That's odd. Our Thomas helmet came out pretty smooth. After we sanded it that is :P But yeah, baseball helmets work the best.

Maybe I used the wrong kind. Mine says glazing and spot putty. Did you use a different type?

I don't remember what the jar said but it's supposed to be used for fixing dents on cars. It looks like a gray goop and you add a red hardening cream to make it a solid pink plaster. Is that what yours was like?

one of my friends was going to make the guy mask using plaster as a visor, and he was going to have a webcam on the top connected to a PSP inside.
and the goo is called bondo.

Ah! So clever! We thought about doing something like that too but neither of us have a PSP and we didn't think it would fit nicely in front of my face inside the helmet :P But we were lucky that we could see through the tinted plexiglass really well.
And yeah, bondo is what we used :P

Mine is in a tube. Not a jar. And it's like a red/brown color.

Oh okay. I found out that the bondo I used was called body filler. You could always go back and fill in the cracks. Are you trying to build both helmets?

Eh.. I've given up until I can find something to use as a visor. Right now making my helmet would be the easiest sine it's pretty simple in shape and I miraculously found something I could use as eyes.
