Rodel smiled, laughing lightly "I see your point." he said and lifted his paw up, the stem broken but it still could live" Well, I know some lions who owe me a favor from a while ago if we need the extra paws for this task of world saving." he set his paw back down "You may have foiled me now, weed. But when we return with back-up and the stars are on our side, you will not be so lucky."

Zia was laughing that Rodel played along with her game, then bounded forward in a half-trot of excitement. "Let's go find those stars to help save all the land! I'll beat you!"
And with that, the lioness took off, trying to get a good gain on Rodel by merit of surprise so she could duck in a hiding place. Once she found one, she skirted in, figuring either she'd have a good round of being able to pounce the male or find herself stuck looking foolish for suddenly given up on the race. Oh, surely she could come up with a good story either way... Like.. Ooh! Lightening bugs. Zia blew at one as it passed her by.

Rodel darted after her "No you won't!" he said and looked at the lightening bugs, loosing his sight of her and slowed down to a halt "Where did she go?" he asked himself out loud and started to look around. He sniffed once and grinned "I know where you are." he said and crouched down, crawling towards the spot she was hiding in. Once he got close enough he stopped and waved his tail, getting ready to pounce her.

Zia's head was turning this way and that as she watched the lightening bugs, her gaze fixated on them as they flew about. She flicked her ear and did a double take as her gaze passed over spot Rodel was at.
"Uh-uh!" She warned, jumping upwards to pounce at the pouncer, "Guess I don't hide well enough." She laughed. "Do you see them, the star bugs? Sometimes I wonder if they're just to tease or to give us special signs."

Rodel's eyes widend as he looked up and put his ears back "Uh-oh!" he said as he was pounced on "Busted! You got me." He rolled onto his side dramatically and batted his paw on her head once before looking at the lightning bugs too "I think they're a sign." he said and grinned, getting up and started trotting away "A sign that I'm gonna beat you to the stars!" he shouted and started running ahead.

"Hah! 'Course I did!" Zia crowed, then promptly put her ears down at Rodel broke her conspiracy-spinning to take off on her. "Huh? Hey, no way! You read the stars wrong!" She hollered back, taking off after him with a smirk.
She enjoyed the run for awhile, pacing herself behind Rodel before hunkering down to try and out-run him. Gonna-catch-up, gonna-catch-up, gonna-catch-up her feet seemed to sing-song as they pounded the ground, and before long she was right at Rodel's flanks, but she was about at the end of her strength. If he hadn't pushed himself already, there would be no catching up. Too concentrated on running to speak, Zia was at least enjoying herself, eyes lit up with the chase.

Rodel looked back, seeing she was close behind him "I'm pretty sure I read them right." he said laughing between breaths and not looking where he was running. "What's the matter? You're not pooping out on me already, are ya?" he asked teasingly, unaware of a hole coming up infront of him.

Zia shook her head, denying signs of exhaustion. Focus on the goal, focus on the goal. She was going to get ahead of him and win this thing! "No....way!" She panted, answering both questions with one response.

Rodel grinned, closing his eyes as he trotted "The look on you face says it..." as he took another step ahead his front paw slid into the hole, followed by the rest of him "Aowoaall...." the final word to his sentence distorted by the face he made as he fell forward in the hole.

Being right on Rodel's tail like that, and not expecting him to suddenly fall over, Zia found herself smacking into him then jumping over top to try to avoid Rodel, not quite clearing him and landing on top.
"Ow, oh! I'm sorry, what happened? Are you ok? Rodel?" Ears back from the surprise, Zia sniffed at the Rodel in her concern.

Rodel laughed a bit "I'm fine." he said, looking up at her "Just inspecting this hole a bit closer." he waited a couple seconds then replied "Yeah, it's a hole alright." he turned on his side so he could see her better "How about you? Are you alright Zia?" he asked, blinking at her sniffing at him.

"I'm fine." Zia panted, and insisted on inspecting each of Rodel's paws before she was fully convinced that he was doing just as well.
... The evening consisted of much the same. Rodel and Zia chatted about the stars and night sky, goofed off about this random subject and another, and generally made fools of themselves in the name of amusement and fun.
They became quick friends through the night, and decided on keeping close contact with one another. There was too much fun to be had together than to part ways entirely.
