My friend and I found a horse rescue that we'd decided to volunteer at, so we called the woman and got directions and set out in the car to go there today for the first time. I was driving and my friend had the Mapquest directions (or at least she was supposed to) and according to Mapquest, it was supposed to be about 20 minutes away in the same town. So we were driving along this straight road, which I kid you not, is almost completely straight for what seemed like millions of miles. So, we kept driving and driving and looking at all the street signs to find where we needed to turn. About 30 minutes later, I started to get worried. The road still seemed to go on forever, we hadn't seen our turn yet and according to Mapquest, we should have been there already. I suggested to my friend that we turn around and see if we missed the turn, but she insisted that we hadn't seen that road yet and it was probably a little further down this endless, straight road. So, we kept going. This road literally seemed to go on forever. Eventually we were in the middle of nowhere, there was absolutely nothing as far as the eye could see except dead grass and this road that seemed to stretch on for infinity. After driving for more than an hour to a place that was supposed to be only 20 minutes away, I pulled the car over onto the side of the road and insisted that we must have missed the turn and we should go back and look for it, once again my friend assured me that we hadn't seen this sign and must not have passed it yet so we go further (why did I listen to her?) As we kept driving further we saw a sign saying that we were in the next county!! That was when I knew for sure that we'd gone too far... WAY too far. So, we'd gone almost an hour away from our destination, but we got there eventually (after almost getting lost again when my friend said we should take a left at the wrong turn and ended up at some weird factory with signs saying we weren't supposed to be there). The whole time we were screaming "OH MY GOSH! WHERE THE HECK ARE WE?! WE'RE OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE!" I never knew there was so much nothingness in Florida. Well, I had a very interesting day today. Sorry for typing so much, I just felt like sharing that and needless to say, I don't think I'll ever trust my friend with directions again. XD
