Upon the bed they all sat; the fox-girl, the deer-boy, the guardian kitling, and the tiny fairy and their friends; each in their own way sharing about their favoritie moments together. Pictures lay strewn about the bed between them all, held up from time to time to help identify the particular situation the "speaker" was trying to relay. Extravagent hand/paw/hoof gestures passed between them, sometimes as effective as any words could be. Paper and crayons were also splayed around the bed, for those who wanted to draw their stories, instead of the other options.
Ryuuen started the whole thing off, as Angie recalled, by bringing the pictures and paper over to the bed. Angie'd brought them over to the Manor in which Kellen stayed, so they could spend some time together. Being as it was raining, going outside to play and explore was out of the question, so they'd all trundled up to the room to find something to do. Being the curious kit he was, Ryu had instantly found the pictures that Angie stored here so she could show them off, since hardly anyone visited her house, (for obvious reasons. She was hardly ever there, choosing to spend more time out and about with others.) Bringing the smallish box of pictures to the bed, the kit flapped his wings, noticibly grunting with the effort to get the box up on the bed. Once he made that feat though, he sat on his rump and with his paws, flipped the lid open and turned the box upside down. This brought a gasp and a startled stare from Angie.
"Ryuuen SilverShadow! What on EARTH do you think you're doing?!" This turned the heads of the other scampering members of the family, each in turn rushing to the bed to peer over the edge. Oooo looked like someone was in trouble noooww.....
Ryuuen simply pointed at the pictures and held up a pawful. His head tilted to the side, looking at Angie as if to say 'I have an idea. Can we play?' Various colored eyes turned from Ryuuen to Angie, then back again in anticipation of what was to come. The puri, boundless child, feien, and lunec girl all waited with baited breath, for a scolding. Each were pretty pleased it wasn't them going to be the ones getting in trouble. However, Angie surprised them all by simply chuckling and scooping some scattered photos out of the way, before sitting down.
"Alright everyone. Gather up on the bed. We've got a lot of pictures here, and plenty of ideas with which to use them. So, who's got some ideas?" Ang wagged her tail slowly, allowing the others to tumble, fly and hop their way up on the king-sized bed. Almost immediately after they were all settled, each and every one of them started chittering about their own ideas. Reneeka, the feien, wanted to make a slideshow, as she'd never seen one of those before. The lunec, Talina, wanted to make a big picture out of all the others, maybe cover the wall with them. Seiteki, the puri, looked to his companion and close friend Ryuu for guidance as to what to choose. The boundless deer-boy simply wanted to stare at certain pictures, and began making a pile of "his" pictures. One's he didn't want anyone else to have. The poor thing was still longing for the cold of snow to fall once more.
Ryuuen skittered off the bed though, and pulled out a drawer in a nightstand next to it. Inside had been some paper, coloring books and crayons that Angie'd bought to use for art projects. It was these that the little kitling took out, holding them tightly to his chest with his little paws as he fluttered back up onto the bed and flopped down beside Angie once more. Holding these tools out, he pointed to the pictures, then back to the art supplies. Angie wasn't understanding though, and neither were most of the guardian's peers. What was the kit wanting to do? It took a few moments for the puri to understand his own best friend even, but when he did, he was eager to share with the rest of them.
"Ryu wants to tell stories with the pictures and the paper. Of stuff we've been through, together." Seiteki proudly puffed up, curling his tail around himself as he translated Ryuu's silence into words. It was a wonder how those two got along, but it seemed like they perfectly understood each other.
This idea, of course, appealed to everyone, even Kellen, so Angie had no choice but to laugh and nod her head. "Alright alright. Sounds like a good idea. Who wants to start though?" Everyone started hopping around, wanting to go first, but Angie looked towards the purple kit, and smiled fondly down at him, before pulling him into her arms. "Would you like to go first little one, since it was your idea?" This elicted an excited nod from Ryuuen, who quickly skittered to the middle of the bed, despite the pictures that were there, scattering them into everyone else before he plopped his plump little butt down. It wasn't but moments later that the story appeared to be in full swing. Holding up pictures of his egg, and Seiteki's egg from before they were hatched, Ryuu pointed to himself, then Seiteki, then crossed his fingers. Seiteki took up the initiative to do his best to translate the silent kit's story.
"Ever since Sei and I were eggs, we were good friends." Ryuu rummaged through the pile, then held up another picture, of Seiteki when he'd hatched, curled up around his egg basket, as if to keep him warm. "Even though he came out of the egg before me, we still were very close." The purple kit looked towards Seiteki and threw his arms around the puri's neck, catching him offguard and sending them tumbling back towards the pillows. A moment later, Seiteki disentangled himself from Ryuu, laughing. "I guess that means that we're still best friends even now." To which Ryuu nodded his head exuberantly.
"Wow, pretty story Ryuu, good job!" Angie pulled both Seiteki and Ryuuen into her lap as best she could, and snuggled them both. Turning to the rest of the group, the fox-girl laughed, pointing to the pictures. "So, who's next?" The middle of the bed was dogpiled by the other little one's instantly. "Alright alright! Let's see..... I'm thinking of a number between....1 and....15. Closest guess gets next shot. Sound fair?" Everyone seemed pretty up to that idea.
"Umm... 10." Reneeka piped up.
"4! Please!" squeaked Talina. It was a miracle she even got the word out period, considering how absolutely hyper she was, combined with the fact that she was concentrating on crossing everything she owned for luck. Her legs, fingers, eyes, arms, toes, everything..
"Me...8!" Kellen's whisper was barely heard as he continued to dig through the pictures at his feet to find his special ones.
Turning to Seiteki, Angie smiled. "Which number would you like?"
"I'd like 13 please..." The puri was rather bashful, obviously nervous of his turn coming up, which Angie noted instantly.
"And the closest number is thir...er...ten. Rene, it's your chance!" The number she'd picked was 12, but considering Seiteki's visible nervousness, she figured it'd be better to not make him go quite yet. Let him get a few more ideas, and a bit more comfortable with it first, right? "What kind of story or memory do you have to share with us, Rene?" Reaching out her hand, the fox-girl held it out as a platform for the tiny feien.
Reneeka, being the diva she was obviously born to be, took the chance to shine and hopped up on Angie's hand. "Well, I suppose my story will be about...." Pausing for a moment, tangerine eyes glanced over the pictures below them, looking for something to tell. Although she'd wanted to go next, it hadn't hit her that it'd be good to have something on hand to tell about. One picture caught her eye though, and she struggled to lift the paper up since it was as tall as she was, and wider than her wingspan, more than ackward to hold onto. The feien was rather relieved when Angie took the picture from her and held it up for all to see. The image was of the pretty orange caged butterfly Rene had requested on her shopping trip. "Remember when my butterfly arrived, and our pixa-kitty friends all tried to climb into the cage to get at it? I remember that quite well!" Fluttering around in a zig-zag happy action, holding her hands out and gesturing largely to emphasize the severity of her words.
"I was so mad! If any of the cats had gotten my butterfly, I don't know what I would have done. The fact that they could climb up the cage stand surprised me so much. I just can't believe it even now. Thank goodness for sturdy cages!" Rene looked so completely serious, it was hard not to break into laughter.
And while the fairy was thusly occupied with her story, Kellen mischievously slid some of the paper and a couple of the crayons towards himself and ducked down to work on something. It appeared that he was drawing his own story, though because of the position he took, it was hard to see what exactly he was doing. All the while, Rene related about how sore she was about the fact that her precious butterfly had nearly been kitty-chow. She was joking mostly, dramatizing the whole situation for the simple reason of making a story. It didn't take long for Kel's work to be noticed though, before he was through.
Squealing unhappily, the feien pointed at Kellen's picture. "Look at what he's drawing! He's trying to make fun of me! Really he is! Aaaannnnngggiiiieeee make him stooooop!" It was this final outburst that set everyone to laughing. "Haha! Bu'fy go bybye!" Kellen obviously enjoyed torturing whoever he could at the time. A little monster he was becoming.
Angie couldn't help but fall over onto the pillows laughing. "Oh come now guys. Can't we all get along?" A resounding "NO" was spoken in unison despite the giggles and fits of laughter that broke out all around the 'circle'. "Alright alright. Kellen was only playing around, Reneeka. Weren't you Kel?" Turning her gaze towards the deer-boy, Ang winked his way, giving him the silent message that he wasn't in trouble. He got it, and nodded solemnly, as if she'd scolded him harshly. "Okay. And Reneeka, you know that the kitties weren't going to eat your butterfly and things turned out alright. Right?" Reneeka in turn, nodded. "Then we're alright and happy and ready to move on. Right?"
"RIGHT!" unison was the answer yet again.
"Who's turn is it now? Did we decide who went next? How about you Kel? Since you're in the mood to tease and play." Tugging the little boy onto her lap, Ang gathered the small pile of pictures he'd claimed. "Are these the pictures you want to use for your story sweetie?" A small nod came from the little boy, as he grabby handed for the pictures, then fumbled through them to find the right one. The picture he chose was the one of him and the others around a rather largish snowman.
"Dis...'now. Fun fun. 'now...man an' Wuuu, an' Eeka. Ann'ie! 'Now, 'now!" It was hard to follow the little deer's lack of sentence structure, but since they all knew about the vacation and such, they could pretty well guess what he was saying. 'This is snow. It was quite fun. Here's the snowman Ryuu, Reneeka and Angie helped me make. Snow! Snow! I want the snow...' Those who'd been on the vacation with Kellen nodded slowly, agreeing with the little guy. The snow had been fun and was a great time together. They all wished for the time and chance to do it all again, but none as much as Kellen himself. Sniffling softly, the little deer cuddled the pictures to himself. "'Now....'now...want 'now..."
"Aww sweetie..." Hugging the little boy close, Ang motioned all of them to come closer and snuggle the little boy. To let him know they all understood and loved him, and that it would be okay. Each one of them gently wrapped their paws, hands, or whatever else they had around the group in sympathy. "It's alright Kel. We all want the snow too. I never seen it 'cept in your pictures, but I think its awesome. You have to show me someday, ok?" Talina spoke up, wanting to comfort her brother. "It's alright buddy. We'll see it again. Don't worry, okay?" Seiteki did his best to help comfort, although he wasn't entirely sure what to say. Ryuuen simply hugged them all, and Reneeka kept silent as well, not sure what of what to say.
It was a moment or two before Kellen was able to lift his head and nod meekly, slightly embarrassed that everyone had seen him nearly cry. It was another moment or so before he could sit up, being crushed to Angie's chest effectively by those who loved him. "Alright. So who's next? 'Lina, how about you? Sound good?" By choosing another one to go, Angie hoped to lighten the mood and get everyone happy again.
"Sure! But I don't see pictures I wanna use. I'll tell though, ok?" Rewarded with a nod, Talina continued. "Ok. I 'member when I was brung home. A baby. You all seemed nice to me, and cared for me. It made me feel good. Wanted. I thank you all." Talina wandered around the bed, giving each and every one of them a hug and peck on the cheek. "Thank you muches!" Laughing softly, the little lunec plunked back down in her spot, looking towards Angie to see if she was done. "Thank you 'Lina! That was sweet of you!" Clapping happily, Angie turned to Seiteki.
"And last, but certainly not least, your turn Sei. Do you have a story for us?" The puri froze in his movement, unsure of if he heard right. He-he-his turn? "I uhh....." Something dawned on him. "My story is right here, right now. Each of your stories meant a lot to hear. I wasn't....sure of going at first. I didn't mind helping Ryuu out in his, but I wasn't sure about what to do for my own. But listening to all of you... I decided that my story would be right now. This is the best story I could dream to tell. Having fun, listening to everyone as they talk about their favorite memories and such. It makes me feel- oh I don't know. All warm and fuzzy inside?" Seiteki blushed underneath his white fur. It wasn't often that he expressed himself in such ways, but when he did, it was truely heartfelt.
"Aww sweetie. That's one of the sweetest things I've heard." The fox-girl was near tears by now. Each of their stories had touched her deeply. They were her family, and sharing special points about their life to each other and herself.... It made her feel rather special at that moment in time. Something she hadn't been feeling lately. "All your stories were wonderful little ones. Thank you so much for telling them." Holding her arms out, she invited them all onto the pillows with her. Each and every one of their eyes were beginning to droop, the sound of the rain on the windows a dull hypnotic sound lulling them all to sleep. "A nap sounds good right about now...doesn't it guys?" Murmurs of agreement fluttered across the group as they snuggled together. There'd be time later to tell more stories, but for now, a nice nap was just what the doctor ordered.
Each fell asleep, one after another until finally there was Angie, still slightly awake. Opening her eyes for a moment, she smiled. "Sleep well little ones...." And with that her eyes closed a final time, her body succumbing to the feeling of tiredness and bliss that had claimed her companions. With any luck the rain would stop sometime while they slept and the sun would peek out, drying things up before they woke up. So they could all go out and play for a while....
