Digital Malevolence My Hollow That's too bad about the show. I knew how much you were looking forward to that. I felt kind of the same way when I went to my ebm/aggrotech show. Well, I'll probably end up seeing Cyanotic eventually, unless they break up. But they just put out an album, so I'm guessing this tour was to promote it. Usually bands will do another tour or at least a mini tour half way through their getting songs for their following album, so it a year or less I'm sure they'll be around. It really wasn't too bad of a show, just a bit disappointing. @Volvy: Me too, which is why I'm pissed I can't find a download link to their EP, but I'm seeing them on Friday. So I'll probably just buy it off them. It always feels a little more gratifying to buy a physical copy of an album anyway smile

But they actually have pretty much the whole thing up on their myspace and I liked all the songs I heard so I'm sure it will be worth the purchase.

Digital Malevolence I still haven't really looking into FLA for some reason. Like Volvy, I prefer the harsh style vocals to clean ones on most occasions. Also, I just found this band, and they are pretty awesome. Judging from this video, they put on one hell of a concert too. ]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLEsINOcyrU The same recommendations I gave Volvy apply. Give 'em a try.
And while I admit that the clean vox in a lot of EBM acts are, uh, challenging, I can tolerate and even enjoy most. FLA or Front 242, for instance. I think I just get bored of hearing the same unintelligible, distorted screams everywhere. EBM is already a genre that has trouble differentiating itself without everyone using the same vocal techniques.

Also, I was right, The Ludovico Technique does put on a great show.

I figured every so often I'll just post the current artists I discovered and am enjoying, in case anyone is interested in new music and hasn't heard any of these. Pneumatic Detach (Powernoise, this is one of the best Powernoise artists I've ever heard, and I can't believe it took me this long to find them, since they've been around for years.) PreEmptive Strike 0.1 (Aggrotech/EBM) C-Drone Defect(Aggrotech/EBM. I had heard about them for a while but I never checked them out until recently. Now I'm kicking myself for waiting so long) 2 Times Terror (Electronic influenced Metal/Rock.)

I just heard the latest promo tracks for Die Sektor's upcoming album, Applied Structure in a Void, and I think this is most definitely going to be their best album. The album is to be released Novamber 25th, and I can't wait.

Had a listen to the three tracks available on the MySpace. Of the three, "Death at First Light" was the stand-out; reminds me of "All Turns White" from To Be Fed Upon, which I loved. "Accelerant" is too bombastic and lacking subtlety, though I think I detected a little bit of a psytrance flavor on that one, which is interesting. "Fall to the Noise" was something new from them, with its alternating harsh and clean vocals and slower tempo. Sounds like Dioxyde, if anything. Well, with clean vocals.
All in all, I'd say it's an album I'm going to look out for, provided most of it isn't composed of the repetitive bombast of "Accelerant."

I enjoyed they hard edge to it, its what I look for in my Aggrotech bands like Die Sektor. I like their lighter side they seem to be showing with the new album, but its just not the Die Sektor I've come to love. Either way, its really awesome. 3nodding I hope they do a tour to promote it, I mean, seeing as how they are a U.S. band theres a pretty good chance they will, and come around me area.

Also, Ash, have you listened to Waves Under Water? I think you should check them out, very beautiful music, one of the few artists like with both a female singer and with clean vocals. Usually I don't like either, the only other one I can think of is Z-Effektor that fits both those things.

I think there's actually a pretty good chance of you getting to see them live, given that they're based on East Coast. Georgia, sure, but the Northeast is well within driving distance, and I'm sure a large enough concert would make it worth their while.
Re: Waves Under Water. That was really quite good, thanks for the rec. I have to agree that it's rare that I hear a female vocalist that doesn't strike me as grating or saccharine. My only criticism is that the actual music is pretty enough at first blush, but seems rather simplistic. That is to say, apt to wear out. I dunno, maybe I'm just being overly critical. As far as electronic music goes, I've been very enamored of Velvet Acid Christ the past few months. Hardly obscure or original, I know, but I never gave them a proper listen before. I regret it - the catalog is so diverse that labeling them EBM seems more like a matter of convenience than of accuracy.

Hopefully I can make it to the Triton Festival in NYC this year, I couldn't make it to last years.
Yeah, VAC switches it up a lot but I'd still say they seem to stay in the EBM area more than any other. Either way, everything they do is Post-Industrial, so if needed, I'd probably just use that term. And I actually haven't checked too much into them, I've listened briefly to almost all their albums but still haven't given them a good listen.
Lately I've been kicking myself for not looking into the Revolting Cocks sooner. Such a great band.

Well, good luck. Hope it works out.
That's a fair enough assessment. I'd agree that EBM is the bread and butter, but there are usually a few tracks on each album that aren't EBM at all. Darkwave, minimal, breakbeat, all sorts of electronic music. My two personal favorites are Calling ov the Dead and Lust for Blood. Probably where I'd start. Obligatory samples:
"Timeless Visions" "The Hand" "Parasite" "Psychoaktive Landscape"
As for RC, what I like most about them is that they don't take themselves at all seriously. There aren't enough post-industrial artists out there that take the piss out of the genre's cliches. On the musical front, though, they're not something I listen to regularly. Or Ministry, for that matter. I'm more attracted to the Skinny Puppy/KMFDM school.

Has anybody ever listened to Senmuth? The puts out albums like a maniac, so his discography is way out of hand, but he does a range of stuff that includes darkwave, EBM, ambient electronic, and industrial metal (along with about a half-dozen other things) and some of his material I've heard sounded really good.
