The savannah heaved in the sun's morning light, the heat rising into a think, stifling haze. The dry earth, devoid of any lush greenery and sparsely spotted with yellowed long-grass, crumbled and shifted beneath the paws of a young lion cub. His path was not straight, his legs barely holding his weight. His head dropped, eyes fixed on the ground as he carried on. Nothing but earth, rock, the odd bug, more earth. Nothing to excite these young blue eyes.
Follow us...we know the way...
Adi'sa lifted his head, and looked around. The voices were back again. He licked his lips, barely wetting them. Since the passing of his Aunt Mahim a few days ago, all he had heard were voices, all he had seen were these strange creatures and shapes, and all he had done was walk. Even in sleep they wouldn't stop haunting him. Well, when he could sleep that is. The nightmarish sounds of predators in the night meant Adi kept one eye open when he tried to sleep. He wasn't sure he could trust these voices or creatures, but had he any other option?
He carried on, the words of his Aunt still ringing through his ears.
