OPSC or the Official Pokemon Sprite Contest
I will dole out the prizes myself and be the host. I need about four judges that will not be participating in the contest to judge the entries for each mini contest.
We had this WAY back in 2007 on the Nintendo NSider forums. They probably have it over at NSider2.com right now but I figure since I never go there anymore, to liven this place up we should have a little "OPSC" of our own.
What this basically entails is a monthly contest with about 8 mini contests included.
Example:
Contest 1
Concept: Design a Pokemon that says "Santa Claus" to you.
Theme:
Season - Winter
Holiday - Christmas
Characteristic - If Santa Claus was a Pokemon
Additional Rules:
None
Then what would happen is people would post their entries in the thread. Of course for february, Christmas wouldn't be a theme. Most likely Valentine's would be for at least one of the mini contests.
For those of you who have absolutely no idea what spriting is, please read the following.
Well... spiriting is usually done on MS paint because of the pixels and such.
Drawing a sprite from scratch is called, unoriginally, 'scratching'.

A mutation is when you take parts from one sprite, and move it on another sprite.

A recolor is simply when you recolor the sprite.

When you mutate, you will most likely recolor while you are doing it to make the sprite look more natural.

This can be done with trainer sprites as well.

Shading is also very important when creating sprites. This will come easier when you practice spriting more, undoubtedly.
Light usually comes from the top left in pokemon sprites and trainer sprites.
ALWAYS save your sprites as PNG format or else they will look all nasty and pixellated when you upload them.

PNG ensures the best quality when you upload.
PRIZES:
There will be three main prizes, and one prize for an 'Honorable Mention' that will be much less than the other three, but it is still a prize.
Prizes might range from 500g to an item worth over 10,000g depending on what I can give for that mini contest in question.
JUDGES INFO:
If you would like to be a judge please PM me and I will give you the details. I would like to set this up by FEB. Perhaps a little before.
All mini contests last about three to four days.

Any questions or comments please post away smile
