Name: Rika Rendall
Gender: Whilst anatomy wise Rika is a male, due to her upbringing, she dresses and acts the part of a female, and is referred to in the feminine third person when being described. This is further explained in her history.
Hair: Rika's hair is dark black in color and reaches just below her mid-back. It is fairly thick in texture and completely void of curls. Usually it is left alone and is unstyled unless Rika is participating in some kind of play or dance.
Eyes: Slate grey just like her mothers though the shape is more American then Asian.
Height: 5 feet 6 inches.
Build: Ectomorphic, though not completely void of muscles in the leg area due to her dancing.
Age: 14
Heritage: Asian American. Rika is half American and half Japanese.
Martial Status: Single
Dominant Hand: Left
Handwriting: Small and fancy when writing in English. When writing in Kanji she is prone to incorrecly adding pressure to her strokes making them appear a bit off.

Distinguishing Features:

Androgynous: One of Rika’s main plot points is the fact that she is essentially a male parading around as a female. For this to work, the character must look genderless, or incredibly feminine.

Honor-Bound, Obsessive, Temperamental, Self-Conscious, Loyal

Personality:

Strong willed and short tempered, Rika seems to portray the exact opposite personality traits that one would be lead to believe based solely on her appearance, though the need to draw attention to herself is very much present. In fact, one could even go as far as to say that Rika is an attention whore, as her flamboyant clothing style and mannerisms seem to indicate, though the former is actually due to her obsession with following the latest fashion trends in her mother’s home town of Tokyo, Japan.

One of her key personality traits is her desire to please and bring honor to her family name, something she works towards almost to the point where she is completely and utterly obsessed, and it because of this that she often works her mind and body to their limits. She fears that her own personality brings dishonor to her family, and is often apologizing for the things she says or does in hopes of fixing her wrongs. One of her personal goals is actually to find a way to repress her opinion and temper, and replace it with something that would be more ‘honorable’ for her family.

Rika is also fiercely loyal and protective of both her friends and family, though her fear of causing problems for her family often outweighs her desire to protect her friends. This has caused quite a few problems in the past, as the fact that her family takes priority over her friends has often led to despites, and the eventual ending of her friendships. This has left her a bit hesitant to branch out, and even under the circumstances that she does make a friend; she makes it very clear in the beginning of the relationship that her family’s honor takes second fiddle to no-one.

History:

The only child of a well off American play writer and a traditional Japanese theatre owner, it’s fairly obvious what career Rika was destined for. Even at the young age of two, she showed great skills both in the creation and performance of the plays and dances that made her mother’s theatre so famous. In fact, by eight years old Rika was already staring in quite a few of the performances!

It was around this time that Rika learned of the strict codes that accompanied her Japanese dance and play career. For you see, Rika’s mothers family had a tradition where in order to play a female character on stage, the young actor must spend fourteen years of their life acting as a female off stage. Unable to deny her mother or father anything they may wish, Rika took on a female identity, and has since grown to accept this way of life. After all, tradition is tradition!

The next few years consisted of the young girl working towards the dream that had all but been set into her upon by her parents and family. Long, strenuous hours were spent mastering dance and song routines, day after day, and it is at that time that Rika first learned of her ability of Mind Over Body, and began abusing this power in order to enable her the chance to work without breaks. For a time, things seemed to work out well, but her body did need food and sleep sometime, and her parents began to notice that she was no longer showing up at the dinner table. Confronting their child, they demanded an explanation, and like any good child, Rika gave them one. Terrified that their daughter would eventually die from this repetitive abuse of her abilities, her parents set out on locating a ‘School’ that could teach their charge the proper use of her abilities.


Fears: Bringing dishonor to her family, having her secret found out, losing her ability to act, outsiders, the transition back to becoming a boy and her grandmothers.
Issues: Trouble keeping friendships, her temper, possible gender identity issues and a need to be the center of attention.
Aspirations: To become a famous theatre actress.
Short-term Goals: To get a better control of her emotions, to fully understand her abilities and to return home to her parents.
Long-term Goals: To bring the ultimate of honors to her family’s name and theatre.
Hobbies: Nearly anything involving the theatre or dance. She also secretly enjoys games like soccer and baseball.
Talents:
Strong Voice: Rika is a talented singer whose voice is capable of covering a good distance despite her small structure. This is due to constant training since she was a young child and will diminish if not continually worked on.
She's an Actor: Seeing as how she grew up in a family whose main source of income comes from the theatre, it's fairly obvious that Rika was destined to become an theatre actress. She is skilled in most manner of the art and has occasionally been known to fake emotions in order to bring about desired effects.
Dancer: More of her theatre training. Rika has been taking dance lessons since she was in pre-school and has become a limber and flexible individual. She has experience in choreographic dancing, ballet and traditional Japanese dancing.
Multi-linguist: Whilst her first language is English, Rika is also semi-fluent in Japanese, having grown up listening to it from her mother, grandmother and in some of the plays she has been in. She is capable of speaking the language just fine, though has serious issues reading and writing it.


Favorites:

• Books: The Classics (Jane Austen is an example), Playwrights , Traditional Horrors (Dracula, Frankenstein, The Picture of Dorian Grey etc.), anything that can be considered a page turner really.
  
• Music: She has no real dislike for anything save Rap and Hip-Hop, though she is particularly partial to Classical and Show tunes.
  
• Movies: As a whole Rika doesn’t really like movies as she prefers live theatre.
  
• TV Shows: Same as previous. She prefers live theatre over television and only watches T.V. on rare occasions.
  
• Games: Most intellectual strategy games such as chess, mahjong, shogi and go. She also secretly enjoys playing American soccer and baseball.

The Family~

Alfred Rendall - An American play writer. Alfred is Rika's father and a kind if a bit eccentric man. More on him will be coming soon.

Yukihiko Rendall - Rika's mother and the owner of a traditional japanese theatre. Yukihiko is a strict yet patient woman who has a firm love for her heritage.

Ba-chan - Rika's grandmother on her mothers side. She's... a bit crazy.

Grandma Rosy - What is it about this family and their crazy grandparents? She is currently retired and living with her son and his wife. She carries bricks in her purse and is know for her violent and crazy tendancies.
