It's almost like being in a different building once you descend into the basement of Shibusen. Instead of the open balconies, white hallways and numerous students you get empty stone walls and maybe a few torches.
It's pretty obvious this part of the building was specifically designed to get people lost. Every single corridor looks the same and somehow you end up back at where you came in.
Deeper levels contain bedrooms; cells used to hold witches and other criminals. There are also interrogation rooms farther in.
There are even lower levels than that, but they're completely restricted. There's a sinister feeling in the air farther on that pushes you back more so than the actual barrier between you and the rest of the catacombs. You'll get far more than a Shinigami Chop if you get caught hanging around at this level.
