Alright, I've noticed that some people seem to think that Reiatsu/Reiryoku can counter the force known as Gravity. I just wanted to touch base with the mechanics of Gravity so you kids can understand it a bit better.
Firstly, what I believe is something that many people miss is the fact that Gravity is not a downward force placed above, but rather the planet's pull inward to the core.

Quote:
Every planetary body (including the Earth) is surrounded by its own gravitational field, which exerts an attractive force on all objects. Assuming a spherically symmetrical planet (a reasonable approximation), the strength of this field at any given point is proportional to the planetary body's mass and inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the center of the body.
The key phrase here is 'attractive force', meaning a force that pulls inward or towards.
Reiatsu, when released, shoots upward around the user, while doing nothing to cause the user to float, and then acts as a downwards force placed above the target, or if one wishes to get technical, a repulsion force in the sky. The use of Reiatsu to combat Gravity would actually and surprisingly work in the Gravity user's favor.
Gravity User: Increases a certain part of the gravity, maybe 60 feet all around them, pull by 2x.
Target: Uses Reiatsu to 'combat' but only uses up Reiryoku.
Bystander: Is now subject to the force of the Target's Reiatsu and the Gravity User's gravity
Gravity User: Is now subject to Target's Reiatsu.
In the case that a user makes an ability so that they can float, they would be working against the fact that the Gravity will be pulling down while their other force is pulling up, resulting in heavy strain upon the body. All in all, it's really just a waste of Reiryoku to even attempt this. Don't misunderstand, it is possible to become used to Gravity's effects upon the body, but it would take awhile.
The flip side to this is that if gravity were lessened to make the target float, one should know that just because their RPC can air walk, this would still hinder the ability to move about, as the RPC will have lost most of their initial weight that they would be used to to throw themselves around. Alternatively, once being released from the extra pull, one would experience a light feeling, as if they were significantly lighter, which would also take a few minutes to get over.
Now for combating Reiatsu;
Does a being inside a building stop you from feeling Reiatsu? No. This is because it isn't a mass of force, but rather a force felt in the air and is thus not stopped by solid objects. To this extent, using a cocoon of one's power or Reiryoku is nothing more than a waste. Simply put, the only consistent method of combating Reiatsu is to have a spiritual pressure equal to or greater than the opponent. That and if you have an ability that allows you to manipulate Reiatsu that comes in contact with you or gets close enough, e.x. Yuki's Migarasu.
Now you know. ^-^
