Young MoneyGoon-Lil wanye whats the best weapon in my choice umbra i totally agree with you, umbra is certainly one of the best weapons in the game, but i also think that the dawn/dusk fang is a pretty powerful weapon(refering to The Shivering Isles)

best weapon is the Dadric claymore, with a grand soul gem enchanted with fire damage, lightning damage, frost damage, and drain health(100).

For aesthetics, I like Nerveshatter, but since I hate using blunt, I tend to like using blades that I've enchanted myself. I really like the silver longswords for the beginning of the game, but Jyggalag's sword (when enchanted) is very nifty as well. Umbra is, well, not my favorite.

I made an enchanted bow which had Fire/Frost/Lightning Damage 20 on strike, and Light 20 ft. for 1 sec on strike. It was my sniper bow. The light was so I could tell when I hit. That was a pretty cool one.
As for actual weapons in the game, I'm a big fan of Skull of Corruption and Staff of worms. Neither of those are really offensive, though...
I'd probably have to go with Dawn/Duskfang, or the Akaviri (sp?) Sunderblade.

not sure how many of you use OOO, but you'll know it overhauls stuff big-time, including weapons. Having said that, I must admit that I like both Umbra (which gets a makeover into the 2-handed claymore it was from morrowind) and the blood-drinking blade (my collective name for the dusk/dawnfang combo), but there is a special place in my cold, heartless heart for a matrix-enchanted perfect madness sword. It looks smexxy, does lots of base damage (in OOO anyway) and is just generally awesome IMHO.
Also, steel longsword also looks cool, and will always try my hardest to get a hold of one whenever I make a new combat-oriented profile.

I got mine from the Valhalla Asgardia mod, its a b***h to get, but its called Mjolnir hammer of Thor or something like that.

Umbra is not the strongest weapon in Oblivion. Just because it has some unique texture doesn't make the performance better lol
From what I have seen, Goldbrand (so far) is the strongest i've seen altogether. Umbra just has a really high base damage.
There is also another sword, I can't remember the name, but you get it at the end of the Knights of the Nine from the final boss. The base damage is just the same as Umbra, but it also has a damage or drain health effect making it stronger.
But again, this is just from what I've seen. Goldbrand trumps Umbra.
