Reiki New Moon Meditation

1. Pray by giving thanks that you are clear and open channel for Reiki to flow through and that your personality and ego stand aside, so the Reiki will flow in its clearest and truest form. Give thanks that you are open to receive the guidance of angels and masters who have come forth to assist you.

2. Prepare you energy field by strengthening your light. To do this draw a large Usui power symbol in front of you and move the energy into you etheric field. Draw small power symbols over each of your charkas beginning at the base. Pause and beam Reiki into your energy field and toward your solar plexus and heart.

3. Call on the Divine, and the ascended spiritual masters and beings. Welcome them, and give thanks for their presence. Give them permission to assist you in creating your sacred intention, and helping you manifestation your visions.

4. Invoke the Usui mental/emotional symbol. Write down your sacred intention for this meditation. Include your personal goals, and also your intention for world service. It can also be helpful to draw something that represents your vision. A new moon journal is very helpful. Channel the mental/emotional Reiki energies into your written intention, and state your intention.

5. Invoke the Usui distant healing symbol imagining that you are creating a bridge of light from your heart to the hearts of all the spiritual beings who are assisting you, and all the other people who are joining in this group meditation around the world. Allow yourself to feel each soul linking with yours, and to feel the illusion of separation melt away, and you recognize the Oneness of all creation. Remember that Reiki transcends time and space. (note: if you are attuned to the Reiki Master or Karuna ReikiĀ® symbols you can add them to the meditation)

6. Meditate and transmit Reiki for as long as you feel comfortable.

7. Give a prayer of thanks.

8. Draw a large power symbol over your body with the intention of disconnecting from the meditative process, and knowing that each person is disconnecting also and returning to their individual life expressions with clarity and aligned with their soul purpose.

Past Lives Meditation

This should be done with a partner, in case you get into such a deep trance, or you get upset and you need someone to help pull you out.

First off you must perform a cleansing and grounding ritual/spell.

Lay down

Make sure you either tape your experience and/or have your partner write down what you say. (This can be said out loud by your partner or you can do this internally; But, if your partner is saying it out loud, you must visualise this scenario.

Picture a huge beautifully architecture library. (let your imagination run wild)

In front there are 10 giant steps leading up to the front door.

Very slowly climb up the stairs counting each one. (your partner may want to count you through this) This is the meditative steps to put you into the mental state to accept the information.

When you get to the top of the stairs, Imagine a huge door, with a giant knocker.

Knock on the door.

Someone will answer the door, - this is your spirit guide.

Tell him/her what it is you would like to see (as in a certain past life, or something in general)

At this point you may or may not have a lengthy conversation with your guide, s/he might be concerned with how you are going to handle this information etc.

Next, Ask your guide to lead you to where you can get this information.

Picture another door behind the guide, and have the guide walk you through here.

S/he will lead you into another room, and sit you down.

At this point - whether you are audio, visual, or written comes into play (or any combination)

You might take down a book, and start to read the story of a past life - Look at pictures like a photo album - Watch a movie - listen to someone narrate the story - or like I said, any combination.

When you are done, thank your guide very much.

Open the main door to go back down the stairs, and count your way back down. - this will lead you back out of the trance.

Play back the tape, or read what your partner has written - you may or may not remember what it is you have just experienced and/or said out loud.

Crystal Cave Meditation

Sit/lie comfortably. Music or tapes of nature sounds are immensely helpful in this one. Close your eyes. Slow your breathing.

Imagine yourself walking down a woodland path. There are deer, squirrels, rabbits and other wildlife scampering in the underbrush. You can hear birds singing. As you walk, the path becomes progressively steeper. You climb, but the uphill walk does not tire you. As you come to the crest of the hill, you see the opening to a cave in the side of a mountain, only a few feet away.

Your totem animal, or an animal you identify with, should be waiting there.

Walk into the cave. At first the walls will be black or grey. Then you see a sparkle, and the walls are covered with garnets, gving off a scarlet glow. Walk through the hall of garnets, absorbing their light. Slowly, the garnets will give way to carnelian, glowing softly orange. Walk through the carnelians, absorbing their light. Slowly, the carnelian gives way to topaz, shining with a sunshiny yellow. Walk through the topaz, absorbing its light. The topaz will give way to emerald. Walk through the emerald, absorbing its light. The emeralds will give way to turquoise. Walk through the turquoise, absorbing its light. The turquoise gives way to walls of sapphires. Walk through the sapphires, absorbing their light. The sapphires will finally give way to amythyst. Walk through the amythyst, absorbing its light.

Spirit Meditation

Relax, close your eyes, and let your breathing slow down. Breathe deeply and slowly, deeply and slowly, let your breathing slow down and let your mind become calm and relaxed. Let all the worries and cares just drain away and leave you calm and collected, calm and peaceful, and as they drain away, let yourself become more and more relaxed, and more and more calm. And as you become more relaxed let your breathing slow and deepen, slow and deepen, slow and deepen, and as your breathing deepens, let your mind relax.
Feel the ground beneath you, and feel as if you are slowly sinking down until you are cradled in a small shallow hollow in the ground. Let yourself relax and know that nothing will disturb you. Relax and breathe deeper. Breathe slower and deeper and relax more and more. Feel the ground beneath you and around you. Protecting you, holding you. Let anything that disturbs you drain away into the soil, and let new energy flow into you from the ground just as if you were a plant. Let the energy flow in as you breathe in, and let the tension, and irritations of the day seep away as you breathe out.
In and out, feel your breath, and pay attention to it. Feel it slow down more and more and you continue breathing. Hear the breath of your neighbor and let your breathing and their breathing slow until you breath in when they breathe in, and breathe out when you breathe out. Let yourself float, and just breathe, hearing nothing but my voice and my breathing. And as you breathe continue to feel the tension and irritations and any pain or negative feelings you have drain away, seeping deep down into the earth to be renewed and cleansed, and as you breath in, feel yourself refreshed, and breath in the clean energy that the earth provides. In and out, slowing your breathing down more and more, the more and more relaxed you become, and as you become more and more relaxed, the slower you will breath.

Now, continue breathing, and slowly tune out all sounds, but the sounds of my voice. Don't actively try to make them go away, just hear them and let them fade away of their own accord. And as each sound is recognized and fades away let the act of it fading take you a step further into relaxation.

And as you relax, just let yourself float, feel the ground below you grow as soft as a comfortable quilt, a thick comfortable quilt insulating you from the hard ground below you and making it feel as if you are floating. Float on the quilt, and let yourself relax into it. Relax deeper and deeper, and the more you relax, the thicker the quilt will become, making it just that much easier to sink deep into the relaxation.

Now as you relax, feel yourself begin to slowly, very slowly, move downward, and as you move downward, ever so slowly, what you percieve begins to change. You feel yourself moving downward through the quilt and leaving it behind you, and as you move downward, even though your eyes are closed, you can still see. And as you watch, you see a variety of scenes play themselves out before you, around you bringing you into them, and relaxing you.

And you are standing in a wide open field. The grass around you is a mixture of brown and green, and all around you you hear the chirping of insects, and see a bee buzzing over newly opened flowers. The flowers in the field are just opening their buds to the beautiful spring sunshine, and you bask in the beauty, and sink down through the green carpet of grass beneath you, relaxing as you sink lower and lower, being more and more relaxed.

And you see a summer day, a golden beach touching a deep blue sea. You hear the waves, and see people relaxing on the beach. The sky above you is cloudless, and the sun shines down, warming you. In the distance, you hear seagulls, and see them swooping down over the sea. And you sink deeper, and sink down through the sand, and relax even deeper, the sand warming you and relaxing you as you move through it.

And you are looking out over a lawn in the middle of autumn, the leaves are beautiful in their red and gold and orange splendor. The wind plays lightly through the trees and over your hair. You smell the smoke of a small fire where the children are laughing as they burn the dead leaves. You are lying in a small pile of newly fallen leaves, and the warmth of the fire relaxes you and you sink even deeper and become more and more relaxed, and sink into the leaves, leaving the warmth of the fire behind.

And you are sitting by a fireplace, nice and warm, looking out over a lawn covered in a deep carpet of glistening white snow. No footprints mar the beauty where you are looking, but off to one side, you see children building a snowman, and playing happily in the snow. You smell the smells of winter from the evergreen and holly that decorate the room around you, and you relax deeper and deeper in the warmth of the fire, and slowly, very slowly you sink deeper and deeper through the floor.

More and more relaxed, deeper and deeper, you feel yourself going down deep inside yourself, folding within, finding the center and heart deep within yourself, and you slowly come to rest in that sacred area inside yourself. The place where you are safe and warm, and can always go to find out whatever you need to know.

Take a moment and look around, seeing all the things that are here, and realizing that this is a place that is quintesentially yourself. It is your sacred place, and will always be within you for you to find when you need.

Now, find a path out of this place, and follow it to it's end. Along this path you might find side paths, and you can take them if you want. You might meet people or creatures, and they might talk with you. Converse with them as long as you want, or have them walk beside you as you continue down the path.

(long pause)

After a while, as you walk, you see a small clearing open up in front of you. And in the clearing will be two people who each have something to say to you. Listen to what they have to say, and ask them anything else that you feel is of importance to yourself and your life. Take as long as you want to speak with these two, and know that their advice will be helpful to you. They may be other aspects of yourself, they might be spiritual guides, they might be aspects of the God or the Goddess. Whomever they are, know that they cannot harm you here in your sacred area, and that only good can come of listening with your heart. Know that you will remember what they tell you and that you will be free to act on it as you choose.

(very long pause)

Now it is time to return, to bid farewell to your friends here, and to return to your friends in the other world. Know that you can return here any time you want just by willing yourself to. Finish up your talk with the two beings you met, and slowly feel yourself rising up, up into the sky.

Let yourself rise slowly, and see the area below you dwindiling and fading until you find yourself once more in front of the fire looking out over the beauty of winter. Take a moment and capture a bit of that beauty within yourself, and remember it as you slowly, slowly continue rising, and the scene fades.

Very slowly, the scene fades and is replaced with the autumn trees. Once again, capture a small peice of the scene within your heart, and let yourself rise slowly, very very slowly up, through the trees.

And as you rise, the autumn fades away and is replaced with the georgeous summer beach, with the golden sand and the crystal blue ocean and the deep cloudless sky. Put a piece of this into your heart as well, and let yourself rise up slowly, very slowly.

Back into the spring field, with the bees buzzing over the newly budding flowers. Capture a small part of this in your memory, and let yourself rise slowly, very very slowly, back onto the quilt.

Hear yourself breathing, and feel the connection you have to the earth and to the seasons. And know that what affects them affects you, and that what affects you affects them.

And let your breathing slowly come back to normal, and the awareness of other sounds begin to be fealt again, and let yourself slowly open your eyes and become fully, completely awake, but still completely relaxed, and know that you have been cleansed and renewed even as winter cleanses and renews the earth for the coming spring.

Breathe Meditation

Get into a comfortable position, close your eyes. Let the body become still. Allow all your muscles to relax, especially the shoulders and abs. Begin by breathing through the nose as fully as possible. Hold the breath for a three count, then relase through the mouth with a sigh. Do this three times.
From this point on breathe through the nose for both inhalation and exhalation. On exhalation the chest empties, followed by the abdomen.
Breathe as fully as possible, always retaining the breath at teh end of the inhalation for at least a count of three. As you continue to breathe in this manner, follow the breath. Feel your abdomen and chest fill and empty. Feel the rise and fall of your shoulders. Feel the coolness as teh breath enters your nostrils and the warmeth as it exits. Become aware of every possible aspect of the breath. Follow it through your body. Keep the focus.

Rock Meditation

To get in touch with the energies within the rocks, take a rock that appeals to you and small enough to hold in your hand. Place it in our power hand and sit quietly. Close your eyes and direct your consciousness to your hand. Feel the rock. Explore it with your mind, noticing the textures and temperature, hardness and any pieces of dirt clinging to it. When you have done this, hold the rock passively and let it 'speak' to you. It will do this thorugh vibrations, the essence of all magic. The vibrations will come frome within the rock itself. Fast, vigorous vibrations -hihg- vibrationn rock. Slow, sedate vibrations or pulse is a low-vibration. his technique should be done with every rock you intend to use in magic.

Fire Meditation

Relax and get comfortable
Close your eyes and take three deep breaths

You have traveled far, through land and air, to search for the realm of fire. Now you find yourself standing on a dusty road and you see, up ahead, a copse of trees, tall and dark. It is near midnight and there is little light from the waning moon overhead.

The path leads to the grove. The night is warm and the gentle breeze carries the lingering heat of the day.

The trees are mingled oak and cedar and alder. Here and there a rowan hangs heavy with berries and holly peeks out of the corners. As you enter the forest, a strange tingle runs up and down your arms and you feel suddenly drowsy, all of your senses are alert, yet it feels as if something's taken hold of your conscious mind and it is lulling you into a hazy, drifting fog. But you feel no sense of fear, no sense of danger, only a sense of a great power watching you.

~~Long Pause~~

You pass through the wood, quietly now, drifting along the path. Every sound seems heightened, every movement catches your attention. It is as if you are supersensitive and you realize you could pass through this wood blindfolded now, if you had to.

As you continue, you see a deer flit into the undergrowth, and an owl swoops down and passes you overhead. And then, you feel someone following you and you stop and turn around. Behind you, you see a ball of light, glowing with green energy the color of peridot, floating gently in mid-air.

~~Long Pause~~

"I am to be your guide in this part of the realm of fire." The voice echoes inside your head and you know it's from the globe of light. "I am a will-o- the-wisp, and I belong to the realm of faerie fire, through which you must first pass. Follow me then, to the grotto ahead, and do not tarry, for the realm of faerie is quick to catch the unwary and the foolish in its snares and weavings."

You follow the will-o-the-wisp as it leads the way through the forest.

~~Long Pause~~

Now you begin to notice a shimmering on the trees, their auras glowing and sparkling bright. "This has always been, you can only now perceive it, " says the globe. "Your first stop is over to your left."

Just up ahead, to your left, you see a darkened patch in the foliage. As you near it, a shiver runs through your body and your mind quakes, for there is a stirring of power around you and you know something very ancient, very primal, is there. You creep forward and turn to gaze in the dark space between the trees.

~~Long pause~~

The blackness is so dark you know it must be supernatural, for it's the dark of the void and the abyss that you are gazing into, and it holds you hypnotically. Then, just as you think you can't stand gazing into the emptiness any longer, you begin to see a swirl of sparkling color, a spiral, and the spiral forms itself into two glowing red eyes that pierce the abyss far better than any lantern or torch.

The gaze of the red eyes strip away your outer facades and masks, delving into the inner self you keep hidden away. It is not malevolent, but strong and male and watchful.

~~Long Pause~~

"The red eyes in the forest at midnight," whispers the globe of light. "The Hunter, the Heart of the Forest, and He exists in the realm of faerie fire. Watch your step and mind your actions when crossing the woods at night, for He will be there watching you. "

Quietly, you may ask the Hunter what He has to teach you about fire, and listen well for his reply.

~~Long Pause~~

"Now, follow me, " says the will-o-the-wisp, and you pass through the forest, listening to the calls of the birds. You come to a place where the path diverges to the right. The will-o-the-wisp floats down that fork and you follow. The ground slopes steeply, and you see that it leads to a beach down below. When you hasve walked and slid your way down to the sand, you see a small bay that kisses the shore. The water is shimmering with lights, green and blue and pink and yellow.

You are overcome with a rush of joy and you dash forward, drawn in by the glittering lights. With every step sparks fly from the sand and you stop to press your hands on the ground. When you lift them, they are covered with sparkles. Suddenly light hearted, laughing and unable to speak, for the joy in your heart is overwhelming any words you might have to say, you dance on the sand and watch the sparks fly. If you like, you can wade into the water, and it seems like your wading among the stars.

~~long pause~~

Finally the will-o-the-wisp speaks and it says, "You see, faerie fire is an uneplainable feeling. There are few words for this happiness, this intoxication, but it exists and is real. Now come, back to the path, for I have one more stop to show you and then you will go forward without me."

As you return to the path, you find your clothes are dry but the phosphorescent sparkles of faerie fire still exist within your heart and memory. The will-o-the-wisp guides you along the path until, up ahead, you see a purple fire dancing across the road. You must pass through it to continue your journey.

"Go now," the globe says, "and when you pass through the fire of the phoenix, you will find a fine layer of ash covering your body. The wind will blow it away, and with it will go pain and anger and old bonds that chain you. The purple rays of the phoenix are hotter than flame, hotter than fire, and they will burn through to the core and leave you purified and new, ready for the next stage of your journey. After you have passed through it, you will find yourself at the end of the forest, and a green fire covers that part of the road. It is the purest essence of faerie fire and you will pass through it
and out to the next leg of the journey. Good luck and good-bye." And the will-o-the-wisp fades into the forest.

You approach the flickering purple flame and the heat is so strong that you can only feel it as waves, not as actual warmth. Take a moment, think of what you would have burned away from you, what you are tired of carrying around, and then pass through the flame, bathe in it, and come out the other side.

~~Long Pause~~

When you emerge from the phoenix flame, you fine that, indeed, a fine layer of ash covers your body. The breeze sweeps up and blows it away. Underneath, your skin is new and clear, and your heart is lighter.

The forest comes to an end up ahead, and there you see the green flame waiting. You take one last look behind you and then pass into the flame of the faerie fire, the green fire in the forest at midnight, the green fire of Midsummers's Eve.

It crackles around you, sparkling and magnetic. It resonates within you and you feel your aura shift and change. You body moves with more grace in the fire, and you feel it slide up your arms and legs, seep into your belly...sensuous, it leaves you breathless and waiting.

~~Long Pause~~

And then...you find you can shape your aura, you can change and alter it to your liking. Do you want to appear taller? Thinner? More voluptuous? Do you want to radiate confidence and strength? All you have to do is use the faerie fire to shape your will. When you have thought and done your working, step through to the other side and look at yourself again to see what changes you have made in your energy.

~~Long pause~~

Now you have stepped out of the forest. Look around you. You find you are in an open plain. The grass is thick here, but grows sparser up ahead and you see the light of dawn rising to the East. There are no trees after then line of the forest, and the path leads a gentle graded slope upwards. Follow the path and continue your journey as the morning light grows and the stars fade from the sky.

It looks like the morning is going to be hot. There are no clouds in the sky and the forest has become a distant memory. You walk along the path, and up ahead you see a well. There is a sign on it that says, "Last water for many miles." There are many canteens here, and you might want to fill one, for the journey is sure to be hot and thirsty.

~~Long Pause~~

The grass is sparse now, the dirt faded and compacted. You start to see cracks in the ground as you go along; no rain has fallen here for a long time. The sun has now risen above the horizon and you are already starting to sweat.

You wipe your forehead and look around. To all directions, it seems there is only the desert, with occasional outcroppings of stone. As you continue your journey, your feet become hot and weary. You sit on a rock to rest. While you are sitting there, you hear a rustle and look down to the side of the rock.

A large lizard is sitting there, patiently watching you.

~~Long Pause~~

It is red, with stripes of orange, and golden eyes stare up at you. Its long tongue forks out and it says in a wheezing, whistling voice, "I'm your guide for this part of the journey. I am the Salamander Flametongue. I will guide you to your destination in this part of the realm of fire. You will need a walking stick. Look under that rock over there." It waves its tongue towards a low, long rock near you and you find a walking stick that's just the right height for you underneath it.

~~Long Pause~~

"Well, then, " flametongue says, "it's time we were off. Come now, follow me." The salamander leads you along the path, which is now a steeper grade. You pass through the barren land, and when you reach the top, you see a mountain ahead. It is dark, with streaks of rust-colored rocks trailing down its side, flowing over blackened lava that covered the land long ago.

The black lava lies in waves, pillows of rock, thick and glistening with volcanic glass. Strange configurations, some look almost human, stand frozen over the land, and the flow goes on for miles and miles, so vast and immense you can only imagine what it must have looked like when it first covered the land.

~~Long pause~~

As you start forward you find the path no longer exists. You must cross the hardened lava, and so, using your walking stick to steady yourself you forge ahead, slowly working your way around the twisted rock. You must be careful here, for the lava is sharp and full of rough edges. IF you fall, you could hurt yourself.

Flametongue leads you along the surface of the jagged rock. Your feet slide along the smooth obsidian rock. It is difficult to keep your balance here. At one point, your stick breaks through the lava and you see the end of it smoke as it touches still cooling rock. You pull it out quickly, and beat out the flicker of flames that starts on its tip.

~~Long Pause~~

The salamander leads you a wide berth around that area and you find yourself having to really concentrate to keep your footing as you realize how dangerous this realm can be.

Now the grade is rough, and you are breathing heavily. The taste of sulfur fills your mouth and you must stop and pour a little water on your handkerchief and tie it around your face so the bitter, acidic fumes don't overwhelm you.

You are climbing higher and higher up the side of the mountain, and you see stream rising from cracks in the lava around you. Flametounge turns and says, "This is a place of massive destruction. But out of that destruction, new land is born, nutrients will weather down and feed the soil and plants will grow again."

You curve around the side of the mountain and when you look over the edge of the roughly worn path, you see a long drop, two hundred feet down, into a lake of lava. It boils and turns, twisting red tongues of flame dance on its surface. At once terrifying and mesmerizing, it churns constantly as you watch.

~~Long Pause~~

"Come," says the salamander, "we shouldn't linger here. The Queen of Fire awaits you and she's not one to be made angry."

The path twists away from the lake of magma and back around the blackened mountain. You pass into what once was a forest. The trees are now black; hardened charcoal and ash cover the land. The salamander leads you off the dark lava and you are sifting through the ash, into the desolate forest, where you hear ghostly voices traveling on the hot wind.

"The flame consumes, " says flametongue. "It can burn brightly and drive you onward, or it can consume and destroy, leaving only the ash behind."

Now you find your throat parched and dry, and you stop to take another drink from your canteen. Your skin is cracking from the heat and you desperately wish for a cool bath, somewhere far away.

~~Long pause~~

"We are almost there" says the salamander. "You are nearing the home of the Queen of Fire."

Ahead you see it. A great fountain made from blocks of frozen lava, sitting in a clearing full of ash. It's a fountain of flame, and in the center of the flame, you see a woman bathing. She is crimson and vermillion, and her eyes are the brightness of the so that you cannot look directly at them. She motions you near.

~~Long Pause~~

As you approach, the heat intensifies until it feels like your skin is just about to burn. She holds up her hand for you and in a voice low and crackling, throaty with passion, she says, "Come no farther or you will hurt yourself. I am the Queen of Fire. Welcome to my realm."

She is sensuous, her body ever shifting shapes in the flames, and you feel the passion that throbs just below the surface of the energy here. She speaks again. "Hold out your hand, so that you may feel my power. " You hold out your hand.

At first you feel a warm glow, the warmth of spring mornings, the warmth of a breezy day when you're in the garden. Then, the warmth increases, and it's the heat of the woodstove, warming you on crisp autumn evenings...and then the heat changes again, and its the crackle of bonfires and the smell of burning wood...then once again, and the heat is the sweltering heat of noon on a summer's day, and sweat pours down your face.

~~Long pause~~

She speaks again. "I am the drive of passion, and I am the creative force that refuses to be squelched. Try to repress me and I will rise up and burn you to ashes. Embrace me, use me with foresight and I am an ally you cannot afford to lose. I heal with my golden rays and I destroy to make way for new creation with the rivers of molten rock that pour from within the earth. Now, what would you have me do for you? What do you wish to create? Tell me, and then listen and I will give you advice."

Think now for a moment, then answer and listen for her to reply.

~~Long Pause~~

When she has spoken, the Queen of Fire bids you leave. "This is not a place where mortals may stay for long. The heat will burn you ragged. Go now, there is a path beyond this fountain. Follow it and it will lead you home."

You follow the path and it leads you down a slope. The sun is now a bit lower in the sky and the salamander waves good-bye. The walking becomes a little easier, the ash thins out as you go and you see less and less of the stunted trees.

As you proceed down the hill, you begin to see wips of grass, growing through the soil now free from ash. You follow the open path by a low cliff, and looking over, you see the path leads to the shore below.

~~Long pause~~

You twist and turn, going down, and find the walking easy and pleasant after you sojourn in the realm of fire. When you reach the shoreline, there is a horse waiting and saddled.

You climb on its back, exhausted, and as it moves out, following its sense of internal direction, you find you can rest. The spray from the water cools your dry skin and there is a fresh canteen hanging from the saddle.

You ride for what seems like hours, and the horse takes a fork that leads away from the water and you find yourself traveling through late evening on a path that is gradually going uphill. At the top of the slope, just before twilight, the horse stops and you climb off. You see, ten steps in front of you, the place where you started your journey. The horse has brought you back.

~~Long Pause~~

Now, take those ten steps and each one will bring you closer towards waking consciousness...... Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two one.

Power Animal Meditation

Imagine that you are walking up a soft, leaf-covered woodland path between tall trees. It is autumn and the leaves are all the colors of the fall around you, orange, and red and gold. You can smell wood smoke in the cool, crisp air, but the sun feels warm on your face. As you continue walking up the path, you see that it is beginning to lead uphill, getting steeper now, and the trees are being left behind. You are climbing up a steep hillside now, and the path is getting bare and rocky. You see that the path is curving around a bend now, and you can't see what's on the other side. But suddenly
you know that there is an animal-good and loving animal -- waiting around the corner to meet you and show itself to you. It could be an animal with fur, or feathers, or scales, or hide. You walk around the corner now, and there you see it-there is your special animal. (Pause for about a minute.) You greet you animal and thank it for showing itself to you. You tell it that you will do everything you can to bring it into your life so that it will always be with you. Then you turn and begin to walk back down the path, waving to you animal until you walk around the corner and cannot see it any more.

Walk down the path toward the bright autumn trees now, walking back down the leafy path, back to this room, back to your ordinary way of being, Stretch, wiggle your toes, take a deep breath, and open your eyes.

Air Meditation

Relax and get comfortable.
Take three deep breaths.

You are standing on an open cliff, overlooking a prairie below. It is shortly before dawn and you have come here to do your magickal work.

The sky is muted, pale blue overhead fading into a gentle rose-pink near the eastern horizon where the sun will rise. Relax as you stand on the cliff, watching the sky. Whisps of clouds drift by, strings of gray stretching across the horizon. They are distant and lazy, and you know they will burn off by morning.

~~Long pause~~

The air currents are still as you breathe deep in the chill, yet soon-to-warm, morning and your breath steams out, hovering in front of you. For just a moment before its gone. Now, step to the edge of the cliff and stretch your hands out to the sky. In a voice that echoes across the valley call out:

"Eurus, Wind of the East! Dazzling and Bright! Aid me in my magickal journey!"

As the last echo fades away, you see a huge bird winging towards you. It is a giant red-tailed hawk and it soars in to land on the cliff next to you.

"Climb aboard my back. I will take you to Eurus, " she says and you straddle her behind her wings and hold on to the lavender straps that will give you balance. She crouches, then takes to the air. Your weight seems to present no problems and you find yourself flying far overhead the cliff and the valley below.

~~Long Pause~~

The hawk climbs higher and higher, and you soon lose track of the ground altogether. After a while the hawk heads for a could formation, soft strings drifting across the sky, which is the color of a robin's egg. Finally she lands on the edge of one. "Here is where you get off," she says. "Don't
worry, the clouds will hold your weight."

You climb off the hawk's back and find the clouds soft but substantial beneath your feet. The hawk flies away and, in another moment she is a small speck in the sky.

You hear laughter in the distance, growing closer. A being of air sweeps up. The cool, crisp breezes of morning accompany him and he laughs again, and each breath washes you clean of cobwebs and stagnation.

~~Long Pause~~

"I am Eurus, Master of the Eastern Wind, "he says. "Touch me and know my powers." You reach out and touch his hand.

As your fingers enter the wind-stream around Eurus, you find your mind growing alert, aware. You feel clear-headed and your thoughts come rapidly and coherently. Everything seems brighter, smells cleaner and now you see the breeze rush through your aura, cleaning away the stagnant energy that has accumulated there. A rush of exhilaration snaps you to attention.

~~Long Pause~~

"You see," he says, "My winds have the power to purify you, to free you from old habits. I am the wind of new beginnings. I am quicksilver, the wind of thought and communication. In my presence you will never be at a loss for words." And then, Eurus gives you a feather. It is from the hawk. "Whenever you have need of my powers, use this feather to call them forth. Or call on the hawk to bring the east winds. "And now, "he says, "the next step of your journey awaits." With a rush, Eurus departs.

~~Long Pause~~

You tuck the feather away and turn to the edge of the cloud. You raise your hands to your mouth and call out into the clear blue sky. "Notus, Wind of the South! Firey and radiant! Aid me in my magickal journey!" As you wait you see a winged creature approaching. It is not the hawk, but a gigantic bird covered in flames, golden and orange and brilliant red. A phoenix... and it lands beside you.

"Climb on my back, and I will take you to Notus," She says. You approach her, expecting to feel an intense heat radiating from her body, but instead a gentle warmth seeps through.. You are protected from her fire by the Gods who sent her. Climb aboard her back and take hold of the golden straps to hold you tight.

~~Long Pause~~

She takes flight and you soar through the air, rising toward another cloud. This cloud is huge, white...puffed cotton gone wild. The phoenix lands carefully on the edge and allows you to dismount, then flies off again, a brilliant fireball in the sky.

You stand but a moment when you hear a laughter like thunder, a huge bellowing chuckle. The being that approaches comes in a hot cackling wind and you feel the hairs on your arm rise, caught in static electricity.

~~Long Pause~~

"Welcome to the home of Notus, " he says, and his voice echoes across the plain. "Feel my power and understand my radiance!"

You reach out to touch the energy of the Master of the South Wind. As your fingers meet his, the wind sweeps down around you and crackles, electricity at its strongest. You feel your mind lead with passion, the passion to act and to create. Stories, poems...pictures, they all grounded here. You feel the words swirling around you, they are just waiting for you to call them in. Your body shivers, this wind is sensuous and plays gently, caressing and teasing you, like hundreds of fingers tracing out patterns on your skin.

~~Long Pause~~

"You see, " says Notus, "I am the wind of creativity, the wind that brings you the scent of new-mown hay where you lie down in passion with your love. I am the wind that precedes lightning." And then, he gives you a feather from the phoenix. "Whenever you have need of my powers, use this feather to call me forth, or call on the phoenix to bring the southern winds. Now, the next step of your journey awaits!" And with a rush, Notus departs.

~~Long Pause~~

You go to the edge of the cloud and call out, "Zephyrus, Wind of the West! Gentle and Buoyant! Aid me in my magickal journey!" Watching, you see a winged creature approach. It is a giant blue heron, and it lands beside you.

"I will take you to Zephyrus, " She says softly, and you climb aboard and grab hold of the blue straps and find yourself once more aloft.

~~Long Pause~~

The heron brings you to a cloud that is darker than the others. It rolls across the sky at twilight, hinting of rain, black and full of moisture. As it lands, you climb off and the heron flies away, leaving you alone.

You do not have to wait long. Soon another wind spirit rumbles up to meet you. His face is somwhat mournful. He does not laugh, but remains melancholy, yet you fee that he is at peace with the world and himself.

~~Long Pause~~

"I am Zephyrus," he says, "Master of the West Winds. I bid you feel of my powers and stay as long as you need."

You reach out and are swept into the storm. The rain pounds around you, this wind is full of moisture and blows cool against your skin. It whispers of peace in thought and action, of turning inward to look at yourself. It blows through your life and cleanses you of old wounds. It brings the rains of autumn to clear the air and make way for the frost.

~~Long Pause~~

"Behold," he says, "I am Zephyrus, and I bring you to the joys and sadness of the heart. I blow into your life when the mists are needed to cushion you, and I bring the fog to protect you from sight. I am the wind of autumn, and of the beautiful sunset when the air is cool, when birds wing gently home. I bring fertility and respite."

He hands you a feather from the heron. "Use this when you have need of my powers, or call on the heron to bring you the west winds. Now, the next step of your journey awaits you." He drifts off , leaving you alone.

~~Long Pause~~

Once again you stand on the edge of the cloud and raise your hands to your mouth again. "Boreas, Wind of the North! Rushing and Mightly! Aid me in my magickal journey!"

And then, as your call goes ringing out, you see a bird gliding towards you. It is a giant eagle, and she lands and waits for you to climb on her back. The straps you take hold of are black. She rises silently and you know she is taking you to the realm of Boreas, Master of the North Wind.

This sky is grey, sparkling with frost, and you land silently, muffled, and the eagle rises and leaves you with no words. A bitter chill sweeps down and you hear the wind whirl up around you, swirling with snowflakes, and Boreas, Master of the North Winds, stands gravely before you.

~~Long Pause~~

"I am Boreas, and I bring with me sleep, the winds that clear the trees of their leaves, the wind that cries out, destroying old patterns and habits that lie in my path. I clear depression and anxiety and envy from your heart, leaving a void to be filled by the east wind. Know that without me, there would be no beginning, for there must be an end to all things before new life can take hold. I guard the road of the dead, and ghosts live in my cry, and old memories.... leave them to me, free yourself of your chains, I will sweep them up.

~~Long Pause~~

"And now," he says, handing you an eagle feather, "you must attend the last stage of your journey."

"Use this feather to call me, or bid the eagle to bring you the north wind. But be aware, I will most surely come." Sparkling with frost, Boreas glides off in the muffled night

~~Long Pause~~

You stand on the edge of the cloud and realize you have made the circuit. All but the center. As you watch, a winged horse comes flying up and you climb aboard Pegasus' back. It carries you aloft, far higher than you have ever been. You are dizzy with the flight, spinning and whirling in the air.

~~Long Pause~~

You find yourself on the edge of a rainbow, and Pegasus bids you dismount. As you do so, you hear a sweet singing, chimes in the wind and you turn to see a woman dressed in hues of pale blue and lavendar, with golden threads woven through the sliken veils. She wears a necklace of diamonds and her hair is pulled back in a tight chignon covered with a net of spiders web to keep it neat.

~~Long Pause~~

"Welcome," She says, and her voice is the echo of spring, the call of early morning. "Welcome to the realm of the Queen of Air."

She invites you to sit on the rainbow bridge and sits beside you, bouquet of white daisies in her hand. "You have journeyed far to learn of my element and so I will tell you of the nature of air, element of the East. Know this: that without air there is no life. Without my breath you cease to exist. Without me, this world would be but a lifeless orb floating in space. I am essential, as are all elements for survival."

"I am mist and fog, vapors trailing the wind. I am the wind, and the breeze, the still currents of air on a got summer's night. Without me, fire would not exist, and earth would bear no life, and the water could support no fish."

~~Long Pause~~

And then, the Queen of Air looks at you and says, "What would you ask of me? What do you need from me?"

Think carefully, then ask of her and listen to her reply.

~~Long Pause~~

When she has spoken, she reaches out and helps you to your feet and you feel the cool promise of morning, beckoning you to rise from the bed, for a new day awaits. " Slide down the rainbow," she says. "It will take you home.

And then she is gone.

You look at the rainbow. It is steep but very wide, and when you sit down on it, you find there is no way to fall off. You push off with your hands and find yourself speeding down the arc, watching the sky curve as you descend.

~~Long Pause~~

You breathe deeply, calming yourself, for you are traveling faster than you thought. And you count down from 10 to 1, each beat bringing you closer to the earth below.

Water Meditation

Relax and Get comfortable
Close your eyes and take 3 deep breaths.
You begin your journey on an overcast day. You are near the forest, deep, dark coniferous woods, and you have heard of a beautiful grotto somewhere in its midst. There is a wide stream that runs into the wood, and you stand on its bank, looking down into the ravine shaded by fern and long, dripping moss that beards the trees.

You turn to the wood and begin your journey, traveling by the stream bank as you go along. There is no well-worn path here; you have to climb over fallen logs covered with moss and skirt large chunks of granite deposited here during the last march of the glaciers.

As you enter the wood, the heavy growth darkens the glow of the sun as it lowers toward the horizon. The sound of the birds echoes around you, and you smell a tinge of autumn chill in the air, hints of cold nights to come. The stream gushes along beside you. At first the ravine is steep and you cannot feel the spray of the water as it rushes past. Gradually the slope of the wood lowers to where you are only a few feet above the stream bed, and you can see clearly below the surface of the water if you bend down.

~~Long Pause~~

There are water skimmers darting across the surface of the bubbling water, and a few mosquitoes. Small fish dart just below the surface -- quicksilver, almost as if they aren't even there.

You find the walking easy at first, and the continual susurration of the water lulls you as you travel. It is cool near the stream, in fact it's almost chilly, and sometimes as you walk along you can hear a late season frog croaking. The forest thickens, but you have become focused on the stream below. Occasionally, you hear laughter rising with the water, but you can't see where it is coming from.

The current is picking up, and you feel a sense of urgency now, inspired by the force of the water. You begin walking faster, trying to keep up with the ever-running stream. And then, up ahead, you see that a large cliff blocks the path, making it impossible to continue on the stream banks. You could go around it, but you'd lose sight of the stream and by now you know that you're on the right path to find that grotto. But you have one other option. You know that you could let the stream carry you along; it's deep and swift now. So you step forward and jump into the water.

~~Long Pause~~

The first shock of chill water stuns you, and you flounder for a moment, fighting the current that drags you past the cliff. You manage to catch your breath and straighten out, riding the current on your tummy. You don't even have to swim, just stretch out and let the water buoy you up.

Now the last shadows of daylight are glistening on the water around you. It sparkles, reflecting like brilliant sapphire, dazzling your eyes. You are soaked, but you find yourself adapting and it's easier to remain calm, easier to use your arms stretched out in front of you to steer yourself around the occasional rock jutting up from the water.

The pulse of the current begins to match your heartbeat. You feel a strong quiver run through the water. With each breath you take, the stream seems to rise. Every time you exhale, the stream lowers, and so you gently but swiftly flow along, almost as if you were a part of the water itself.

~~Long Pause~~

The cliffs that you pass through are steep and dark, towering blocks of granite. You realize that you have no choice now except to let the water be your guide. You are suddenly thirsty and so you open your lips and let a mouthful of water slide down your throat. It is icy, glacial, and refreshes you like no other drink ever has.

A roaring sound echoes from up ahead, and the water picks up speed. You raise your head to try to see what's coming, but it's difficult from this position. Suddenly you find yourself teetering, you are on the edge of a waterfall, with no handholds in sight and you have a glimpse of white water spray all around you and mist rising like fog from below, then you plunge over the edge.

~~Long Pause~~

You twist and turn until you've righted yourself, and you find you are actually sliding down the falls, buoyed by the force of the cascading water. You catch a glimpse of a glistening pool below, and the fern-covered slopes surrounding it, and then you hit the surface and sink.

You try to swim upwards, you kick and fight your way to the surface only to grab another breath and be pulled down again. You are spinning now. Each time you rise you gain a breath of air, but it's hard to break free from the whirlpool you're caught in.

The water circles around you, tearing at your clothes, pulling at any possessions you might have. When you think you've reached you last gasp, you manage one final kick and push yourself out of the center, where you can navigate away from the whirlpool. With the last bit of energy, you swim to shore and crawl up to the sand. You find you're naked, your clothes have been swept away, and all your possessions you have with you are gone. But you are so tired, you just sit and rest.

~~Long Pause~~

As you regain your strength, you begin to notice the cold. The water is drying on your skin now, but the night air is cool and you begin to shiver. If you don't find some sort of shelter, you will freeze. You wearily get up and look around for anything that might help.

The dusk is thick, but you can see dark caves against the ravine walls, and you imagine a few might be below the surface as well. Fern and Moss hang down here and willows surround the pool. You wonder if you've found the grotto, but somehow you don't think you're quite there yet.

You see a thick, long drape of moss and it occurs to you that it might provide some protection from the cold. You pull it down from the tree it's on and wrap it around you, tucking it in so it makes a kind of sarong. Surprisingly, you find it really helps. You look around some more and decide to use long fronds from the fern to weave into a kind of cloak. When you finish and drape it around your shoulders, you feel much more comfortable, enough to notice how hungry you are.

Movement on the beach catches your eye. You move closer to see what it is, and find an otter staring at you. She's come out of the pool and is waiting on the shore with something in her mouth. You move a little closer, not wanting to spook her, but she remains calm and when you are almost within range to reach out and touch her, she drops a fish at your feet.

"Your dinner" a voice in your head rings out, and then you hear a laughter similar to the one you heard in the stream. It's gentle and playful. She waits for you to pick up the fish.

~~Long Pause~~

When you do, you find it's dead, and she's sliced it open with her claws and washed it in the pool. There's no fire, but the water here is clean and clear, and you know the fish is safe to eat. You bite into the flesh. It's juicy and almost sweet, and your stomach gurgles with the promise of a meal. As you eat the fish, you can feel its life-force streaming into your body, and you feel shimmering and sleek, and energy races through your blood.

Thank the fish for its life, that is sustains you, and then turn back to the otter.

~~Long Pause~~

She smiles, her whiskers sticking out, and then she says, "When you've rested, you must climb through that cave if you want to reach the grotto." Then, quick as a wink, she slides back in the pool and disappears under the water. You feel energetic now, strong and ready to continue, and so you carefully climb over the rocks and up to the dark slit that awaits.

The cavern is narrow and high. You feel your way along, running your hand over one of the walls. Before long, it opens out into a mammoth room with stalagmites and stalactites glistening from a phosphorescent glow. There are no other entrances or exits, but in the center of the room, you see a large pool. The water in the pool is black and filled with twinkling light.

You hear singing rising from the pool, and it's indescribably sweet and alluring. The voices echo and rebound off the walls, and you feel your heart begin to pound and you're overcome by the desire to follow the voices.

They swirl around you, reverberating in your mind, and they sing. "Come to us, come to us, leave your home, leave your loves, leave your families and ride with us into the sea." The pull is so strong that, try as you might, you cannot escape and you plunge into the pool, searching for the singers of that melody.

~~Long Pause~~

As you sink into the water, something begins to happen. You feel strange, your body is shifting, altering. You find you're changing into a creature of the sea, perhaps a salmon, an otter, a trout, an octopus. Look at your body, and see what it looks like. Feel the fins, tentacles; feel the way the water moves around you now that you don't have to fight to breathe. Play with your transformation for a moment.

~~Long Pause~~

After you have gotten used to the idea that you're no longer human, you swim deep, following the current of the pool that leads you down. Then you see ahead of you a tunnel in the water, a cave going under the cliff and you follow it. You can still hear the voices singing and they're coming through the tunnel.

As you swim through the darkened tube it grows lighter. You swim up and up, heading toward the surface. As you break the water's edge, you shirt again and are back in your human form.

~~Long Pause~~

You are in a large lake, and the forest surrounding this lake is truly beautiful, shimmering and glowing. As you head toward shore, you're able to wade through the water as it grows shallow. You see crystals glistening in the sand, and the full moon hangs low overhead, casting its light across the grotto.

You stand on the shore, looking back at the lake to get an idea of where you are. You see that the forest entirely surrounds the lake with shimmering light. In the center of the lake is a large rock, and you know that's where the singing is from and that's where you must go.

~~Long Pause~~

You plunge back into the water, but find that you remain human and you begin to swim out to the rock, and you hope that your strength will hold you up.

As you leave the shore behind you, you can feel the gentle currents. They seem to be helping you along at first, guiding your way, holding you. The water lulls you into a happiness you've never felt before; it surrounds and warms you and you flash back to the time when you lay in your mother's womb where water cushioned you against the hardships of the outer world. Take a moment to feel that cushioned rocking, and see what it means to you.

~~Long Pause~~

You are quite a distance from the shore, and the water begins to grow choppy. It pulls you out of that peaceful calm and you have to be alert, watching as the water swells and creates, waves growing larger. It could be dangerous here, and your muscles ache a little because you cannot relax; you must be aware of your surroundings.

Now you are closing on the rock, but the passage is more than difficult. The waves have grown dangerous, they tug at you, and you must use all of your strength to fight the current if you want to make it to your goal. Rain begins to pelt down, stinging like hail as it drives itself into the surface of the water. The night is so cold now that your muscles are starting to cramp. You see the rock is almost within reach.

~~Long Pause~~

Finally, the water swells again with a big wave coming in, but as it swells you can reach out and it pushes you towards the rock just enough for you to grab hold. Dig your fingers in and pull yourself to the granite, and then, with your hands bleeding from small lacerations, drag yourself up, onto the rock.

You lie there for what seems like an indeterminable amount of time, but eventually you begin to catch your breath and when you sit up, you see you're not the only one on the rock. There is a ring of women, beautiful and ethereal. They almost seem like shapes formed of mist, and they are singing. But now that you're here, their songs have little effect on you.

In the center of their midst, there is a great throne made of mother of pearl and amethyst, and on the throne, a woman cloaked in long streams of dripping seaweed. Her hair is the color of twilight, and she wears a gown woven of fog and raindrops. She sits in front of a large bowl, so large you could almost crawl into it, and in the bowl you see water darker than any water you've ever seen before.

~~Long Pause~~

She motions for you to come forward. When you are standing at her feet, she says, "I am Aqualia, the Queen of Cups, the Queen of Water. You have come to seek my element." Her voice echoes with the roar of the waterfall.

She continues, "Know this, I am the force of your body, I am the home from whence life began. Your ancestors swam in my primordial seas. I cushion your tears and soothe you with my gentle raindrops. But I am also the force of the gale, the wild cresting waves. Do not underestimate me, or deny my strength."

~~Long Pause~~

As she speaks, you see a great serpent rising from the water, greater than any serpent ever before known or seen. Aqualia says, "I am Tiamat Primordial Mother of the Ocean. Know me and pay me respect."

~~Long Pause~~

Then she shifts again and she is cloaked in a beautiful girdle and she is the loveliest woman you've ever seen. "I am Aphrodite, the foam-born. Love me and desire me and ride on my waves of passion."

~~Long Pause~~

Once more she shifts and she is wild and fearsome and full of dark storm clouds. "I am Ran, Goddess of the angry seas, and I drown sailors who dare to challenge my strength. Do not think you can beat me, I am always more powerful than you."

~~Long Pause~~

Then she is back to herself again and she sits back down and smiles gently. "Know also, I am in each raindrop and each teardrop you shed, and when you drink of me, you bring my life force into your body."

~~Long Pause~~

She points to the bowl in front of her. "I give you a gift. If you drink from my dark wine while asking a question, then close your eyes. You will hear the answer within your own heart. For my waters unlock the gates to your subconscious, and from there most answers spring." She hands you a crystal goblet and says, "Think of your need to know, then drink and listen for the answer.

~~Long Pause~~

When you have finished you task, she gives you the goblet to keep and says, "Place water that has been charged under the dark moon in this goblet and you may touch the wells of knowledge by drinking deep." Then she says, "It is time for you to leave." She provides you with a boat and send you on your way.

Tree Meditation

Outline
1. Relaxation

Use any type of relaxation method you feel like. Often will get combined with control of breath.

2. Controlled Breath

Gets the person concentrating.

3. Awareness of Physical Body

May include breath, heart beat, etc.

4. Visualization of becoming a tree.

This can become quite involved. You may start by visualizing a walk in the forest, working with all senses, smell, hearing, taste, touch as well as sight. You can either visualize becoming a tree or entering a tree that already exists in the forest. Note that you should ask the trees permission first!

5. Send roots into the earth from feet.

Send the roots down into the earth, down farther and farther into the earth. (Trance induction--as you go further down in the ground, you may add that you are going into deeper meditation.) (We usually stand, if you sit, you may want to visualize the roots coming from the bottom of your spine instead of the feet.)

a. Feeling the dirt.

b. Sending roots to meet water.

c. Sensing the pulse of the Mother Earth.

6. Sending branches into the sky from crown of head.

Similar to 5.

a. Feeling the breeze through the branches.
b. Sending branches up to meet sunlight.
c. Sensing the pulse of the sun's energy.

7. Drawing the water and earth energy from root into trunk.

8. Drawing the sky energy from leaves into trunk.

7+8 can be done as a part of 5+6.
Note: We stress Water, Earth and Sky as they represent the Keltic triad. You can add Fire to correspond to the four Wiccan quarters if you wish.

9. Allowing energies to mix and grow (combination of three worlds).

10. Feeling self as conduit for energies.
a. Sending earth and water energies out through branches.
b. Sending sky energy through roots into ground.

11. Sensing the presence of other trees.
a. Feeling roots mingling beneath the earth.
b. Feeling branches mingling in the sky (holding hands)
c. Sending energy around circle through clasped hands.

12. Establishment of group mind/affirmation of the Grove.

13. Reversal of above 12 steps to return to human form.

Reversal is done after the meeting/ritual is finished. Just follow the steps backwards. It usually is quite a bit shorter than the original.
