Today im starting a contest on poetry. as-of-yet there aren't any prizes but at the end of every month we will pick a winner that will be displayed in this subforum.

RULES AND GUIDELINES

1. NO CURSING. if you cant get your point across without rough explitives its simply not a good point

2. please, one entry per month from a single member. if you have another poem you just love, wait until next month.

3. observe copyright laws. if you love someones poem so much that you want to share it, then cite it. just because you didn't write it doesn't mean it wont win. just give the author credit.

4. dont duplicate. check before you enter something. if a poem is duplicated the second entry will be deleted.

5. PLEASE DONT USE MY OR ANY OTHER JUDGES POETRY. its not cute and you'll just get overlooked.

6. after each judging the forum will be cleared. so please write backups of your work. and dont blame us if you didnt read this.

I'll cry when you pull me from them
And I'll cry when you say "Don't leave me"
So I won't

I write on these frayed pages my imminent demise
I write on these pages why I ended up so perfect
I write on these pages why I'm so happy
And its all because of you

This is a poem I wrote for my English 2 class two years ago.
I wrote it about the Holocaust.
We had just finished reading the book Night.
I hope you like it.

Hands

We prayed in the churches for your love.
We covered our mouths in shock of the news.
We packed and carried all of our possessions.
We pulled ourselves up into the cattle cars.
We covered our ears from all the screaming.
We held tightly onto our loved ones.
We wiped the tears from our eyes.
We shut the door to end our life.
We beat on the walls of the gas chambers.

We were burned.

VERY sad, but probably one of the best little poems I ever wrote.
