Hey everyone, I just checked my inbox and found a phisher message. So I thought I'd throw out a reminder for people to NOT fall for these.
What was scary was that I believed it for a minute or so because of the graphic. Then I wised up and remembered the golden rule: Gaia admins will NEVER ask for your password~!Plus there are so many spelling & grammatical errors. No admin would be so incompetent, nor would their profile be completely bare like theirs was. Plus they dressed like a n00b. stare So I reported the message.
Here's what it looks like:
Can you believe people have stooped to making a graphic that looks official? Gah, desperate dummies. On the purple border it says, "Official Admin Private Message" And the body says:Quote: Attention Water_Angel08, We are sorry to inform you that your account has been brought to our attention. Your account has been REPORTED and needs to be investigated for further information. Like any other Gaian Administrator, we don’t normally ask for this information but to clear your report we must. You will be asked a few questions to verify that this is your account. Please fill out the information requested. . If you were offline when you received this message, you have been given 15 minutes to reply to this message as of the time you logged in or this report will not be able to pass the maintainence. IF YOU IGNORE THIS MESSAGE YOU WILL BE BANNED !!! User Name: Password: *REMEMBER* Type your password with spaces in between Please do not submit PM reports for swearing, attitude, or issues not covered in the Gaia Online ToS. Additionally, please DO NOT submit this form multiple times, abuse this reporting tool, or spam this form with meaningless information. Thank you for your cooperation. Sorry for this disturbance and please also take all of your items off the market for it will make it faster and easier for our staff. You have two minute to send back this form. ©REPORT 423.738.435.889.349
So moral of the story: Before you answer any message asking for your password, remember that NO admin will EVER ask for it, if there are grammar/spelling errors in the message it's probably fake, and if their profile looks new, it's a scam. If anything seems off, just report it.
Oh, and it's been 15 min. and I haven't been banned. >: P

Consistency consistency consistency. Also, spell check. Maintainance is spelled wrong.

There's no such cat in the metropolis, who holds all the pieces in monopoly,
T^T They got me with that...
But this was way back when, just as I was starting on Gaia, way before all the warnings were put out. And I didn't very much like to read them if there were. Take for example the fact it took me two months to activate my account. >w<
for performing surprising illusions, and creating eccentric confusion.
