Hey, is anyone attending Anime-Kon 2010 in Dallas, Texas in June? If not, Shame, it's loads of fun.... If So, Sweet! Then the next question, Are you participating in the Symphonic Anime Orchestra? I've already signed up and been accepted, and I'm so excited. =D
If you haven't heard of it and you're attending and want to join in the requirements are: 3 years experience with private lessons or 4 years or more experience with a big group (band, duh) Also to know the music before the Kon arrives.
Google Symphonic Anime Orchestra and it should be one of the first links, then sign up under Anime Kon 2010 and fill out the form, then check your email for an answer within a few days!
Anyway, that was all of that, it was just a curiosity thing, carry on XD

I wouldn't be able to go anyway, but I'm just curious: does the years of experience count if you've played different instruments? I've only been playing oboe for a year, but I've been playing saxophone for about seven years now...

They would accept you for Saxaphone definately, and they'd probably not accept you for oboe
