Personality: Cain, in his shyness, appears at first to be a miniature adult - all grave looks and unfailing politeness. He doesn't often talk beyond introducing himself or responding to questions, and tends to disappear as soon as he's out of the spotlight as swiftly and completely as smoke.
But he is not a ferret for nothing, and doesn't plan to disappear so he can hide in a corner or something. Once he's free from being social, he turns out to be a pretty adventurous kid. He is anything but fearless, but is driven by a much more powerful force than fear: curiosity. He wants to know
everything, and loves sharing what he knows. The easiest way to warm him to you is to ask a question. He especially loves books. For someone his age, Cain is well read, and is a fount of useless trivia. For him, getting lost in a book is equally satisfying as exploring.
Since Darby treats him like anyone else, he gets irritated when people talk down to him. He's a person, not a pet! Cain may explode if he encounters the phenomenon known as "baby talk".
