"Ovian is a wolf that appeared to our pack several weeks before I found you," Merrill explained, not once having stopped even when the pup gave pause. "He is a peculiar male with little shown emotion most of the time, but he is a devout worker. If you do not think of me as a model, then at least consider him one." She would have mentioned peers being good models to learn from one another as well, but Derecho had a penchant for wandering off and Aleutian had attention issues if Merrill didn't know any better. When Verse pointed out his supposed "job", the beta shook her head a little. "What you described to me is a talent, yes, but not a job. Of course I will not ask you to stop creating poetry, but you will need to find your place here under a specific job. For now, that is learning about the territory and honing your other skills."

Verse screwed up his face as he tried to take all that info in, Ovian was a new wolf who guarded at night and her would need to figure out a job. In his old pack being an entertainer was a job...bu it seemed things were different here. No matter - he was Verse and he could pull himself up to any task! Well except he didn't really know where to start doing so..

"So..." He asked after a few moments pause "Who's going to teach me these other skills?" He finally asked , looking up at Merrill hopefully. He was sure there were other wolves in this pack just as capable - but well she was the only one he knew at the moment and verse was finding himself anxious to hold on to the one thing he knew in this strange new pack. He sniffed slightly as he recalled that he was indeed in a strange new pack. Maybe..just maybe he was a tad homesick too.

"Anyone one can teach you should you ask, little one," Merrill replied, "but some are better inclined to certain skills. Ki-Adi, another wolf who lives here, can show you how to pup-sit if you feel tugged in that direction when you are older." Though the colorful femme was still less than a blurry figure in the beta's mind; as far as Meme knew, Ki stuck to the corners of the pack and did her job with a bowed head. "Ovian works against the natural time to do nightly patrols as I said, and Green Hare - Enli is a skilled hunter. Corvus . . . I'd rather you did not visit him too much." Her encounter with the green male was . . . well, not very approving to her.

"As your caretaker, however, I should teach you the basics first before you move onto others. Don't worry, I have some credit behind me." Y'know, just in case there was any doubt on that. "But for now, we will circle back towards the dens area. I'm ready for a nap personally."

Pup-sitting? Verse wrinkled his nose and gave Merrill a look - surely he was destined to better things then well looking after well...other pups. The other jobs though - they didn't sound half bad - hunting might be nice and night patrols - well who knew what you might find in the night?And this Corvus fellow...Verse wondered briefly what was wrong with him - something to find out later he told himself with a slight wag of his tail.

"Good, I want you to teach me!' He told Merrill, he was after all the only one he knew well, scrubbing his face with a paw Verse gave a slight yawn before trotting after Merrill again - the long walk seemed to have tired him out and he bobbed his head slightly. "A nap sounds like a good plan to me"
