My mum is argh! so annoying!!! She doesn't want me going on the pill cos he doesnt liek the side effects! But i mean come on, I may NOT get them as bad as others. it would really help out my acne and make me feel safer, especially since i have to sexual partners!

So then either offer to pay for it yourself, if you're old enough to do so, or tell her you're sexually active and you want to go on the Pill so you have a lesser chance of getting pregnant. If you're old enough to have sex without your mom knowing, then you're old enough to tell her what's going on instead of sneaking behind her back and going on birth control.

(I know this is a contradiction to what I actually do in real life, but I've paid for my own birth control since day 1 when I was 17, with only minor help from my ex. I still pay for my own Depo, with minor help from my boyfriend if I'm low on money when my next shot is due. But for the most part, I pay for the prescription myself. I've been responsible and mature enough to know what I'm doing, despite the fact that I haven't directly come out and told my parents that I'm on birth control or that I'm having sex. It's a case to case basis, but I'm usually one of the exceptions. I'm also a legal adult, so even if my mom DID know and had a problem with it, there's nothing she can do. Period.)

Best thing to do then would be to invest the money into some lotion for your face rather than going for the pill nearly only because of that.

About your two sexual partners, use condoms. They're more efficient actually.

Please explain to me how condoms are more efficient?

Of course condoms are the best protection against STDs or STIs but not against pregnancy. (Even with proper use.)

Quote:

Of 100 women whose partners use condoms, about 15 will become pregnant during the first year of typical use.* Only two women will become pregnant with perfect use.** More protection against pregnancy is possible if condoms are used with a spermicide foam, cream, jelly, suppository, or film.

The pill is one of the most effective reversible methods of birth control. Of 100 women who use the pill, only eight will become pregnant during the first year of typical use.* Fewer than one will become pregnant with perfect use.**

@Barbiegirl- Perhaps you could get a GYN nurse to talk to your mother. Or you could suggest Ortho Tryclin Lo. It has less hormones in it than other Birth Controls which results in less Side Effects or less serious side effects.

Planned Parenthood has condoms pegged at being about 98% effective against pregnancy at max (when used perfectly). The Pill is 99%, Norplant is 99.6%, and Depo is 99.7%. So it's one of the better methods compared to things like contraceptive sponges, diaphrams, and spermicide, yes. But against some of the hormonal methods of birth control available, then not always.

I dont think condoms are actually more efficient, according to my doctor birth control pills when used properly are usually more effective than condoms

The Pill is more efficient - condoms are pegged at about 98% (when used properly) according to Planned Parenthood, while they put the Pill at about 99% when used properly and perfectly.

What side effects is your mom worried about? You being less likely to get pregnant? I mean... seriously!

Is it the cervical clotting business or the weight gain? If it's either of these, most people don't have any trouble at all (I actually lost quite a bit of weight when I first went on the pill that I gained again when I went off it, so symptoms really depend on the individual). As for blood pressure, cervical business, etc... just have an exam before you start taking the pill, then have another exam 1-3 months after you've started taking it. After that, just go see your gyno once every 6months or once a year just to make sure that everything is still going good. You shouldn't have much trouble.

In North Carolina, if you are 16 and you want birthcontrol, you can't be denyed. The only thing that you need to do is go to Planned Parent Hood and tell them your situation.

my mum was the same...
So she took me to the family planning and made me get the implanon.....
That made me bleed all the time so I end up going on the pill... and now I got it out of my arm so I should of gone on it in the first place.. LOL

Maybe u can discuss with you mum other contraceptions??

The reason my mum didn't want me going on it was of cancer and the factg I still could get PG on it

I don't recommend the pill.
The hormones are very dangerous and will change your body.
(small Hairs might grow on your breast for example)
Use a condom instead.

A pill will not protect you from AIDS

i love birth control because its easy to use. i have the patch tho cos my boyfriend is from a diff place so he isnt as sterile as other people and the patch gives u twice the ammount but its all cool, my mom smokes and i smoke never so i have no side effects at all so as long as you avoid smoking or being near it like i do (my family is very suseptable to heart problems) its all good. i have almost no acne anymore, except when i forget to wear it or im on my monthly. get it.
