Absolute Imperfection While I never cared for Dimebag, or pantera for that matter (Cowboys from Hell and Walk are good though) I still respect him for what he did to music... even if it was just popularize the whammy bar just that much more/add a little southern rock flavor to metal.
RIP.
He still isn't one of the best guitarists out there, and anyone who says he is doesn't know real guitarists. He is considered a great guitarist because he taught himself everything that he knew about guitar. 100% self taught... Someone like him does not come around often. He developed a good technique and played whatever he thought sounded good to him. That can only be said about a few guitar players.

I still greatly respect him. I, honestly, having nothing but it for the guy. I've nothing against him (except I never really cared for Pantera... see my quoted post though ;] ), I just don't feel like he is as good as people make him out to be.
He's kinda in the category of Jimi Hendrix. While Jimi is a GREAT guitarist who, actually, did a lot for guitar, his leads weren't that great. His rhythm playing, however, and his use of embellishments are what made his playing great and unique (just like how ANYONE that listens to any sort of rock/metal from the 90's/early 00's can tell Dimebag's tone/style)... but he doesn't deserve the title of "Greatest Guitarist Ever" that I hear him getting often.
You dig?
Again, I've nothing against him but a wall of respect. Just making sure you don't think I'm bashing him!

Peek Aw Chu Metalheads will know the date. People who like good music won't, though. Dimebag just annoys me. And his tone is s**t, too. (: I'm a metalhead, but I don't like Pantera. I like good music, but I don't like Pantera. He was still a good guitarist.

Jimi and him were great guitarist because music was living inside of them. I believe anyone who influences millions of people and revolutionizes guitar can be considered the greatest guitarist ever. Now saying that I also don't think they are the greatest guitarists ever, but they never had a chance to prove that they were because the both died kind of in the middle of their careers. Just as they were getting better.

I still think of them as some of the greats (They did revolutionize music as we know it... or at least guitar razz ) but the "influences millions of people"... I don't agree with that. So does Britney Spears... but she's not considered one of the greatest pop singers of all time.
And agreed with the "they never had a chance to prove" thing.

Absolute Imperfection Labyrinth Shredder Dimebag was a great guitar player. He could do some really really badass shredding (more than he showed with Pantera) and his phrasing and vibrato were simply badass. His tone was totally solid for how he played. Anyways, he wasn't the best ever, but no need to talk s**t on him now since he's gone. The important thing was his strong spirit and that he had a heart and soul in his guitar playing. If you claim to be a rock guitar player then you can definitely learn a thing or two from Dimebag, rather than blindly feeding your own ego. Dime was our brother, and he still is, you really need dont need to be in this guild if u disrespect his life and his legacy. but what do u expect from an ugly troll rolleyes R.I.P Dime Unsure if referring to me... would make sense xp Though, not a troll, if so... just a fellow mod.nono not you lol
