 An Orange? He could cook about a billion other things. But his brother wanted an orange? Huh? That made no sense. Kaito slightly tilted his head cutely in confusion and curiosity. Umm, he could make orange chicken, is that what Shuichi meant? Oranges….hmmm…Ack! Oranges reminded Kaito of their color. Orange. This reminded him about the painting he painted for Shuichi. Which reminded him that he had dropped it. Which rem- Oh~ It was endless and probably to the point that Kaito could make you drift off to dream land and boredom. Ha. Surely his brother wasn’t hinting to him about the painting? “Nah, that couldn’t be it.” Shaking his thoughts away and grabbing another pan from the cabinets. Placing it on the stove but not turning on the burner just yet. “Um, S-sure, I willing…” he said truthfully since he like cooking for his brother anyways. Kaito slightly dazed off for a second to the thought about his brothers’ friends. He really wanted to ask Shuichi what the relationship was with those two…It really bother him but he wouldn’t dare to ask Shui Shuichi. His broter would probably find out anyway on his own. Ugh, was he jealous? He didn’t want to seem so, pulling himself out of his thoughts again. Only to be brought to reality when his gaze meet his brothers’ for the second time. s**t. He had to stop doing that. Kaito looked away again quickly, like usual. But with a more blushing face this time.
Kaito walked over to the fridge and opened it, checking for maybe an orange or two. If this was what his brother really felt in the mood for….He guess he would make a meal out of it or maybe a dessert.
Dang, no luck. There we’re no oranges, Kaito closed the fridge, not daring to look behind him at his brother,
“B-brother, we don’t h-have any oranges. But are you sure, you really want to eat that? I-I mean I don’t care or anything. But I much rather cook something more fitted to dinner…” he said clueless, soft, not getting Shuichi's hint at all, back still turned to his brother and slightly leaning on the fridge door.

 Shiuchi noticed the pause before Kaito answered him. ‘Knowing Kaito he probably is thinking about the orange thing I said.’ He chuckled to himself. “That’s wonderful to hear Katio!” He said actually rather pleased. He didn’t have to make dinner for himself or rather go raid the twins. He use to scrape up what was around his kitchen, go over to see the twins, or go out and eat. Though if he ever went out it was on a date and his date would be the one paying, one of the easiest ways to get a good free meal. Of course when the ones he was on a date with were really cute, he split the check.
He returned his focus on the book in front of him. It was one of the Stephen King books, so kinda creepy stuff. It was a page turner for him. He heard the rustle and bustle of Kaito in the kitchen. Shuichi looked up for a bit to see how his brother was doing only to catch his eye. He saw Katio turn first with his face in a red blush. Truthfully Shuichi had a very light blush to his cheeks. He was thinking about what has happened yesterday. He sighed looking at his book again. ‘Come on King, give me something else to think about.’
That didn’t happen since his brother spoke up about the oranges. He couldn’t help but laugh softly at that. “Hmm don’t have oranges? Well that’s a disappointment..” He sighed softly feeling very disappointed. He was trying to cover up his amusement. “Cook something instead for dinner, I’ll be happy with that.” Shuichi smiled at his brother. That was truthful since he was getting hungry.
‘I can’t believe he didn’t get the hint yet. Oh Kaito you are so amusing.’ The young man smiled pulling out the picture to study it for a minute or so. When he heard footsteps he made sure to close to the book on the picture to help hide it.

"Oh, Okay Brother~", Kaito said cluelessly again in a more cheerful tone, wondering what his brother was reading. He couldn't quite make out the title, he shrugged to himself looking back at the fridge to see what he could cook up, hmmm. There was some ingredients he could make for dessert, apples and caramel. Maybe just for kicks he could cut the apples up as apple bunnies. Was that to kiddish? Maybe, but he enjoyed doing so. Well, he had dessert cover but no dinner, Kaito definitelyhad to go grocery shopping tomorrow. Looking away from the from the fridge and shutting it, he looked over to the cabinets and opened them, to see if he could find something edible. Kaito slightly sighed, "Well, I guess we'll have to make due with ramen.". Which was a slight disappointment because he knew he could make far much taster not to mention healthier things to eat if he had the right ingredients. Kaito had to tippy toe in order to read the two packets of ramen, making sure to check the expiration date before putting the pan away and taking out a pot instead. Setting the to packets of ramen down Kaito filled the pot up with water and set it on the burner to boil, turning up the heat before making his way over to Shuichi. It made him very curious that his brother was closing his book slightly quick when he was coming over to him and Kaito even thought he saw a familiar shade of orange in one of the pages but just decide that he was hallucinating and instead went nervously towards the couch. Sifting a bit, as he stood in front of his brother trying to keep himself preoccupied by twirling a peice of his hair,
"Umm, Shui..chi, We don't really have anything but ramen...I hope you don't mind..." Kaito said in his normal soft, nervous tone. Mentally scolding himself for almost calling his brother Shui. Which he really had to break a habit of.
"But...I mean I can make some apple bunnies with caramel i-if y-you want that is...I mean that may be t-..." Kaito quickly added but notice how stupid and childish he sounded and decide to trail off with the statement all together, looking down at the ground and blushing.

Shuichi smiled softly as he listened to the kitchen noises. It was actually good to have Kaito around the house, er dorm room. He noticed the sounds of the stove being used along with a pot. ‘That’s right, I haven’t gone shopping in a while.’ He vaguely thought to himself. He drummed his fingers on the book. He wanted to continue reading, but the picture was well hidden in its pages. He couldn’t risk the picture falling out right now. The picture will be discussed after dinner.
The young man looked up seeing Kaito in front of him. ‘He’s acting cute again..’ He stopped the rhythm of his fingers on the book to listen to him. His thoughts were confirmed. “I haven’t gone shopping in ages. It makes sense that I only have barely enough to scrape by.” Shuichi had a small smile on his lips hearing his brother sound so nervous. That smile only grew when he heard what Kaito would be doing with the apples.
“That sounds artistic and delicious. I’m sure they’ll look cute enough to eat.” He didn’t think that his little brother would get that. It was for his own enjoyment that he said it and he used it to describe the apples. “How about we go shopping after dessert? This way you can get what you need and we don’t go starving?” He was considering asking the twins to come along, but they were probably having fun with a play toy or actually studying. So instead of the picture being discussed after dinner it would be after the food store run.
Shuichi had another thought about the food run. Maybe actually being in public with his brother will help explain what he felt for him. He was still rather confused. He had just commented that he was acting cute, now anyone can do that. He usually said what people were like hot or cute or anything. With his brother he didn't want to go further to make him go over the edge or something. He could always ask the twins about this. Then again they would always tease him about it afterwards.

Kaito curiously wondered what he brother had just thought of a few moments ago, and saw a expression he had never seen on Shuichi’s face, confusion and wonder. He almost didsn’t catch it with that breathtaking voice that chimed and that smiled that he now sometimes saw on his brothers face occasionally, anyway if anyone could hide their emotions it would be his brother. He wanted to ask, he wanted hear that voice say what was on its mind, but of course he just didn’t say anything. Ignored it, so it seemed like he himself didn’t see that slight change in his brother feelings, Turing onto a new topic...
Artistic was a weird way to put it but sure it fit. “I think…” Kaito thought to himself and looked back up at Shuichi, trying to keep the redness on his cheeks under control, he always acted like this whenever he was near his brother, there had to be some way to keep his emotions more hidden. He knew his brother could see his feelings crystal clear, probably anyone could, Shy, flushed, and fluster, he really need to try harder to stop feeling that. Well, at least he needed to try harder to not show it. “Okay...I will make them... And going grocery after dinner sounds grea-“Kaito said, trying to sound less nervous. It was kind of working wasn’t it? This time he didn’t stutter, that was a plus but a minus was this time he was interrupted.
“Crap that’s right, Dinner!”
Kaito heard the sizzle of water being evaporated when it hit the hot burner as it over flow from the pot,
“s**t...”
he mumbled the curse under his breath ever so slightly ,quickly forgetting at the moment that there was awkwardness in the atmosphere and running over to the stove, swiftly turning the heat off with his left hand and lifting the pot of water and raw noodles with the right. Here he was, failing at making ramen, how sad. He could make much more complicated foods then ramen but it seemed his was just to stupid to cook something so easy. “Ouch!” Kaito said, regretting that he took the pot off the hot surface so quickly, he was a idiot for thinking the water would stay in the pot, he forgot the laws of gravity. And now was currently hating the philosophy ‘What goes up must come down’, which definitely included water. Stupid Isaac Newton… Kaito reflexes cause him to release the handle from the pot once he felt that hot water splash onto his hand, lucky that right hand was the nearest to the sink and it happened to land in their instead of all over him and the floor. Kaito retracted his hand towards himself holding it tightly, trying to put pressure around the burn so he couldn’t feel the sting of his ‘careless mistake’. Which he could have avoided if he was more alert and paying attention,
“Damn….it hurts…”

Shuichi watched was the boy’s face was turning a darker shade of red. He rather enjoyed embarrassing his brother. It was like a fun hobby. He just wished that all it was, was a hobby. Unfortunately that wouldn’t be true since he has these other feelings for Kaito. ‘If the twins ever saw him so raw like this, they would pick on it in a minute. I can’t have that happening. It’s already bad enough that they are so close to me knowing everything.’ He tapped the book again as he looked up at his brother as he spoke.
“That’s wonderful; I can’t wait to taste them.” He smiled a genuine smile, but still a little fake. He is a great actor, can hide and show any emotion he chose to. He wanted to compliment to his brother how his stutter went away, but he didn’t have the time for that since a bang came from the kitchen and the next second Kaito was in there.
Shuichi watched him go thinking he would get back to his book for now. He turned his head away since he had to hide the smile from his brother cursing. He always did it so politely. Soft and no one pay attention to it. Speaking of paying attention to something it wasn’t going to be his own book. He got up from the couch making sure the book was closed and picture hidden as he went to his brother. Hearing him in pain when it wasn’t his fault, well he was concerned. “Kaito are you all right?”
He asked as he came to stand by his brother. He whistled softly as he saw the burn. “Don’t be pressing it to yourself. You put cold water to help it.” He turned the cold water on testing it then tugged the other’s hand away from him, gently and not by force. He held Kaito’s hand under the water for a little bit. “Ok? Now keep it under there for a bit.” The older brother left the kitchen to step into the bathroom searching through the cabinets and underneath the sink. He was successful in finding what he was searching for. Gauze and some gel. He had to organize around the place, it was in dire need of it. “Here you go klutz.” He stood beside Kaito his footsteps were quiet so he could’ve scared him since the other wouldn’t have heard him with the water running.
He shook his head as he took the other’s hand drying it off with a towel, gently again. “You were always getting hurt as a kid. I would always bandage you up. Then again you did the same for me since mom and dad were out so much.” He said thinking about the many times. He put the gel on making sure to cover all the spots then took the gauze around his hand. He made sure not to make it too tight or too loose. “There. How’s that Kai?” He asked smiling. Now this smile was like when he was young, all him and no fake emotion. He was smiling since this reminded him of what use to be before college and high school actually too. Maybe a little bit how a klutz his little brother was too.
