Well, it's good news for me, at least. So, the other day, I figured out... my girlfriend's pregnant. I'm actually excited, the only problem is I'm going to have to finish school later. Unless I take online courses, but I'm more focused on the baby for now.
But, this is the biggest problem...she just turned 16. I'm still 15, turning 16 in July. So I'm sure laws change from state to state, so anyone here live in Ohio that's from the United States? Just wondering what the law is. I heard she can move out as long as she has permission and is pregnant at 16. I'm sure my Mom would take her in, so by the end of Summer we may move out somewhere less crowded. As long as we have permission, that is. Sorry, I'm a bit too tired to Google. Yet I'm too excited to sleep. This is gonna be interesting. 'o.O
Any hints of advice for us? Any good baby names? (We have two names, one for a girl and one for a boy. We still need a middle name for the boy, though)

Not to judge or anything but aren't you a bit young?
I don't know much about laws in the US for moving out. You're happy so I don't think you want to hear my knowledge of abortion laws. sweatdrop Because the only laws I know are laws about protesting, age of consent, and abortion laws. I don't know if it's legal or not, but how's the law going to know if no one reports it? Unless her mother and/or father reports her as a runaway the law's not going to know that she's not living at home. I don't know any rules about living alone though. I thought you had to be 18 to sign a lease for an apartment but I could be wrong.
The only thing I can think of to say is make sure that you want this before you go through with it because having a child is a big decision and will change your life.

I believe at age 16 you can legally be disowned, but you can't rent an apartment on your own, or a motel/hotel/whatever until 18.
Though I think you're far too young to start a family, congratulations to the both of you, and I definitely wish you two the best.
Make sure to get a job sooner rather than later.

Happy would probably be the last thing I'd be if I got my girlfriend pregnant.
Me? With a girl? Ha! Like that could ever happen! HEYO! (Heh. Self degrading humor.)
Anyway, despite how I, the only thing that truly matters is how you feel. So, since you are happy, congrats!

Wow that's big. I'm glad you're happy though, just make sure to get as much support as you can and to try and finish your education, you don't need me to tell you it's not gonna be easy. But it'll be worth it wink
I'm afraid I can't help you with the laws thing (in england the law of consent is 16 and with parental permission you can do a lot of legal stuff at 16 so you should be able to get child support etc)
The best thing you can do is research what governmental benefits you can get first and foremost, since babies are expensive and it's going to be difficult getting in employment. yet again i'm not sure how it works in Ameirca, but there's got to be some sort of child-support welfare payout, surely? I can understand you having to be a legal adult to get an apartment, so perhaps your parents would have to lease it in their name until you're old enough. Living at home sounds like a good idea, provided your parents can deal with it ok. There's no point in getting into debt at your age, especially when you're not even working yet..

Wow!! That is huge news!! You can take online courses for highschool? *But then again I guess it's the same as being schooled at home. hm...
Congrats!! ^_^ That is young but It's nice that you're excited about it and concentrating so much on the baby! I'm not sure what the laws in Ohio is...(I'm not even sure what the PA law is here either). But I'm sure as long as her parents are fine with her moving in your house then it shouldn't be a big deal and like someone else said...who's to know? ^_^ Check out babynames.com. (I think that's it) They have so many different kinds of names!!
@Goldman That's...interesting. So at 16 you can be legally disowned by your parents but you can't get a place to stay until your 18? o_o The law is so confusing sometimes. That leaves a person with only the choice of a hotel but even that will be pricey since you'll be paying for every night you stay. sweatdrop I thought that was an interesting fact you stated. 3nodding

I am decently sure you are also not interested in hearing my knowledge of legal baby abandonment via hospital, fire station, or police station. sweatdrop
Raising a baby is not easy. If you are able to, watch the show Teen Mom on MTV. It is rather educational on the difficulties of being a teen parent.
Don't quit school. BIG mistake. You cannot do anything without an education unless you wish to work at McDonald's for the rest of your life.
I do wish you the best. Good luck!

1) Congrats on the baby. And congrats for being a good father. It's pretty obvious that this little guy or girl is going to have a nice father in his life. (Wish I had that sweatdrop ) Ahem... my problem, not yours. 2) I agree on not quitting school, too. Whether you have to start taking online classes, or simply leave for a semester or two, don't give up. Working at Wal-Mart or some sort of call center isn't a real life. (Seriously, tried both, and neither worked out well.)
