I can't help but wonder why Blizz is pushing all this pandaren merchandise all of a sudden when they refuse to make them a playable race.

well i know why they dont want to make them a playable race, they're neutral to a fault. blizz doesnt know how they would make them playable because everyone wants to an there's no way an entire race will chose to side with either the horde or the alliance.
was getting plastered w/ my roommate a while back and we came up with a way to work that. make a later expansion centered around the panderan home island, give the game a nice little chinese-inspired expansion, and set the panderans up as a hero class like the dk's, accessible to any faction. this would work because, lore-wise, panderans dont favor either horde or alliance. some like the horde, some the alli, its all a personal choice. so that way you could have your panda people and pew-pew them too

Even if China did ban WoW, chinese players would just play on taiwanii's servers. Until they made Pandaren a playable class. Then they'd stop playing. The Chinese as general rule really do not like their country's icon screwed around with I guess.

Sounds like it ... I guess because of Shimmer Matataku's post above, that seems like it about summarizes why they'd want those requirements.

Its a lead international position, they dont sounds that strict to me. The pluses maybe(Well, having a AAA title at least). The requirements no. :p ...Unless that was sarcasm. In which case, yes. They're totally strict!

china's problem with the pandaren race is how they act and dress. they are native to china but are dressed in japanese clothing and their culture is more japanese. if blizz screwed with the lore, like they did with the draenei, to make them more chinese, pandaren may never show up in the game.

But the already did, by adding the brew-masters in wc3, they also did change them to a more chinese-look in wc3 after the expansion and such.

No, Pandaren were originally dressed in japanese clothes, which was the cause of the original outcry. They have long since been changed to more chinese outfits.
And as mentioned, pandarens were in Warcraft 3 in the form of the hero, and it hasn't been abandoned in China.
The only reason Pandaren haven't been added is because Blizzard has decided not to.

That and the frequent and extended travel, but mostly because I hate jet lag. xd On the topic: Pandaren don't exist in the game because they're neutral. I know of atleast one Chinese player who plays on US servers and is not a CGF. There are probably more.
