requirements to achieve that status. Most ranks require you completing a certain amount of quests or being a certain level. Easy peasy.
