A class may range from it's maximum point rating down to one number more than the class below it. I.E; A destroyer may range from 81 to 180 in damage points. However, keep in mind that the size of the vessel, even with an 81, is still larger than a corvette despite the low number.
Damage for ship weapons is calculated for every ten (10) seconds. For example, a destroyer hit by a turbolaser for 80 points of damage will take said damage over the course of 10 seconds. However, damage for weapons that have a cycle time longer than 10 seconds are done on an individual shot's basis.
Small Craft fall into their own category, being an extension of the vehicle category. They may be damaged by weapons of the vehicle class, and are essentially scaled up versions of it's parent class. A small craft may only damage something belonging to the Ship Scale if 1) It's weapon is in the Small Craft Heavy or Very Heavy category or 2) It is carrying a Ship Scale weapon, such as an anti-ship torpedo.
For infantry and vehicular weapons, damage is done on a shot to shot basis. Also keep in mind projectile grouping; more damage is done if the rounds land closely together than if they are farther apart. Here, an 'average' distance between hits is used, about 2-3 inches.
This is all a guideline to give players a 'feel' for how things work in the Hymn's Universe. Damage is figured on an 'on average' scenario, as in what usually happens when a target is hit.
The damage done to infantry by explosives such as grenades and rockets will be left up to the discretion of players and GMs, as these weapons are often erratic in their effects.

__________
Personal Notes:
-Infantry and Vehicle Weapons damage are on a shot per shot basis; Integrity Points (health) was calculated by taking the base damage of each optimal damage point of the equivalent class and multiplying by 4, just for the base/lowest value. Additional values were obtained by multiplying by 1.5
-Shields by multiplying max integrity by 2.5, Threshold is 85% of max integrity. Vehicle hull to shield ratio is 1, .9, .8, .7, .6 from highest to lowest.

Shields are the things that take damage before the hull, chassis or body armor take the lumps. Shields may also regenerate with time, though that is currently at GM discretion/under development.
Threshold is the amount of damage a shield can take without letting anything through. For an example, if a shield with a threshold of 15 takes 5 damage, the shields take 5 damage while the hull takes none. If the damage to be done is 20 with a threshold of 15 then the shields take 15 damage while the hull takes 5.
Also, if the damage to be done to the shield fully depletes the shields and surpasses the threshold, a catastrophic shield failure will happen. An event can range from the shield generator requiring a longer period of time than usual to re-establish the shield, to frying the shield generator or at worse, making it explode violently.
