Like the title says. Any recommendations? We're gonna put in some DiMarzario's, a swamp ash body, and some other sweet stuff. Any cool body cut ideas we could use? We wanna try to make something somewhat original.

Well with original body cuts, you have to take into account certain things, like weight, cost, balence (ie whether it'll dive like in SG), and stuff like that.

PS: Your sig is way over the limits on the site, it'd make it smaller or it might get taken away.

i was thinkin about makin a korinawood body and ordering a neck from warmoth cause its a b***h to get the neck at the correct angles and getting it to set properly. i wanna have a korina body, rockwood neck so i can have super beastly big strings, ebony fretboard with gold pentagram inlays, 2 humbuckers and 1 single coil DeMarzio pickups, a gold locking Floyd Rose tremalo bridge and locking gold tuners. basically, all the wood black and all the metal gold.

Whell, for the body shape, if you want it original, try and get the lines off center from the neck line. That always works. mrgreen Remember when designing the shape, think of what kinda music you will be playing! If its rock or metal, try streight lines!

As for sound. If you want sustain, cut as little as you can into the guitar. The more solid the body, the more sustain you will get. If you want built in distortion, mind if I recommend a DIY project? mrgreen http://www.home-wrecker.com/bazz.html

And emember, if you want low action.. I mean, REALLY, SERIOUSALLY ******** LOW action, be prepared to sand the freats alot, and maybe even refreat your guitar....
Oh, and try and invest into an ajustable nut! wink

Hey Headbanger, any updates on this? My plans for guitar building are once again on hold for a short time, but i'd love to see some of your progress.

I wish Labyrinth Shredder still came around so we could open a Lutherie subforum sad

i found this sweetass book at this lumberyard way out in the middle of nowhere up here. its called "Make Your Own Electric Guitar and Bass" by Dennis Waring and David Raymond.it gives instructions and tips on materials and making the guitars. it also has some templates in the book that u can use for refrence. it also has a couple guitar lessons in the back. if i remember correct, it costed about $20.

Sounds good. Also check out "Make Your Own Electric Guitar" by Melvyn Hiscock. It's genereally considered the bible for beginners.
