Some wolves were born with the world in their mouths. Others, with the world on their shoulder. For Reese, she was born with a world no where to be found, and that was the worst of all. It was one thing to act a fool, another to feel a fool, but a separate thing entirely to be a fool. Surely that's what she was, a joke to entertain the spirits above her. Why else would she be thrust from one unwelcome situation to another?
Ignorance did not overwhelm the omega. She was not compelled to do stupid things. And yet no matter how she reacted, or how much she fought, the brown female could not escape ridiculous life moments.
From being abandoned in the care of a brutish idiot as a pup, to being beaten into a slave role by a blind brat, to being constantly chased by a thief, and now the escapee of one of Keegan's numerous plots. She was a mouse in a maze, and the goal apparently wasn't for her to ever reach her cheese.
Huffing and puffing, the female's knees buckled as she collapsed beside a fallen log. Exhaustion enveloped her half-starved form. Keegan thought he was mighty funny, a real comic. The blue wolf and his loony sister had kept her at the bottom of a pit for days before she'd finally caught a break and duped a stranger into setting her free. It was all she could do to lick the snow surrounding her for some form of sustenance.
Even the damn fox had left her. Why, why was her life such a game?
"If I never see another male again, I don't think it'd trouble me." She groaned, before blacking out entirely.

Ovian was out on a patrol around the territory, as was part of his duties and his lifestyle. He had been known by his pack as the lone type in a pack. He wasn't much for socializing just yet but he wanted to so bad. He had this urge to speak to the wolves. Particularly Merrill because she intrigued him in a strange way. The way he socialized was his duties. He faithfully patrolled every dawn and at the end of the day before the sun set he would do a quick run down of a certain area he found suspicious before heading to his den where he would lie there and think of his life.
The teal orbs darted and he realized that he was getting very close from getting out of the YMCA Pack's territorial bounds. This was where he heard a rustle and a groan of a wolf. Who could it be? He didn't think there were others this far out at this time in the morning. Ovian naturally woke up earlier than most of the wolves and left before anyone, except Menelaus and Chivosi sometimes left a little earlier than he did. But he felt he had to earn himself his spot in the pack.
The dark male padded towards the sound and in the small dirt opening in front of thick brambles was a weak, thin looking wolf. She seemed to be passed out for her shoulders were slumped and her senses did not sense him coming nor being there. She needed help and Ovian was unsure if he should come closer. He was standing right where the edge of the pack's territory lay. Would he risk his life for this weak omega? Yes he would. Ovian had grown strong ever since his life in the pack for he was fed well for catching a large part of the meals for the weaker wolves. His maw clamped over her neck and firmly he dragged her closer onto their side of the line. How would he wake her up? Well, he would just wait for her then.
And the waiting began..and it started with a couple hours...and then a couple hours more..

It certainly was a considerable amount of time before Reese began to stir again. Albeit grogily at first. Senses abandoning her, the female's head bumped against herself and the floor a few moments before she even bothered to open her eyes. Life fluttered back into her limbs as she stretched her chilled feet and glanced warily around.
And where the Hell was she now?
Why things such as being in completely separate places from where you awoke and where you last remember being still troubled her was anyone's guess. Truthfully she should have become accustomed to it by now. Maybe life would just be too droll if she actually expected and received predictability.
With apprehension her senses took in all the different smells. Ah, terra incognita. Everything here was a new experience. If she had more bravado she would have claimed to be an explorer, traveling the world with the intent of mapping the most unexpected places. She certain wound up in them easily enough.
What a gift.
Her neck was sore. Ask no questions, it's quicker that way. The scent of another wolf caused her ears to plaster themselves against her skull. Not daring to move to drastically, she peeked cautiously in the stranger's direction. Of course this would happen to her.
"How do you do?"
She hoped it sounded confident and tough, as if swagger and skill would make her appear far better condition to protect herself and intimidate strangers than she was. But it came out as a croak. Bother. Pains flared up in her stomach and she wondered for the gajillionth time why exactly life was so long.

"I should be asking you that," Ovian replied. He was slightly worried for the female but yet he stood firm where he was. What if he wasn't suppose to bring her close and help? He was still a little muddled by the pack rules and had only remembered a couple so far. Every day he had to try and remember them.
"Who are you? Are you from a pack? I cannot stay here for long with you or they will wonder where I am," he asked. She didn't seem so...well alive to him. She even kind of looked nearly dead. It was quite troubling and disturbing for the dark male.
So what was he still doing here?

Reese considered his questions for a moment of two. In her younger days she would have found it deplorable that anyone thought it within their rights to interrogate her, particularly when they were likely the one to have put her in such a situation as it was. But she was a little older now, and a complete world away from energy. As if vivacity dwelled in an alternate universe, and in this one she could only be a haggard shadow of her form self. But no matter, things go on.
Unfortunately.
First things first. Pack. Well, no, she supposed she wasn't in a pack. After all, any packs she had ever been in she always left. Nothing had succeeded in holding her down thus far. "I'm in-between packs at the moment."
There you go. A perfectly respectable answer. After all, given her history it wasn't too all improbable that she'd find herself in yet another pack, again, in too long.
Her voice was hoarse and strained. Closing her mouth and swallowing a few times she took a mental assessment of her body before even considering sitting up. Could she handle it? Likely not. Not yet. Next time. Yes, she just had to wait a bit.
A light flickered in her eyes as she remembered the first part to his question. Who was she? Well who was he? After all, he was the stranger here. "Reese," she drawled, looking him straight in the face. "That is my name. Who is they?"

"Reese, I mean they as in my pack. The Y-M-C-A pack. I've only joined for about a week but they have many rules, though they are soft on those who are not in packs. You may come if you'd like and stay, or we can help you find your way and sharpen your skills so you may eat better. It's all up to you," he replied. The dark wolf still wasn't sure what had happened to the Reese. She looked as if her body was here but her soul was elsewhere, wandering from the body, leaving it weak and helpless. But now that he had offered her his help, Ovian was unsure if he should leave her for awhile to find her some food. Then he realized that he had forgotten to introduce himself.
"Oh and my name is Ovian, if you were wondering." Nah, she probably wasn't wondering. He doubted she cared a single bit about him. She was so woozy it looked impossible for her to even get up. What was he suppose to do now?

Y-M-C-A? Lordy she needed to pay more attention to the goings-on of this area. Perhaps that was why Keegan was always sticking his nose every which way it didn't belong, so if he ever found himself in such a situation as this, if one were to look past the fact that he was the cause of said situation as it was, the male would know enough about it all to take charge of this Ovian.
But Reese had better things to do, or rather everyone else had better things for her to do. Freewill was more like having the opportunity to frown while doing something, as opposed to protest the task all together.
"Ovian." She mused, eyes drifting over her surroundings. She ate just fine. Health conscious, sure to fulfill her self-created food pyramid each day. It was only when all normal functioning was prohibited, such as the privilege of water, sunlight, or warmth, that the female also found herself in a position lacking considerably in the food department.
"This wouldn't happen to be a stark raving mad pack, now would it?" Crazies were best avoided, not that one could tell instantly the mental health of most, even this seemingly kind Ovian. Yet the mention of food swept her up, now if only it had more backbone and could carry her too.

He sighed and looked away. Reese didn't seem to be making herself clear. Ovian began to pad away and said to her, "I'll be back." before going off to hunt for a meal for her. Even if she wasn't part of their pack, he didn't see the problem in giving her prey that was in their territory, but perhaps he was wrong. It didn't matter anyways, he was just doing what his instincts told him. The dark male was taught this way and he wouldn't change them.
The male sniffed out the air, smelling squirrel and rabbit along the trees. Perfect, he shifted into his hunting stance and slowly walked along, his paws making nearly no sound. There. A rabbit nibbling on some sparse grass by a gnarly oak tree. Ovian moved into the darker part of the shadows and began to come closer to the rabbit when crack! He looked down to see that a small twig had snapped underneath him. So he had been gaining more weight and wasn't as quiet as he was before. The rabbit snapped its head up, its ears pricked. When it turned around, it spotted the dark wolf and sprang swiftly across the forest. The wolf chased after it, crashing along in a smooth manner where he would go from side to side to confused the rabbit. When he was beginning to see the rabbit was becoming tired, he bolted across and pounced on the prey, giving it a swift kill on the neck.
Ovian grabbed the rabbit by its neck and began to walk back to Reese, who would hopefully be thankful for his kill. If not, well, he'd just bring it back to the pack and leave her there.

Although noticeably odd when it came to first impressions, Reese was not altogether an ungrateful charge. Her skeptical and strained expression seemed to lighten at Ovian's return. Even she knew a good thing when she saw it.
In the silence of his disappearance she could almost fancy she heard the sounds of a hunt, but she wouldn't flatter her imagination with such notions. After all, in the past day or two she'd also believed herself to have seen skunks gnawing her hind leg up to the joint, and after a frenzied fit she'd found it inarguable that all four appendages were present.
As the tantalizing smells reached her, the female sat a little straighter, and appreciation settled into her hungry eyes. Food probably would help considerably, it was a shame she hadn't thought to stop her running and find something for herself as it was. Even plants would have made progress in filling out her caved in sides.
With a low whine she hoped she expressed at least some of her gratitude towards him. Undoubtedly she came off rude at times, despite her intentions, but in her current state of being it really wasn't easy for her to express herself rationally.

Ovian heard her whine, sensing it was a whine of gratitude. A bit of pride swelled in his heart, the thought of giving something to someone in need. The wolf dropped the rabbit delicately infront of the she-wolf and nodded his head. It meant she could eat in his presence. Ovian backed away, closer to his side of the border and circled around before flopping into a lying position. The dark male watched Reese gorge into the rabbit, the fresh blood staining her muzzle. It appeared she was hungry, ravenous most likely the word. Her starvation must of caused the faint and the hallucinations or drogginess. Whatever happened to her, Ovian felt quite sorry for Reese. She didn't seem to have a family. He could understand that. He had only just begun to adjust to his life in the pack. Even then, Ovian did not have friends there; just some aquaintences.
