Small but cozy, Chaeren and Yersith's weyr suits them well. Chae doesn't like having to much space to look after, and Yersith spends most of her time outside sunning anyways. Complete with a private bath, the weyrsinger is more than happy with her simply furnished room. Soon it will be filled with not only herself and her dragon, but her five, as of yet unhatched, flits.

Name: Chaeren Age:21 Sex:Female Height:5'10" Rank: Wingrider and Harper in her spare time Family: Chaeren has no family that she is aware of, as she was found as an infant, abandoned on the steps of the harper hall, and was raised by the various ladies that worked there. Description:Chaeren is tall for a woman, only two inches shy of six feet tall, with long black hair that falls to the base of her spine where it curls slightly at the ends. She has grey eyes and fair skin that burns easily in the sun if she doesn't cover up or apply a special cream to prevent her skin burning. When not in her riding clothes, her usual style of clothing is a special shirt that is tight around the bust, and loose around the torso with long and full sleeves, accompanied by a vest. She wears both a skirt, and a pair of loose pants along with a pair of soft leather boots that come up to mid-calf. All this is in varying shades of blue unless it is a special occasion. Personality: She is a naturally kind person on the outside, always smiling at a person before frowning, and always willing to give a person the benefit of the doubt unless there is proof the person has done wrong. Sometimes though, Chaeren can unexpectedly become quite violent should a person push her happy nature one step to far. On the whole though, she is a very pleasant person to be around, and will do anything for a trusted friend. Her main instrument is a mix between a Citar and a Guitar with a sweet, pleasant sound that is sure to please. this instrument can also be played with a bow to get a deeper, more resonant sound. She can also sing and play just about any other instrument thrown at her. History: Abandoned and left at the front door of the Harper Hall as an infant, Chaedren was taken in without a second thought, and raised there. She had no one person that took care of her, rather all the ladies that worked within the Harper hall, and even some of the men, had a hand in her raising. Surrounded by such good hearted people, she too became a pleasant and outgoing young woman who trained as a harper from a very young age. Having spent all of her time amongst harpers, even before her formal training, she learned all she could about music. From singing, to playing instruments, to writing her own songs. She was an avid learner and made her way quickly from apprentice to journeywoman, at the age of nineteen. Having gained her Journeyman knots of her craft, Chaeren decided to settle in no one hall, but to travel all around Pern, from Hold to Hall to Weyr, playing her music and teaching ballads, while simultaneously looking for her place in life. It was not more than a year after she became a journeywoman that Chaeren traveled to Benden Weyr for the hatching ceremony. It was then that she rather unexpectedly impressed her lovely green Yersith. Two years later she transferred from Benden to Rias. (see impression post for details)

[image here] Gicitar: Chaeren's unique instrument constructed by her. It is a mix of a guitar and a citar, with a high sweet sound when played with the fingers. It can also be played with a bow, resulting in a lower, more resonant sound. Dragon Egg Shell: The shell that Yersith hatched from nearly two turns ago. Chaeren managed to go back and collect it's pieces before the remains were cleared away. It has great emotional importance for the Weyrsinger as it reminds her of the day she first met her dragon.

Neal: info coming Lir: info coming Ciel: info coming Eori: info coming Basa: was the first of Chaerens flits to hatch. He is very possessive and is always the one to sit on her right shoulder, reserving it on his right since he is the eldest.

Chaeren could hear the Weyr long before she ever saw it amongst the mountain peaks. The sounds of bugling dragons, music, and people could be heard for a mile around it seemed. But then again maybe not. Chaeren had always had sensitive ears. The journeywoman harper swayed with the loping gait of the runner beast beneath her. She rode like someone long use to the saddle, which she was. One didn't constantly ride about on runners for several years without getting a certain knack for it. As Chaeren approached the entrance to the Weyr, the number of other travellers increased as well. The young woman dismounted and led her runner the rest of the way up the path until she finally entered the Weyr bowl, where the beast was taken and led into the stables off to one side. Before she allowed it out of her sight though, the young harper grabbed her instrument and placed it on her back. She couldn't very well harp if she didn't have an instrument. Chaeren had never been to this particular Weyr before, and so she merged with the crowd and followed it's flow until she reached the hatching grounds. Apparently she had arrived just in time, for just as she entered, the dragons let out a low and simultaneous thrum from deep in their chests. It vibrated through everyone there, and sent chills up the harper-girl's spine. She quickly made her way to the nearest free seat and seated herself there. She was lucky, she was only three rows away from the sands and she watched the eggs avidly. There were no queen eggs in this particular clutch, but hatchings were still important none the less. The dragons and their riders were vital to the survival of everyone on Pern. The dragons increased their thrumming until every other noise was covered and no longer audible. The group of candiate that circled the eggs watched the eggs with as much intensity as the harper. Suddenly, the first of the eggs cracked and out tumbled a young bronze. A group of boys instantly moved in and the dragonet had soon found it's partner. After that, the hatchings seemed to happen all at once. Blues, greens, browns and bronzes all sprang forth from hardened shells and found their partners. Chaeren let out a sigh of envy. To be partnered to such a magnificent creature...The girl couldn't even fathom how wonderful it must be. Screams and cries of pain jolted Chaeren from her admiring reverie, and everyone else too, apparently. The entire crowd of spectators turned to look at the north end of the hatching sands to see what had caused the screams. Several girls lay on the sands, bleeding from severe scratches on their legs and arms, while another was skittering away crab style from an advancing, and clearly upset, green dragonet. The thing cried out pitifully as it searched for it's partner. apparently none of the girls who had tried to approach it suited it. The harper couldn't help but feel bad for the thing. To be all alone with no one to be with you...she continued to watch as the kreeling dragonet waddled around the sands in a lost manner. Why was no one getting up to help it? Were they all so afraid of being scratched that they wouldn't help the poor defensless creature? The girl suddenly felt compelled to go to the dragonet, to soothe the green and tell her everything would be alright, that it would find it's partner. Before she even realized what she was doing, Chaeren was on her feet and descending the stairs to the sands. Several people reached out to stop her. They grabbed at her clothes, and at the instrument on her back. But she pushed right past them all, ignoring their calls and warnings. What cowards! She reached the lost green and kneeled down before it and crooned to it soothingly. She reached out and stroked it's smooth head, all the while telling it that everything would be fine. The dragonet, who's eyes had been swirling with yellow anxiety, instantly calmed at her touch and moved in closer, crooning happily. There you are mine! I have been looking for you. I am Yersith! And I am very hungry.Chaeren looked down at the dragonet, shocked as the creatures small voice rang in her mind. She hadn't meant to impress the thing, only help it! Surely she would be punished for interfering...and yet...this glorious creature had chosen her, above all others. No, whatever the punishment, Chaeren vowed to always stay by her dragons side. "Her...Her name is Yersith!" she called out proudly. She silently promised her new life partner that they would both go and get food as soon as possible. This seemed to please the dragonet because she crooned happily and butted Chaerens hand for more scratching. The harper smiled down at her dragonet, filled with an indescribable happiness as she pet Yersith tenderly.

Chaeren came into her weyr almost at a run from her dragons sunning ledge on which they'd just landed. She'd been expecting total chaos, but instead found her four newest flits sitting in a circle around her elder one, Basa. He may have been only a day older, but he sure knew how to use that to his advantage apparently. Basa had succeeded in martialing the other four into a semblance of discipline. being young the four still shifted from side to side at times, but that was understandable. Chaeren came to a halt in her door, hardly able to comprehend what was going on. Finally she just laughed, unable to do anything else. All the flits started into the air in surprise at the sudden noise. When they saw who it was though they all flew towards her, swirling and dancing about her form in amazing arial acrobatics, all clearly sending feelings of great hunger to her. "Okay okay!!!" the woman cried, throwing her hands up over her head in surrender. She headed over to the bag of food Talon had brought by earlier and was pleased to find it hadn't gone bad, meaning she wouldn't have to wander around the Weyr with a hungry fair of flits until she found the kitchen. Chaeren sat herself down on the floor by the dying fire in the fireplace and was instantly mobbed by hungry flits. Feeling that this wasn't going to work if there wasn't some semblance of order, Chaeren put her fingers to her lips and let out a high, pierceing whistle. That got their attention. All of the firelizards stopped mobbing her and froze, looking at her intently. "That's better. Now then...All of you get in a row in front of me!" she said, and visualized what she wanted them to do with her mind and sent it to each of them. With some small mutterings on the part of the flits, they all eventually got in a row in front of her and sat back on their haunches and looked at her expectantly. Chaeren nodded and smiled, letting them know that she was pleased with them for doing what she said. A few of the flits sat up a little straighter for it, though still watched the bag of food closely with quickly whirling eyes. she tossed a cube of meat to Basa and he caught it neatly in his mouth. The blue she'd decided to call Ciel tried to intercept it, but the bronze batted the smaller flit away easily with it's wings while catching the piece of meat in it's mouth and rumbling happily. Chaeren reprimanded the blue and instructed them all to wait their turn. Eventually they got it down to where she would feed them each a piece at a time until they were all finally content and sleepy with little bulging bellies. All of their yawning made Chaeren yawn as well, not to mention realize just how sleepy she was as well. This was magnified by Yersiths on sleepy thoughts as she came into the weyr and flopped down on her couch. Chaeren was barely able to pull of her outer layers before collapsing onto her bed and managing to pull a blanket over herself. The last thing she heard was Yersiths on sleepy snort and the quiet mutterings of firelizards as they they too settled down for sleep.

A warm, moist breeze blew in off the ocean, stirring Chaerens long, slightly curled black hair as she walked along the beach. The sun reflected brightly off the blue-green waves and the pure white sand, making Chaeren glad that she had liberally applied sunblock before coming out of the shade of the trees she and yersith had landed amongst. One pale, long fingered hand rested gently on her large green dragons side as she walked, casting her blue grey eyes across the brilliant waves of the ocean. Far off in the distance she could see small forms jumping on the horizon and splashing when they landed. "Ah! Look Yersith! Shipfish!" the woman cried in surprised delight. It was her first time ever seeing one, even if they were so far away. 'Those jumping things on the horizon? Mine, are you sure they are fish? I have never seen such a large fish before.' Yersith replied with dubious curiosity. "Well, some of the sailors say they're not really fish, but that's what everyone refers to them as anyways." Chaeren explained to her dragon as they walked side by side down the beach.
Yersith only yawned in reply. They had gone swimming earlier, having the most fun Chaeren had had in quite some time as they had frolicked amongst the waves. Now no doubt all the green wanted was to bask in the sun until they both had to leave again.
Chaeren stopped walking when they reached a place where the cliff they had been followed curved out slightly, leaving a bit of shade on the opposite side. "Here love, why don't you have a good bask here and i'll go lay in the shade?" the rider told her dragon with a smile, and was rewarded by a warm feeling of happiness and gratitude from her dragon whom proceeded to stretched herself out on the hot sands out of reach of the water. Chaeren chuckled at her green, petting her on the head gently as she walked off to the bit of shade that the cliff provided. Luckly there were not to many rocks, and the white sand was soft as the raven haired woman lay herself down in it, breathing deep of the salty, warm air.
Chaeren was brought back from her deep sleep by the sound of a low thrumming. At first she thought it was Yersith and almost rolled back over to go to sleep once more. She was brought back again though by the sound of singing joining the thrum. Now, her sleepy brain reasoned, not even a dragon could sing and hum at the same time. Perhaps someone else had shown up? Charen rolled over once more, this time to look over at her dragon. Yersith was alert and awake, and watching something with great interest as her blue eyes whirled quickly in anticipation. 'What's going on mine? What are all those voices?' she asked sleepily as she got to her feet and wandered over to her dragon a little unsteadily as the blood rushed from her head after lying down for so long. As she walked she finally noticed that she hadn't seen her flits since their swim earlier that morning...Where had they gone? (to be continued)
