Have you ordered fish that were shipped to your home?
Yes, and it was a good experience.
Yes, and it was a bad experience.
No, but I may consider it at some point.
  Nope, and I refuse to! : P

Irrlich brought up shipping fish, and it reminded me of something I have been looking into--ordering Killifish eggs from Ebay. If you are not familiar with Killifish check them out--gorgeous fish, the eggs are easily shipped due to the nature life-cycle of the fish, and quite a few species are at least fairly mild tempered.

I will be take a shot at ordering a batch today; for $11 including shipping, what's to lose? I think I will go with the N. Eggersi species. They will take a while to ship, so in the meantime, discuss:

1. Any experience or info you have regarding killifish
2. Your mail-order fish experience
3. Good companies to order from
4. Anything else slightly on-topic wink

I got Axolotl eggs in the mail once, and most of them hatched in transit, so I opened the box to find many little larvae swimming around. I've had good experiences shipping and receiving shipped fish. Only once did I get a DOA, when I first bought a BN pleco. They sent me a new one free of charge.

I've kept and bred Aphyosemion gardneri var. "Misaje" before, and they were very fun to keep. Most killies are egg scatterers so I would suggest putting some java moss in the tank. They will also lay eggs in spawning mops, but the java moss is much prettier. 3nodding

Aphyosemion gardneri is a lovely one. I'm having such a hard time really deciding on which variety I would like best, they are such great group of fish!

One thing I keep hearing is that when any killifish is referred to as "aggressive," it doesn't hold true across the board-one person will say they had no issues while another will say the opposite with the same variety. What would you say is your take on the mannerism of your particular group of fish? I am trying to hit on a fish that won't be too aggressive, they will end up with a school of corys I don't want to be pestered. Shouldn't be too much of a problem though, I have noticed that corys tend to fly under the radar of just about anything else in a tank. I suppose it is because they keep to themselves mostly, they are too proccupied with climbing over each other all the time. Especially when they think a flood is coming! sweatdrop

And no, I have not ordered the killis yet. I was filling up the tank to test its water-holding abilities, and it didn't. xp I will have to wait a couple weeks until a batch of cory fry are big enough to put into the community tank.

Actually, I have a strange aversion to java moss, the way it takes over a tank, the way it looks, even the way it feels! I hate the stuff, although I can't quite pinpoint the exact reason why. sweatdrop Hopefully the fish will be ok with mats of dwarf hairgrass and baby tears!

I love those! I have always wanted one, but I just never seem to have a spare tank when I think about it. Perhaps one day... whee

Yeah, they are something. I was cleaning out an aro tank at the aquarium, when I happened to pass by a tank almost hidden, and I saw a familiar word written on the glass. Upon closer inspection, 4 JUVI AXIES. I squealed.

Find out where the leak is from and seal it with food grade silicone (cheaper than aquarium silicone, works the same.)
