Singer cites 'irreconcilable differences' in paperwork filed Friday.

Jessica Simpson, whose split with Nick Lachey was announced last month, filed for divorce on Friday (December 16).
Simpson, filing under her legal name of Jessica Simpson Lachey, cited "irreconcilable differences."
In the paperwork, Simpson requested Lachey not be awarded spousal support and listed their community property as unknown at this time. It will be amended at a later date.
According to California law, money earned during a marriage is equally divided between the spouses unless there was a prenuptial agreement beforehand.
Simpson and Lachey married in October 2002 and used their marriage, via the MTV reality series "Newlyweds," to catapult their careers.
After months of tabloid speculation, the couple announced on November 23 that with "careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways" (see "It's Official: Jessica Simpson And Nick Lachey Split").
Lachey has since signed on to play a newlywed in a sitcom pilot for the WB (see "Nick Lachey A Newlywed Again").

Singer rushed to hospital; no details yet on nature of her ailment.
The singer is in Asia to promote her new album, I Am Me, and was the headliner of MTV Japan's Cool Christmas concert at Pacifico Yokohama. According to eyewitnesses, Simpson walked off the stage midway during her second song, the single "Boyfriend," confusing the crowd, since the band continued playing. Her band then finished the song and started playing yet another one, but still no Simpson. Finally, the singer returned to the stage, accompanied by VJ Teppei, to apologize, saying that she'd been touring a lot and was losing her voice.
Simpson later collapsed in an elevator at the channel and was taken by ambulance to a hospital. "She's still in the hospital, on an IV," her father/manager, Joe Simpson, said Friday (December 16).
The singer will miss her scheduled appearance on Monday at the Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas. A representative for NBC, which will broadcast the show, said Bo Bice would replace Simpson on the show.
