When it comes to love...
  age doesn't matter!
Well, if the age isn't TOO far apart, then...

Here's an interesting topic: do you think age should matter when it comes to love? i.e. is it okay for older people to date people much younger, and vise versa?

I think it depends on what the relationship's about. If its for money, then no. But if two people really care about each other, it shouldn't matter.

...At least, that's what I want to believe, but sometimes it's a little hard to watch and think about.... sweatdrop

As I've mention, my dad's new fiance and I recently started talking. My dad's at least 43... and I just found out his bride to be is... 28. I, myself am 21... sweatdrop
I think it's great that they're happy and stuff, but it's still weird to picture the two of them... sweatdrop sweatdrop sweatdrop

In my honest opinion, I don't think age matters when it comes to love. So long as the two people involved are both consenting adults and both care about each other deeply, then what's the matter with that? They say love works in mysterious ways; there's not telling who you may fall in love with or even why you fall in love with that particular person, but it's part of life and it's just the way it is. I think it's lovely your dad and his partner have found each other and I wish them luck.

Eh.
Age matters.

In regard too the younger person that is.

If the younger person is over 20, then in my mind nothing wrong with said person dating a 60 year old quite frankly.

But a 14 year old dating a 16 year old?
Pretty wrong in my opinion since there is such a drastic change in maturety in those two years.

if you are legal, date whoever the hell you want as long as they are legal as well.
If you are not legal? Only date people your own age.
One year age difference at the most. Otherwise it starts getting creepy.

God know how slightly creeped out I get whenever I think of the fact
that I went on a few date with a 20 year old guy when I was 14 going on 15.
=/
6 years is too much of an age difference during those years
Dx

But your father and his new squeese?
Bouth nice and legal.
And she's getting near 30 and he's only just over 40.
Not that big of a difference really when you've reached that age I think.

Though I have too say I would be slightly...
iffy for a while if my dad started dating someone who was only 7 years older then myself, so I can see why you are a bit wierded out.

Yeah I know... I'm happy for them, too, but... yeah, it's gonna take some getting used to.

I actually know a guy who, at age... 16? was dating a 10 year old...
...I think that may have been too far apart.

Yeaaaah...
No offense but that guy sounds like a ***** seriously.
A 16 year old is pretty much physicly ready to be sexualy active.
A 10 year old is neither mentaly nore physicly ready for a intimite relationship no matter how mature said 10 year old thinks it is.

So yes.
That's highly disturbing.
And I can say quite truthfully that if I had been related too that 10 year old
I would have been pretty much ready too attack that 16 year old.
And by ready I mean I would have called the cops on him.

Since yah. Not many 16 year olds, male or female date without expecting at least some physical intimacy.

But hey! I don't know the guy. He might be a good person with no ***** that still sounds creepy as all hell

I'd say it depends on the physical, mental and emotional maturity of the individuals.

Yes, I agree. I've met some teens who are more mature than some 'adults'.

I'm pretty much with klikk.
Yes, there are teenagers more mature than adults but at the same time teenagers, and even people in their early twenties, are so easy to manipulate that it makes it hard to tell whether or not that 28 year-old and 17 year-old really, truly, love each other or if the 28 year-old is just manipulating them.

This reminds me of a conversation a friend of mine and I were having a while ago.
We're both attracted to older men, we were comparing actors we find attractive, but we were talking about whether or not we could keep a serious relationship with a man much older than us, ten+ years.
(We were talking about actors, most of which were twenty years older than us.)
We both pretty much agreed that we could have an older male friend with benefits but it'd have to be a pretty special guy to keep either of us in a serious long-lasting relationship.
There's love and lust, something or other.

....
.....
I forgot where I was going with that.

I also feel the same as the majority....
If they're both adults and they're mentally, physically and emotionally ready for a relationship then it's great.

But....I can imagine the awkward feel since you're kinda (quite a few years apart but you're both in your 20's) close in age to your dad's fiance. ^_^ I'm sure it'll pass after a while. 3nodding

It was actually as nasty as it sounded. He was nice and stuff, but...
shrugs...
He was arrested soon after graduation for a similar thing...

I think it would only be a problem if she was still a teenager. Though I have to admit, that is strange. But as long as they love each other, that's really all that matters.
