Guess what, it's another case of unsupportive parent syndrome! I have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for about two years now and have decided that I want to go all the way and become vegan. The under-cover pictures PETA took of the Land 'o Lakes dairy farm horrified me, plus dairy messes up my stomach. Anyways, I live with a cheese-crazed omnivore family, and my mother is not happy... I keep trying to tell her how horrible the animals are treated and how much healthier vegans are, but I guess she's stuck with using dairy after doing it for so long. I guess I should just look up easy vegan dishes I can make myself for when we are having a non vegan friendly meal (if you have any good recipe websites feel free to post!), but the problem is we don't usually have many vegetables and other ingredients around that are free for me to use, and I'm sure she would freak out if she had to buy extra stuff for me... I'm doing the best I can, using rice milk on my cereal, and olive oil instead of butter on bread and stuff, but it is still quite hard. I at least tried to switch us to rennet free organic cheese for now, but it's pretty expensive and my mother still uses regular to cook with, so I guess I'm not even a true vegetarian... I am so sick of this! Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't know, maybe I'll just have to wait until I move out...

Never mind... A told my mom how much I want to do this, and we talked it over. So everything is okay now, and I'm going vegan! ^ ^

Due to having parents that didn't really care much as long I was healthy, it's hard for me to give advice or empathize with those with close minded parents. Congrats on getting on the same page with mom smile
