So I have a tradition of watching movies and making food on christmas. While things aren't going completely as normal I was just wondering what traditions you have?

My mother and I bake a shitton of cookies, then we drive up to Maryland where all our family is. My father and I go out the weekend before Christmas to hunt down the cheapest tree we can find. Everything's been kind of thrown off since I've gone off to college, but we still try to maintain some traditions.

We devour food on Christmas eve, then at midnight we open all the presents so there is no getting up early and waking everyone up (which is always what my Father does at 5 am Christmas day).

Ishtar Shakti How do you hunt for the cheapest tree? I think at that point you just buy a saw Correction: the cheapest legally acquired tree. We just drive around to all the local places with Christmas trees left. One year we went a day or two before Christmas and got 2 for $5. This year, however, we went the Sunday before Christmas and the entire town was cleaned out of trees. We were about to go home and wait until dusk to take the hacksaw/chainsaw out, but then my father remembered that someone had left a fake tree in one of his rental units. We used that, which was, of course, the cheapest tree to date.

I have a mini tree which I like to decorate. I sometimes leave it up for a while. My mom used to have this tree which was really a wooden caribou statue drapped in the green tree wire stuff and I really want to adopt it at my own.

My friend was so damn excited when we showed up on her doorstep with it. Her mom was pissed. In my apartment I've got a mini tree that I decorate with LEDs and random small shiny things. I don't entirely understand how a statue of a caribou could turn into a tree, but I'll take your word for it. I've seen some pretty crazy s**t turned into Christmas trees.
