RP Contest Number 2 Dawn Colored Female - made by FantaLunar Male - made by KuroQuote: These two aren't friends, but neither are they enemies. Rather, a common need has driven them together, joining their paths into one for a short period of time. After all, it's far safer to travel through the wild lands with a companion by your side. Tonight, however, is the last night of their journey - both agree to continue on through the night rather than stop and sleep. It's a dark night - far, far darker than any other seen before on this trip. The two aren't deterred, however, and continue on into the quiet woods. Excitement is high, and tomorrow they both know they'll be with the ones they've been missing. Neither of them could have guessed at the events that were to unfold here tonight. As the writer, your job is to RP as either the lunar male or the dawn-colored femme, and tell what happened the last night from their point of view. The main focus of the prompt, however, is this: One of the two (either the character you choose to try for, or their companion) must die. Tell me how, why, what leads to their death? - In this contest, you MUST RP both of these lions in your story. - You can try for both lions, but you must do a different story for each entry. (as in you can't just do the same story done in the viewpoint of the other lion). - One of them MUST die. However, this does not mean that the one your applying for has to be the one doing the killing. Nor does it have to be the one who dies. - You do not have to keep the story you come up with as the official backstory for the lion...this is just for fun! -What I'm looking for is creativity on how you accomplish this task. For the Dawn Female: Dawn comes, the day begins... Name: (your name here) Name of Lion: (what will her name be if you win?) For the Lunar Male: Day ends and night shadows creep... Name: (your name here) Name of Lion: (what will his name be if you win?)

(This entry is in "Darkpink," but I don't think Gaia is registering it as a color. So just let me know what to change it to) Dawn comes, the day begins... Name: K a o r u S k y y Name of Lion: Accident
Not a sound filled the air as she and her newly found companion walked the pride lands in awkward silence. He was a straggler and she was an unwilling loner, so he seemed perfect for the job. Coincidentally, he was heading in the same direction as she.
He was a brute of a male and quite unattractive - dark blue and scruffy. She didn't pay much attention to his markings, they bored her rather and didn't even have the decency to shine or glow like some mysterious apparatus. The only thing remotely interesting about him was the fact that he was one of those lunar types, so night time was his game and the moon was his playground. Did Lunars wield any special powers? The female shrugged her shoulders and moved on to more appealing thoughts.
Tomorrow was a big day for her. It had been quite the while since she last saw lion that truly caught her eye. To speed up the process, she decided to leave sleep behind for a more adventurous way of covering the remaining miles. As a result, her unofficial bodyguard was found.
Just a few more hours. A few more miles and a few more hours until home stretch. He would be there waiting for her and everything in the world would be right.
"Just a little longer, male" She broke the silence. "How much longer for you?"
The lunar, who had resided behind the clouded female for none other reason but the view, pulled away his gaze to look up. "Just a little longer" He smirked, hiding his eyes behind his long, brown mane.
"Not that I care much, but I never caught your name. What is it?" She demanded.
"Brutal"
"Brutal? What a repulsive name, no offense to you of course."
The male kept silent
"Well," The female huffed, a bit displeased with his lack of manners, "Aren't you going to ask me my name?"
"No."
"Well why not?"
The male stopped walking, keeping his eyes to the ground as his mane covered any and all facial expressions. "Because I already know your name."
The female stopped, keeping herself turned forward, "Oh really? And what would that be?"
Like lightning, she was struck to the ground with one swipe of his paw. She could feel him moving on top of her, his claws digging into her face to keep her cries from escaping. She could smell the blood and feel the pain as he had his way with her, but it didn't last long.
The male sunk his teeth deep into her neck, closing his jaw around her bones until he heard the sweet sound of death as they snapped. He licked her wounds of the blood before removing himself off of her, putting himself back on the trail they had been traveling.
He flicked his moon shaped tail feather once as his mane fell over his eyes once more, "Accident." He sneered, taking a step forward. "Your name was Accident."
"....and that's all you'll ever be."

Dawn comes, the day begins... Name: Rian-chan Name of Lion: Keilani
Pink and yellow feathers twitched in agitation as a female the hue of the morning sunrise made her way across the savannah with a rather irritating midnight hued male walking just off her flank to the left. ”You could say something you know.” she muttered as she tried to locate some sort of landmark that would tell her they were going in the right direction before it got too dark to see. This would be the last night of their journey together and she was eager for it to be over. Now, Keilani didn’t have anything against the male per se it was just that she couldn’t stand others who didn’t give straight answers and her travelling companion just happened to be one of those beings.
For the whole two moon cycles they had been travelling together all she had gotten out of the male was one or two word sentences, or riddles. This fact annoyed Keilani to no end. Often when they were resting during the heat of the day she would wonder to herself why he couldn’t just come out and say what he was thinking and feeling, it couldn’t possibly be all that difficult, she did it all the time. It must be easier than speaking in riddles, right? Much to her frustration Keilani’s travelling companion, whose name she had finally concluded to be Rajnish, refused to converse in the normal fashion. He had told her that if others were meant to understand his words they would figure out the riddle and it was up to the gods to decide. Keilani just shook her head and decided that she would not speak with him unless it was necessary. Her plan had worked, for awhile, but then she found herself with the need to converse and since they were alone she found herself talking to him for many hours at a time despite the fact that his answers were always riddles which would sometimes take her a good hour or more to decipher.
Tonight though Keilani was struck by an odd feeling deep in the pit of her stomach, it made her uneasy and nervous, all of her senses were on high alert and it was driving her crazy, every rustle of grass or the call of a hyena in the distance had her whirling around with her hair bristling as she readied to attack. In a desperate attempt to distract herself she struck up conversation with Rajnish once more. Telling him her whole life story, from how her father was brutally slaughtered by another male before her very eyes as she hid in an old hyena lair, and the time when she and her brother had gone off to hunt on their own and nearly been trampled by the stampeding wildebeest if not for their mother rushing in to save them, to when she was a teenager and had a rebellious streak that had gotten her into trouble more times than she cared to count, and more recently, to the reason she had ended up on this journey with him in the first place, a search for a missing pride member, whose carcass she had found many miles from their home range.
Throughout her whole long winded story Rajnish had said nothing, just nodded his head at the appropriate times and growled lightly to show he understood how she had felt when the events she described were happening. Once he had even brushed her flank with his tail in a soothing gesture, just once. When she finally stopped talking he remained quiet, feeling there was nothing for him to say, until he heard her speak again, a tinge of anger laced in her tone. ”I have nothing to say.” he said, knowing that this was their last night together and that he should at least try not to frustrate her with his riddles as he had been for the past two months. Somehow over the course of their time together he had grown to feel rather protective of the lioness with the sunrise pelt, he knew his feelings were wrong, he should not feel this way about any lioness, ever, he was supposed to be above those things, but he could not deny what he felt. Turning his gaze on her again he saw her frown and look down at her paws in disappointment, a reaction to his statement. A sigh escaped him and he decided that he should at least honor her request. ”What is it you want me to say?” he asked.
Startled by his response and the fact that he wasn’t speaking in riddles Keilani turned to eye him in shock. ”You mean you can converse like a normal lion?!” she exclaimed and flicked her tail in amusement at the indignant huff he gave in response. ”Well alright then, why don’t you tell me about yourself? Or why you were out on your own in the first place? Or why you were heading this way?” she asked in a rush afraid that if she gave him time to be silent he would realize that he was actually speaking with her and change his mind about it.
As if he knew what she was thinking Rajnish moved closer to her, rested his tail across her back and spoke ”If I didn’t want to speak with you, I wouldn’t, but since I am speaking, you can assume I wish to speak with you, and so I will.” He quieted for a short while, his eyes scanning the distance in the steadily growing darkness, knowing that his eyesight was much better in the dark than Keilani’s. Finally he spoke again ”I cannot tell you everything, but I will share what I can.” Soon Rajnish had launched into as detailed of an account as he could give his companion, explaining that he was on a spiritual journey and that the gods had told him there was someone he needed to find that would need his help. After he had finished there was silence for awhile and he kept wondering what was going on in Keilani’s mind. Had he scared her off with his beliefs? Would she ridicule him as so many others had before her?
Keilani listened to her companion speak, stunned that he could actually speak for as long as he did without using any riddles. When he had finished she didn’t know what to say, her mind was still processing everything he had told her and so she was quiet for quite some time. Eventually she spoke up ”You have a very complex history, and belief system, I am glad that you have shared it with me.” Her tail brushed against his flank momentarily and she would have blushed, if lions were capable of such an action. It was then that Rajnish spoke ”Look Keilani, can you see it? Isn’t that the rock formation you were describing to me earlier?” Squinting into the darkness the lighter hued lioness managed to make out the outline of her pride’s den against the light of the stars. ”That’s it Rajnish! I’m almost home!” she exclaimed and within moments she was romping around like a cub on its first hunting trip.
Keilani was making so much noise that neither of the lions realized they were being surrounded until it was too late. The only thing that alerted them to the presence of the hyenas was the unmistakable laughter that was soon filling the night air. The two lions backed up to each other so they would not be caught from behind but they quickly realized they didn’t stand a chance. There were far too many hyenas and all of them looked extremely hungry. It dawned on Rajnish as the first hyena, a female, took a step towards him that Keilani was the lion he was supposed to protect. Once this realization planted itself firmly in his mind he flicked her flank with his tail. ”I will try to distract them, you must run, do not worry about me, this is my destiny, and the gods will decide my fate. Keilani, you must go, it is not your destiny to die here.” he spoke with a firm, commanding voice that Keilani’s own father had used with her as a cub and though she shook with fear and sadness from the realization that this male she barely knew was going to die trying to save her, just as her father had done. As the sorrow and despair crashed down on her she became paralyzed, unable to move, ”You can’t die for me Rajnish, I won’t let you die for me, I have made that mistake before and I won’t do it again.” she declared but her voice faltered and came out far too quietly for him to understand what she had said.
As the first hyena charged forward, signaling the start of the frenzy Rajnish shoved Keilani to get her moving as he swatted as the canines with his huge paws. ”Run Keilani! You must run, you are not meant to die here!” he pleaded with her with his tone and the frightened lioness, who was doing her best to fight off the hyenas attacking from her side could not resist his final request. She brushed her tail against his side once more before she lunged at one of the hyenas, knocking it to the ground, and then she ran.
Daybreak found Keilani resting beneath the shelter of a tree a long way off from where the attack had happened. She had a few cuts but nothing too dangerous and as the sun warmed her sore, exhausted body here eyes blinked open and she looked upon the savannah with eyes full of sorrow and despair. ”Twice now I have let another lion die for me, twice now I have been unable to take care of myself. Father… Rajnish… I am so sorry.” she thought as rose to her paws and continued to head for her home territory.

Dawn comes, the day begins... Name: AriyaLauna Name of Lion: Valera
"Tavius, we're so close that it could practically be sensed. When I get there, I will sleep for a week." Valera spoke the words without enthusiasm, exhaustion having claimed what emotions she might have conveyed otherwise.
"Sleep?" Tavius demanded, letting out a short bark of laughter. He, on the other hand, had hit a second wind that turned his generally amiable attitude into something nearly giddy. "I am going to spend the next week reacquainting myself with everyone and ending this blasted quest." The dark-colored male crouched low a moment, pawing the sand under him, gaining energy under his legs, then bound forward in a fit of semi-recklessness. "Onward, Valera, our prize is before us, and there is no reason to waste our time!"
Valera shook her head, yawning and stretching. That was all well and good for the lunar, he was probably used to night stretches, but she had not been born a creature of the night and could not feed off of the darkness the same way her companion seemed to. She watched Tavius a moment, mentally noting how his tail feather seemed out of balance with the rest of his run, then took off after him.
They had been at a steep hill, what Valera had seemed like a great, final insult. She was already sore, feeling too weak want to bother the whole night, but compelled to go on by her own need to end this business and the enthusiasm of her friend. She watched as the lion in front of her reached the top, then disappeared for going down. The sounds of his gallop changed from that steady rhythm to a skittering, then a roll, and a scrambling.
Valera snorted. Could the journey become more poetic? An ending hill, and an embarrassing fall of the fool who was less cautious around familiar territory. Tavius' yelp told her he'd probably managed to injure himself somehow as well. Going to hobble home on a twisted ankle, was he? It almost served him right.
"Stop, stop! Look out! Snakes! Go around the other side of the tree."
Valera froze at first at the melodramatic shout, then rolled her eyes as she felt that there wasn't any sincerity in the cry. Certainly by the time Tavius had shouted out his last sentence of advice, his voice had went from panicked to his usual laughing attitude. Valera padded around the tree and down, and did roll her eyes when she saw Tavius' limp.
"Panicked by a mock-snake and twist---Tavius, you weren't bitten? Why are you grinning at me like that?" She'd stopped midsentence when she'd seen the clump of snakes, mating in the night, right behind where Tavius was coming from.
"Isn't it just what you said?" Tavius snorted, amusement clear. "Just what you said, you were cursed with ill fortune? Didn't you tell me to watch for the end of the good luck I've had? I think your ill fortunes have ended, Valera. Let's go on."
Valera stood aghast, still and staring at the lunar turned to continue on, determined to end his journey well. He limped something horribly. Now, somewhere, Valera noted that his tail feather worked in unison with his body, careful to help him along. He was saying something---speaking of those he meant to meet, how when he got there, he knew one of the best healers there was to know, and then rattling on about being glad to take life and to keep on moving with it, keep on smiling at it, and to expect the best because the best always came at the end of the worst moments.
Valera knew it was impossible. Dawn, he'd said they would be where he wanted to be at dawn, and had made some stupid comment that she'd snarled at about how he'd hoped the day would break like her coat was colored. She had grumbled about how she would pass out before getting there, as tired as she was. And, now, still, she grumbled within herself. It was too far away for her to be able to run for help.
Her life was filled with ill fortune, and it was best to live critical of it. She wouldn't admit that she'd come close to enjoying Tavius' presence, she would say later that she'd just barely tolerated him and his sunny disposition. He was a fool, and would die a babbling fool, speaking of how it was best to be grateful for what he had, and how he was grateful to have found a companion for the way that would be able to at least end his journey for him and give peace to those waiting for him.
Peace. What a foolish illusion.
All she would see would be a mourning family and a lonesome end to her own journey.

Day ends and night shadows creep... Name: Saint of Revenge Name of Lion: Frenar
Frenar cast quick glances at the female, absorbed in her beauty. She was such a lovely lioness that he couldn't get his goal in mind. Shaking his head, he kept casting the occasional glance her way which led him not to watch where he was going.
The two were walking along the ledge of a cliff, not far from his den. She was supposed to be going back to stay with her mate, who was also a lunar lion. From what she said, he was supposed to be a leader of one of the prides that were along the coast. She had been away visiting her family who weren't keen about living so close to the water.
Frenar knew this, because he'd been sending questions her way all night. She was just so fascinating! Her name was Sofie and she was the head lioness of a pride that consisted of mostly lunar and water lions. Her favorite food was zebra and she met her lover at dawn several months back.
He'd spoken little about himself, knowing that she wouldn't want to hear about how clumsy he was or the fact he couldn't swim because he was uncoordinated. She didn't want to hear about how he was an outcast to most lunars and that he was all alone in the world with no friends or family. No, she had just wanted an escort home and he'd been heading in the same direction.
That didn't stop him from staring and loving her from all that he learned. As he asked her several more questions, he didn't pay attention to where he was walking. All that he knew was that he wanted to steal this female away from her mate. Maybe that was why he walked off the cliff and bludgeoned himself on the rocks below. She was just so interesting he couldn't help himself.
As he fell to his death, he thought he heard her say, "Well, I guess I have to walk home by myself now." When the ending moments came, he embraced the water he'd so hated in life. Walking the rest of the way home, Sofie laughed at how lame the male had been and how glad she was that he was gone. He'd been way too annoying, prattling on and on like he had.
Sighing in relief she smiled as the dawn slowly began, loving the feeling of the sun on her fur and the sea breeze ruffled her mane. Today was going to be a good day, she just knew it. Laughing again, she wondered what her male would think about this Frenar and his going on and on.
When she finally saw her pride settling in for the night, she started running so she could be with her true love just a little bit sooner. Sofie went over what had happened and the two shared a laugh. Her mate told her he knew of the other male, and they laughed a bit harder at his antics before settling down to sleep peacefully.
