Well, Let me start by saying this, I was not originally inspired by glee. although I adore the program, i just found a youtube video of a show choir before the actual TV Show came my way. it was of a all girls show choir, and it just knocked me off my feet. Well, Of course, those of you who live on the continental us may say "oh its easy just start one and in a few years build up funds to go to competitions" Problem: Im in the middle of the pacific ocean. I've thought of the possible challenges , considering iff I DO start one, itll be the only one for...lets see, 5000 miles. Ive seriously went to show choir websites and only found one listing in hawaii. they were disbanded 6 years ago in 2004. well....advice? should I just give up? go dig a ditch? or take the proposal to my choir director? o-o

DO NOT let it go. Propose the idea, and see where it goes from there. Even though you may not be able to compete with other show choirs for a while, you could still host concerts and perform for others, preparing for a concert is almost as thrilling if not just as thrilling as preparing for a recital/concert. So yeah I'd say go with it, who knows, maybe u'll start up a trend and there may be other show choirs started in the area.
I live in Jamaica, and my University doesn't have a show choir, we have a regular vocal ensemble (we sound awesome if I do say so myself lol) If school wasn't as demanding, I'd probably think of starting one for my University! Our High Schools are the ones with show choirs apparently u outgrow them when u get to University.

I would take the proposal to my chroal teacher. I started a show choir a few years ago, but I live in the continental US, and it's been super fun! Mine has yet to go to competitions...
