Let's look at this from a logical standpoint.
The aforementioned drunken, dancing man appears to be very round. Had he not been under the influence, his low self-esteem would have kept him dancing, for who wants to see a round man jiggle on the dance floor?
In conclusion, the dancing man had drank himself into a alcholic stupor due to low-self esteem. He's unhappy because he drinks, and he drinks because he's unhappy. It's a vicious cycle, I've seen cases like this all over.
