Jericho nodded thoughtfully as he finished off his last roll. He wasn't entirely sure what to say. He had a feeling that there was more to things than Panata was letting on, but he didn't feel he knew the boy well enough to really ask him such a personal question. Perhaps another time. Speaking of time, Jer reached into his pocket and pulled out a timepiece, flipping open the cover at the press of a little latch on the side. It was rapidly approaching the time the rider that had brought him here had told him to report to the Weyrling master. "Shards..." he muttered. He quite liked hiding out in this little back hallway, getting to know his fellow candidate better. Duty called though, the conversation could be continued another time.
Jericho placed the timepiece back in his pocket and turned to Panata "I've got to run. I was told to report to the candidate master here pretty soon. Wouldn't be good to be late to the first meeting, yeah?" he said with a rueful grin. "But hey, I'm sure I'll see you around in candidate classes and the barracks." The man climbed to his feet and dusted himself off "It was good to meet you, Panata." he said with a smile, and offered the boy his hand to shake.

That's right! Panata would soon be able to go back to the Candidatemaster as well for more tasks, as opposed to just simple ones handed his way by anyone in the Weyr who happened upon him and felt some form of pity. He;d been enough for an errand boy for now, and he was ready to go back to manual labor tasks, even if it meant scooping dung.
He shook the extended hand with a warm smile, glad this had all gone well, and gave a slight bow of his head as he did so. Metting Jericho had been fun, enough that he hadn't had to explain himself to someone who probably would never know about the past Impression. . . without being told. Anyone in the Weyr could easily tell him, but for now Panata was free from possible ridicule.
"Yes, it was good to meet you too. I hope we can meet again sometime, and perhaps assist one another with chores. It's more fun to have someone you know to talk with while you're doing things, it really passes the time."
He let go of the boy's hand and lifted Meisir into his arms, the flit seemingly having dozed off in just mere moments after eating. It was always like this, a full stomach left a little lizard unable to do much mischief, and Panata smiled as he cradled his beloved friend close.
"Please take care of yourself."
He bowed his head one more time, most of his upper body going into it as well, and with a polite smile and turned on his heels and started off, secretly pleased with how well today had gone. Perhaps now he had a friend!
