Just making an observation, I've noticed that our RP forum's world seems almost... empty. Perhaps, the introduction of using NPCs [In this case, characters not being used or won't ever be run as player characters] might help 'fill out' the world.
Use of NPCs should be public domain for anyone to use, unless someone really wants to use any particular one as a personal character. For example, J. Jonah Jameson or Charles Xavier would be examples of characters that normally wouldn't be controlled by any of us.
However, I do see the need for potential interaction with these support characters. They do help move stories along. Now, if you think those characters shouldn't just used by everyone, I can see that arguement as well.
Now I say that instead of having all those support characters go to waste, I believe either they're used by everyone on a 'as needed' basis or they be controlled by the crew members of the guild [temporary loaned out as needed].
Please, I would love to hear everyone's option on this.

this is a good idea...though we'd have to set up some new rules for them...(mebbi saphire spider could run them or assign some or something? if we can't?)

I think we could do something like this. Rules would probably be a definate thing for them, otherwise things could get out of hand or confusing. I'll have everyday internet access by next week, I'll try to do something about this by then. (Hopefully) Nearly all of the characters that have been innactive have gone to the Chooser's Realm just to get them out of the way and keep things moving. Since the Chooser doesn't have that job anymore, all those characters will have to leave there eventually. That'll open a lot of random characters back up again.

While I'm waiting to get around to this (Yay classes), why don't you all list characters you'd like to see as NPC's. Or ones you'd like to run off and on. Then I can get an idea on some of the rules.

Oooooh Thank God. Let me see...
Daredevil. Arachnis had him, and I miss him.

Yes...thank you! I need something for Kingpin to do, and having Daredevil around again would be the perfect thing for Typhoid to do.
I kinda do too. Maybe I can sweet talk him into popping back on once or twice before classes really drop a workload. I haven't really changed anything other than the profile a little bit.

Oh, and Martian Manhunter and Wonder Woman. I'm going to use them, but I don't want them long term.

What sort of guidelines should we enforce for the possible use of NPC's?

I'm working on them little by little. Started an actual page for it, as well as re-doing the list of characters. Neither of them will be completed tonight I don't think. At least the characters won't be up-to-date just yet.
I'm thinking the basic stuff...no god-moding and all that. As well as they have to be temporary, otherwise you have to claim them and fill out an entire profile. (Only make sense if you're going to keep the character in play for months at a time.) Allow the character to be handed over to someone else when your done. Make sure you've read what all the character has done before you just jump in with something. We have the right to take the character away from you, yadda yadda.
Common sense stuff unless we can come up with anything real specific.

I've decided to try something like this. By bringing in Snake, I've also by extention added a way to communicate with Otacon, Colonel Campbell, Meryl, or even Raiden and/or Rosemary. I've been making good use of the Codec comms with Otacon so far, but only time will tell if anyone else will be contacted.
